We were told that the tiger perceives the vehicle and the people sitting on it as one large unit which is not a threat to it as they are used to it and also they feel it is too big for them to be taken down. Also humans are not in its natural food chain and the tiger also repels the smell of fuel and the noise coming from these vehicles. Rest is on the tiger's mood if it decides to break the stereotype, who can help :D
