This is such a charming little game, but every time I saw a map I immediately recognized it as an Inkarnate map and it always got me to chuckle

@@MonstersAbound oh yeah it’s an amazing deal. I’ve got a while back so I could make dnd maps for some games. In fact I posted some of the maps in the tabletop rpg channel a while back as well.
Looks like a cool game, its also free on steam so nothing lost by trying it out.
Also, important to note, at lower campaign levels the enemy does NOT rally...so charging them when they're routed doesn't achieve anything.
Yup, only reason to chase routing units at low challenge level is in certain specific situations where you want to avoid getting shot at by missiles, since charging into melee means a unit can't be shot at
Some of the Random encounters are so broken, I got reroll received wounds on my deep guard.
2+ reroll failures made my heart cry.

They don't own the idea of fantasy races fighting each other in a rank-and-flank war game.
Loving this, and the fact it's a free game is insane. Proper old school warhammer fantasy vibes, and already power levelling my Dawi. Deep Guard with Handguns are nuts!!

38:29 "I don't like if a unit is retreating they get to attack back" -> there is no reason to attack a retreating unit in this game, unless you are trying to avoid being hit by ranged attacks. They pose no threat and will run until you charge them again. Once you charge they auto rally and join the fight again.
I think if this had a better campaign map, it would be a big W with a lot of potential. Looks like fun!

The staff the goblin shaman has in this game is hilariously similar to the goblin shaman plastic kits staff for warhammer fantasy. 💀

How is this game even possible? I mean, Cyanide was legally forced to make Blood Bowl because they re-used some Warhammer Orc banners (or something) in their first game, Chaos League. There has to be some legal "quicksand" with this game, no? It's basically "old school" Warhammer in all but name, with White Dwarf battle report throwback images/feels.
As long as they remove anything copywritten or trademarked then they are fine. Can't copywrite fantasy blocky tactical battles. So as long as no art, names, or lore from then they don't have ground to stand on. So as long as they stay similar but legally distinct nothing that can be done.
Someone on the steam forums tried to blast the game saying they stole the rules from another miniature game (don't recall which one exactly) and someone listed like 12 major fundamental changes to the system that would make it hold up in court. And pointed out that game was originally based on warhammer fantasy so if they did try to go to court they would just open themselves up to being taken down on similar grounds.

Bro biggest mistake your making is by charging a already routing enemy there for taking extra damage on your units whe n the opponent's units are already out of the battle.
i tried to get into this game but the fact that it uses AI art killed it for me, especially since you have to pay for the other Races that dont come with the game
Thanks to you I played one campaign as the dwarfs. It's a really neat game, and I enjoyed myself. However, I then found out the devs use AI image generation, and that turned me away from the game instantly.
I strongly urge everyone not to pay for the DLC. Generative AI is trained on art that is not always used with consent from the original artist, and it uses a lot of energy and water. Using or endorsing AI is morally repugnant.
