I skipped this book because of the reviews I’ve come across, frankly I never thought the synopsis of this book was interesting. But wow. As an audio book; this story is really brought to life. Like carireads says, it is very in your face. The writing is so, maybe too, descriptive that you don’t need to use your brain too much when listening to this book. As an audiobook this is perfection, as a regular story book, I could see this as the perfect bedtime story. However as a normal book you’d expect to blow you off your feet, it might take a few rereads and dnfs! Otherwise, it’s so absolutely whimsical and the twists are just nicely done! I’ve definitely found this book again at the right time. It’s like Alice in wonderland and studio ghibli came together and birthed caraval!

I'm trying to at least power through this one but I don't know if I'm gonna make it through the whole series.
You can just read once upon a broken heart (ouabh) without reading this series. I read ouabh first and I loved it so much. Though this book was very difficult for me to get through...
Tbh this book had some of the most ridiculously disorganized plot development I've EVER read, and it definitely feels like it was written primarily to capitalize off of the success of _The Night Circus_ (which is a far better book). But like later seasons of OUAT, it was so off-the-walls insane I enjoyed it despite simulatenously being frustrated with the writing the whole time. Also are we sure Stephanie Garber isn't a fan of the TV show Sanctuary because I swear 90% of this book feels like an AU Teslen fanfic where Julian is Nikola and Scarlett is a much dumber version of Helen

Loved the plot twist of this book. I was so mad at donatella towards the end, until the twist.
