@shininghappyperson7 Spokane, Portland & Seattle 700 is the only surviving example of their E-1 class 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomotive. Nearly identical to the A-3 class Northerns built for Northern Pacific Railway, but burning oil instead of coal.
Very cool! I notice the train has one open (cattle?) car - that is where I would like to ride! The pleasure of riding Amtrak used to be in the smoking car with open windows but I believe Amtrak no longer uses any cars with windows that open.
Really nice video. Great shot of the engine starting out. Too bad the steam blocks out the shot of the drivers. Hard to know where to stand to avoid that, I guess. Terrific Christmas ride in any event. Thanks for posting.
@shininghappyperson7 same I would to, I think she did a while back, I don't know if it is Pentrex or some other train video company has a dvd on the trip
Nice close-up. It is a pitty the hard steam exhaust covered the loco rods and wheels in motion. Let me tell you I feel afraid of suffering serious skin burns due to this high pressured steam when loco starts running.
@shininghappyperson7 correction it isn't pentrex but GregSchollVideo has the trip I am talking about just search SP&S 700 and the preview for it is the first video
That driver should be banned! Leaving the cocks open is not only bad for PR but dangerous to on-lookers! It's also bad for the loco to have them on too long - watch some of the professionals. Pity, you had a good potential shot there.
She's no doubt my favorite unstreamlined steamer because the bell is beautiful and that whistle is just... MMMMM!
Very nice! SP&S 700 is with a doubt the most UN-RATED excursion steam locomotive in operation today.
I have seen Rocky Balboa, a pretty black-haired young lady and a great steam engine.
Nobody needs more! :D
Now that was a beautiful sight to behold!

Despite the people standing in front of you Ervan, and those Cylinder drain cocks being open, another great shot from you....Bob
@jagafoto I didn't think I would be steamed that much. I had a lot of water on my tripod and camcorder
@shininghappyperson7 same I would to, I think she did a while back, I don't know if it is Pentrex or some other train video company has a dvd on the trip
Very nice steam engine
Tracks sound a little damp, cool to hear the wheels slip a little.
Sp&s 700 está soando o original whistle igual a voz da prima aline

Neat video.
Nice !
I heard some noise in this video in 2011 for gs4 there was holiday music but in this one there is noise.
reminds me of the SP 745 here in New Orleans.
