I know nothing about farming, but find this all fascinating to learn. So many people don’t seem to understand the workload that’s behind everything we consume.
Thanks for sharing- I very much enjoyed watching! Tedding is very satisfying to watch, haha xD Great job on staying in the right spot, given the small width of your tedder!
Nice video Ryan for your next tedder I would recommend a side throw function that is nice along the edge of the field, we use it all the time and love it and maybe a 8 or 10 rotor tedder that would certainly save time on all the tedding you do in a year
I never used a tedder, i just opened up the windrow width on my New Holland Haybine, if the weather was ideal, dry, windy, sun, i could usually rake it late the next morning, and, start baling early afternoon. That was just southwest of Minneapolis, and, we sometimes had to wait an extra day. If it got rained on, it dried out pretty well, and, just needed to be raked before baling. I thought that feature on the haybine worked well.
I remember the days of making hay. The smell that will stick in my head forever. Did you drone survive it’s in counter with the flying hay? I enjoy your videos, please keep them coming as long as it doesn’t interfere with your farm work.
Same here. Sickle on a Ferguson 35, then an old basket rake pulled with the TO20, baled with a Super 77 with a V4 on it and flat deck wagons that the 35 got to pull. Used to love the field work, not so much the barn cleaning or prep for whitewashing...
For this PNW airplane builder who knows nothing about farms (but finds this channel fascinating, been watching since ~mid last summer): Would love to hear the economics of your operation. You just bought some cattle not too long ago......yet are thinking of selling some? You grow corn, beans and hay, and raise cattle (anything else?). So, what's the pro's / cons of each? The corn you feed the cattle, what could you sell that for vs the value of the cattle you sell? $1 of corn fed to your cattle (in lieu of sold) = $?? of cattle. Raising hay in lieu of more acres of corn - how's that fit in with the cattle, etc? Hay is just an input to the cattle...or do you sell it for cash as well? Would love to hear the nuts and bolts of how all the pieces fit together into an integrated agricultural business. I recall one of the earlier vids, not too far back, about how you're switching some acres from beans to other crops.
@@nathanmullaney6946 We haven't ever done square bales before. This year we bought one and have a pretty good field to do. We have 120 cows now and have to now more hay. It's hard to mow right now in Kentucky because a good majority of our hay is on hills.
Victor Славик yea we do small square bales though becouse that's what most people buy here we got a lot of hills here too we used to flip wagons every once in a while but the big hills we sold gravel from and now much smaller
Why not rake the rows together? Wouldn’t that dry it? Just curious because no one seems to ted around northern mn. It’s always just raked. Awesome video!
Did you ever consider wrapping the grass, makes a huge diffrence with unpredictable weather? Like the little tedder, just like mine tough alot younger.
I have kinda forgot your deal with the rhino ag gear but if u haven’t bought that Tedder id get a 6 rotor, but then again I don’t know how many acres you actually do a year, so don’t know if it is actually worth it.
Thanks for the quick reply. Makes sense now. Weve always just raked it and then baled it. Keep it up your videos are rather enjoyable even got some nice music to listen to lol
"Don't ted your yard, don't ted your yard! I'm gonna ted my yard."😂😂 good to see you are having a good time, a little bit of humor every once in a while is very much appreciated! Keep up the great work and have a great day!
As my Pap says, "you cant make hay if its standing". Its all a gamble. At least its salvagable
That’s a saying with experience behind it
@@HowFarmsWork Rayn, you should search Bondi rescue it's a really good show!
Just watching the vid, I can smell the hay, smell the corn mixer mill, smell the diesel.
It's a connection to the land, few in the city understand.
Watching the hay leaving the tedder was just mesmerizing to me. Very cool video Ryan.
I know nothing about farming, but find this all fascinating to learn. So many people don’t seem to understand the workload that’s behind everything we consume.
I sure do miss being on the Farm and doing all that your Family does. I'd give anything to live that life again.
Pretty work! Tedder works like a charm!
Great quality shots from the drone as always. Never spent a day on a farm in my life but I love to watch and see how food is really made.
My husband- age 89- got to watch you cultivating corn this am. It tickled him pink!
Really like how that tedder works!!!!
The camera quality is nearly flawless. Keep up the good work!
That was really relaxing to watch.
And my 4yo son was delighted to see rocket dog again 🐶
Thank God for bungi cords.
first time i have seen one of those. Around my parts we use a hay rake.
"Ok Ryan don't tedd your yard, don't tedd your yard, don't tedd your yard. iM tEdDiNg My YaRd" 😂😂

Dogs are awesome and so are these videos !
I always love the smell of fresh hay
Nice video Ryan for your next tedder I would recommend a side throw function that is nice along the edge of the field, we use it all the time and love it and maybe a 8 or 10 rotor tedder that would certainly save time on all the tedding you do in a year
Oh, yeah,,, a very definite need to run the tedder,,, some right decent sized chunks of wet hay were flying in trail to the equipment.
Around 2:05 I realized again how much I love the fact that our old Valmets have two doors that are equally easy to climb in through.
Calvin the farm dawg.. goin for a riiide... in the tractor!
Thanks for sharing Ryan..
Ryan , you have a beautiful Farm !
Love the aerial shots
Great video Ryan. As always, thanks!!
Great video ryan keep up the great work
Hi Ryan good job on the video
Loving the Vids man keep doing what you do
Very nice!!! You should do an update video on the 21 heifers you bought this spring. Just curious.
Great job and video, have always loved every step of haymaking, seems like the hay still has good color

It made it out unscathed! Didn’t even crash!
That’s good to hear.
Nice vid!
Lovely video Ryan
The camera 🎥 quality is so great that make me think that I’m right there 👍
Teds a Good fella!
Love the voice break 😂
We had the same type of feed mill back in the day.
nice drone work ryan
what Kalvin? were is Rocket, thats his spot. I remember making hay when a kid, we just sickle cut , raked, small baled it. thanks for posting👍👍

Did a pretty good job spreading out that hay #WorldsOkayestFarmer
It's one of those years where your going to have rain every other God dam day.

That little machine makes a huge difference with your hay crop. How did you ever get along without it? (Rhetorical question)
We have had rain 6 days in a row. Last week we got 46 bales put up.
Victor Славик nice,we got 2200 square bales and 20 somthing round bales done this weekend between the rain

hey, that was a good hay video
12:24 That was a serious butt puckering moment, awesome drone shots.
You and I have the same feed mill!! Great Minds think alike!! Love your vids! ;)
Thank you for the video
Any update on the possibly purchasing the JCB Teleskid?
As far as I have heard they are working on buying the one they have demoed
Me and my dad where planting beans today and it started sprinkleing pretty good and as soon as we shut the lids it stoped.

It’s all getting stacked inside, but we have considered it
7600 definitely holds the hole operation together
Like the tractor
Have you ever thought of getting a Massey Ferguson tractor or a new Deere. Also glad you can Tedder hay. It's too wet to do anything down here
Todays my last day of school and I went to bdubs and HFW uploaded
Dude order me some 😂
While discing yesterday my Massey Ferguson 1105 was running 1700 consistently 😂
Yeah not smart
Oaten hay looked good. Could you do a video on that?
Farmers live and die by what mother nature does.
Have you thought about getting an animal hauler for Big Red to haul the cattle in?
Great video. Just wondering who controls the drone when you make videos like these when your driving?
When you get time it would be nice if you did a video on the gator and how its going
Good video
When are you starting harvest for this year? Awesome video
How much does a good quality tedder like yours costs?
We have got two ten tedders in germany
I have kinda forgot your deal with the rhino ag gear but if u haven’t bought that Tedder id get a 6 rotor, but then again I don’t know how many acres you actually do a year, so don’t know if it is actually worth it.
How many dogs do you have and do u think of getting a bigger tractor 🚜 in the near future
We've all got 1 or 2. I don't know about a bigger tractor, but definitely another in a few years.
Hey Ryan!! Do the cattle like the chocolate hay better?
So if you feed the chocolate infused hay to the cows does that mean they will produce chocolate milk? Haha keep up the great work How Farms Work!
Will you put the Tedder on the 4020 after you cultivate?
Hay Ryan I finally got the giants editor working so I'm starting on the map very soon!
Awesome! Be sure to ask if you’ve got any questions!
@@HowFarmsWork ok do you have any pictures of the farm buildings
Shoot me your email and I’ll send you some pictures
@@HowFarmsWork can we use the. RUclips email?
Casey Croney Yep, howfarmswork@gmail.com
Curious if a windrower and a tedder are the same thing?
Not in the U.S. usage of those names.
Wouldn’t this be a good job for the 4020 so you could keep the hours off the 76?
That tractor is probably 3 times more powerful than what that Tedder requires to pull it 😂
Yeah but it’s that or the lawn mower 😂 the 4020 was on the cultivator
How Farms Work lol I understand 😂
So did you bill your yard also?🙄😂🤣 and thanks for sharing your farming life.
Is there not Any cutting hay videos??? They Are so good
Travis cut the hay when I wasn't around, so not this cutting!
Welp this may sound stupid but do u rake the hay before bailing it lol. Ive never used a tedder while haying so i dont know much about the process
There’s no stupid questions my man, after cutting it into windrows, you ted it out until it dries, followed by raking and baling
Thanks for the quick reply. Makes sense now. Weve always just raked it and then baled it. Keep it up your videos are rather enjoyable even got some nice music to listen to lol
With the pto at 540, what’s your mph?
Hey Ryan how is the gator doing?
Could you put the 4020 on the Tedder
With the fässe valve we could but it was on the cultivator
Looks like a sitrex tedder to me 🤣
"Don't ted your yard, don't ted your yard! I'm gonna ted my yard."😂😂 good to see you are having a good time, a little bit of humor every once in a while is very much appreciated! Keep up the great work and have a great day!
Yesterday it rained here 6 o7 times (at least) we got .14 of an inch..........
How many dogs do you guys have?
Voice- crack 8:40 🤣 (But it’s ok Ryan, I’m 12 and I voice crack all the time!)
That gadget is so darn cool. Can u tell, not a farmer.
Do you ever ted it more than once?
There is another use for old soured corn, don't cha know.
How do you tell your dogs apart.
I have a John Deere 5090r John Deere 6620 jd 6610 and a Massey Ferguson 135
Greetings from ireland
chocolate infused hay? is that how chocolate milk is made?
No offense but that is a little weird
Question for anyone. Iam buying hay equipment to start making hay ,which is better a haybine or a disk mower ?
Johnny Essick disc is way faster
Why did you tedd your yard?
What happened to rocket?
He’s doing just fine
4020 should be a good teddertractor
12:26 uh oh, I just tedded the drone..
