I hated when I’ve driven in California with my car and motorcycles fly down the middle of road between cars as your doing. They just about clip my mirrors. Suicidal move at the best. 😯
$5000?! MSRP is $3799 (which you should never pay). Even with tax it shouldn't have been 5K. Oh well, we have no sales tax here in Montana and Motorcycle/Scooter registration/plates are a one time lifetime cost. Glad we moved out of California 16yrs ago.... 5K? Whew....
Tax wouldn't have made it jump that high. Tax in this area would only add an additional ~300 dollars, little higher with registration and DMV fees. The main culprit are dealership fees that they slap on. Dumb stuff like "processing fees". Not a California thing, just a shitty dealership thing.
I have had two yamaha scooters. A cp250 morphous and YP400 majesty.. both are/ were great bikes.. trouble free. Reliable as a rock good fuel economy decent speed
nice -well done/saving gas-oh yea/drive up to gas pump an tell the other at next pump-well i put gas in-50 today -say i have a lots running around today -an how much you getting/thanks much
Hey man, whats going on, i have a quick question. ¿Is it good for highways? Im thinking of buying one because i feel it is very comfy and easy to have. I am used to have a scooter because in Colombia it is very versatile but now that i am living here in US, im not sure of the rules o laws about driving one on highways and this kind of things
It's pretty good on highways, I wouldn't recommend it for constant use or long rides on the highway either. anything over 150cc is legal on highways in California, and the SMAX is 155cc
That lane splitting is a stupid maneuver. 🤔Some people swerve over to make a lane change hoping someone will let them in with signals on. If they don’t see you coming, guess who becomes a flying missile . Safe motorcyclist would not do these crazy antics . Well it’s your body to fly over cars as you wish. 😬
I just got a new S max also. I love it and I have on order the same windshield that you have. What concerns me is the amount of wiggle that you can see in the windshield as you’re going down the road. I would think that would be rather annoying I’ve never had a windshield will go quite that much. Any advice

The difference between the PCX and the SMAX is basically 5cc. In the USA 155cc is highway legal and 150cc is not. So that is why I went SMAX over PCX. Both great scooters.
5 thousand out the door? msrp is 3799. its a great scooter. if your happy with it don't worry about what you paid. (maybe it has to do with California) but anyone else watching because your thinking of buying one, 4000 to 4200 max.
Being 6 ' and mostly upper torso I left the thick rock solid stock windshield on and like it just fine. It does not budge. That one looks WAY to Flippy for my money. Thanks for the video and lesson. Each their own
On a full tank of gas, I get anywhere between 90-107 Miles before I need to fill up. Depends on how my throttle control is. Highway riding definitely helps that number decrease significantly.
Something doesn't add up about the mpg. You said you can go about 90 miles on a tank (14:30). It has a 2 gal tank. If you do the math that's only 45mpg. Did you mean to say 190miles?
On Yamaha's website for the 2020 SMAX they tell you it has a 2.0 gal fuel capacity and they spec it as 81mpg which maths out to ~160 miles. I personally do a lot of highway riding and get only 130 miles on a full tank if I'm not full twist but when I average 70-75mph for long periods of time obviously this number drops to what I said in the video, ~90 miles until I get to the start of the "low fuel" red bar. Maybe it's just me riding my scooter like a sports bike.
@@AndreiN. My 2019 gas gauge hits red after burning approx 1.25 gal of the 2 gal tank and rides the red for close to the same amount of time..all my mileage checks after about 10 gallons has averaged btwn 800-900 miles, or 85mpg +/-
I ride fairly aggressively on the throttle. I like to move fast from stop lights and such. That being said I get ~95-100 miles on a full 2-gallon tank. The estimated factory MPG is 81mpg.
If you can afford the few hundred extra. I'd personally go new and break it in right with full warranty. You'll remember how nice it was LONG after how much the cost was
2016 Smax owner from Taiwan 👍
Watching this after i got my smax stolen. I miss it now but hopefully you will enjoyed yours.
This scooter looks super capable. Wow I'm impressed. I was in the market for an XMAX. But this looks like it's more than enough for my usage.
I would say if you have the money go for the XMAX. If not, the SMAX is right behind it.
I never lane split unless to avoid getting crushed.
accelerating fast next to parked cars is never a good idea. ppl open doors without looking. And there you go.

It does wobble quite a bit but is only a problem at higher speeds.
The windshield seemed low, especially with a bug in your neck lol. Should a windshield be higher? Cool vid
What kind of connecters/plugs did you use to charge your phone?

FIVE GRAND???!!! Is that Canadian, or US? Goes for 4000. plus tax/license here.
Woohoo, California taxes!
Hello, great video! What do you think about Honda PCX 150? I can't decide, I'm 6 feet tall.

I'm looking at getting one soon as well. Just worried about maybe being too tall at 6'1.
Does it have abs ? And does it show the gas consumption on the odometer gauge?
Is there an obd2 port on the 2019 s max [xc155kr]? Where is it located?
Is there any upgrades over the 2019 model?
From what I can tell it's just a price bump
