Training Special Defense feels like it would have made more sense. Being able to tank water moves more easily would have helped more than trying to outspeed them.
Right, he mostly understands EVs, but has zero competitive sense, so he can't properly rationalize where he needs to compensate. Which is also why he said torkoals physical defense is "excessive"(made me cringe). Theres no such thing as excessive defense... its not like Torkoal is some God tier physical wall.
@@GallantBlade475 The nature makes it a coin toss for if he should go special defense or hp. HP is easy to train (Whismer), it makes it bulkier on both sides and he heavily invested in special attack too. If running Curse Id suggest health and special defense, but with heavy special investment it might be better to just do HP. It does make you marginally less bulky specially, reguardless of nature, but is a huge boon to both defenses with Torkoal. Something like Drifblim or Jigglypuff would rather the straight defense, but when its less obvious like Torkoal sometimes you need to run calcs to decide whats smarter. Copperajah, as an example, is in that sweet spot some think to run full hp, but splitting 252 in its defenses makes it marginally bulkier. It's Torterrabl that he didn't go with that. 😢
Round two of "You know the challenge runs you do with only in-game trades? Why not do the opposite? Like, you can only use the Pokemon required to MAKE those in-game trades instead."
Hail doesn’t increase the damage of ice type moves.
this is my favorite pokemon, thanks, man. good job, waiting for the next one, bud
Something tells me Wallace is Gonna be like Lorelei in the onix challenge
We got a new hit in the making folks
_flashbacks to Slowblow_
I'm very pleased with this one, pretty good run and OMG the clutch! Keep it up!
God, Wallace is probably gonna be a nightmare to go through.
And drake with the kingdra
And Juan.
Hey MDB i just like the way you make these challenges! Always watchign your challenges!
Pokémon Black with one emolga?
I’m not sure why, but I love every Pokémon video you put out. Keep up the good work man!
I am not giving up on asking for a Vulpix run
LOL Well i gotta say the strategy of grinding for Speed increase then using Curse... i love it
The fact u do the fossil gag each challenge run is hilarious!
Such a small detail that not many would have noticed
How would no one notice? Unless you only watch like two videos I guess...but like obviously everyone who would care has watched all of mdb’s challenges. Think buddy
@@MovieSimpClips I listen to him in the background, so I wasng aware he physically chose different fossils and didnt re use footage

Fire has actually a decent chance against Stephen Steve, lol
Anyway love your vids
wait, wait, which fossil did MDB got? can seem to find that part
Great run as always - I’ve tried recreating a couple of your challenges and failed hilariously every time. You truly have the patience of a saint! Really think you should do Trapinch in Emerald - I think that would be an amazing challenge for you! Dark type moves for the most part (using special attack) and super slow. Failing that, maybe Gold with Smeargle? I always forget it exists, and especially that it made its debut so early! Keep smashing it dude - you’re an absolute hero!
Woah, a Torkoal run! I expect it to be very hard because NONE of the main characters (except for like glacia) have pokemon that is weak to fire. I think glacia, wattson, and sidney are going to be easy, but everything else will be hard. Also, can you do a Kink run in Gen 5? Klink would be a hard challenge run pokemon.
Edit: Take the Claw Fossil.
If he does do a Klink run in gen 5, if he plays white version he would have an extra difficult time because N will have Reshiram
@@Sazzyjo3 and also the fact that... KLINK ONLY HAS ELECTRIC, NORMAL, STEEL, AND FIGHTING ATTACKING MOVES.
What about a kink run?
@@LeafBush_ so what? that's good type diversity for gen 5.
@@douglasarchibald1427 eh
Gratz on the win! Look forward to next week
One of these times when you do a red and blue challenge, you should turn on the walk through walls glitch. "and on this playthrough, I took th-... Oh. Nevermind, I'll just walk around them"
I always assumed you just replayed the same clip of getting the fossil... Mad respect!
Could you try pokemon black or white 2 since you haven’t made a challenge on the second ones yet and with only status afflictions to deal damage like poison/burn.
Hello! I've been a big fan of the channel for a while now and when you said this was going to be a challenge, i decided "why not try this myself for once?" I named my Torkoal Squirtle since I think that is also hilarious. Overall, the challenge wasn't bad until the Elite 4, Wallace and Steven. I got bricked walled real hard. I was 72 when I got the league but needed to be 93 to beat Wallace and 100 to beat Steven. I used Amnesia, Iron Defense, Flamethrower and Body Slam through the grand majority of the run and made sure to beat all of the trainers possible so i never actually invested in EVs or had to worry about speed until the end. This was a ton of fun to do! Hope you're doing well and keep up the great work!
I used to think marcargo evloves into torkoal😂
The effort put in for the fossil joke is appreciated man the videos wouldn’t be the same without it
He will name it vulpix, because that is hilarious. Also, day 2: Pokémon gold with only sneasel, back when ice and dark were both special
Edit : whoops
One of your better challenge runs in awhile
On our way through, I took the root fossil. I knew if I didn’t say what I took you’d all ask. Actually now that I think about it everyone ask anyway. Comments are good for the RUclips algorithm.
@Delta_Duck why not the helix fossil-whoops wrong game
you said you might be able to power through wallace twice btw, i liked it.
Still waiting for that Numel run in Emerald huehuehuehue
You thought Torkoal was bad? Try a slow pokemon with a FOUR times weakness to water lol
You know I just realized that this run is hard to grind since white smoke actually makes wild Pokémon half as likely to appear if they are first in the party
Hmm Pokémon red with a MissingNo.
“Hanging on with only 3 health.” That’s my BOY Torkoal!
Another fire pokemon? You do this fire type a lot mannn, try some other types please. (Sarcasm)
Loved the video man!
That's the first time the name was really hilarious to me. I give a very sincere haha haha. Tnx man, I was in need.
wow so many close battles. very very good run :D
Dude you are my hero 😂 loving what you do so well! Please huge your cats for me 🤩🤩
I actually like Torkoal quite a bit, so seeing this smoky turtle boy do so well makes me very happy.
I actually love torkoal sm
It's so adorable, and recently it's been used quite a lot in competitive thanks to it getting drought
Yeah and I love that, it should have had it at the start though. But yes fire tortoise in trick room do brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
