    1:57 Sumo nerd here: John Tenta had a perfect record in sumo's lower divisions, before quitting either because he refused to have his tattoos lasered off to satisfy the Sumo Association that he wasn't Yakusa-affiliated, or because the training was ridiculously hard. Koji Kitao, on the other hand, made it all the way to the top divisions, before internal politics meant he was promoted to the rank of Yokozuna before he was ready. After resigning from the rank, and it's pretty clear he was pushed, he ended up in pro wrestling with a serious chip on his shoulder.
    And that's how we got to the SWS/WWF issue.

      Yoshiko didn't like that Act was becoming more over. I'm pretty sure Act botched a move in a tag match they had so Yoshiko didn't want her to be a top star. But Act was so popular they tried to push her and it lead to that match for both belts. And well... you seen what happened.
      What is even more upsetting is that Act loved wrestling but she was too injury prone for it. So she took pills so she could compete even tho they made her infertile. She gave her life for wrestling and Yoshiko ruined that just because she was jealous of Act's success

    • @thatguyfromak5190
      @thatguyfromak5190 2 года назад +1

      Well, there was also a real culture war in Joshi at the time. Act was seen as newer, more idol like blood, while Yoshiko was in the old school camp that stiffed each other and beat rookies into bloody pulps to toughen them up. Wouldn't be surprised if someone told Yoshiko to go that far, although the result would lead to Stardom and many other Joshi promotions adopting that newer focus with a lot of veterans leaving in protest.

  • @zomaz
    @zomaz 3 года назад +7

    I'm confused as to why the Brawn/Brock incident is #1. While memorable, it was just one accidental stiff shot, followed by a stiff warning shot and then it returned to being a match. That just barely meets the minimum requirements of being called a shoot. Meanwhile, you have people getting beaten bloody and/or getting retired rank lower on the list.

  • @jvstice56
    @jvstice56 3 года назад +4

    That Lesnar/Stroman one is proof that Brock CAN hold back to send out warning shots. The rest of this list led to some serious repercussions, usually for the non-star in the fights. What Yoshiko did was inexcusable. While she continues to wrestle, Act Yasukawa no longer can as those injuries proved to be career ending.
    Honorable mention to Sexy Star who did a shoot armbar twice to cause a serious dislocation, resulting in her being outright banned by both WWE and AEW. You know you've done messed up if you end up being banned by the two biggest United States based wrestling promotions. Whether or not she cares is a different story, but she's definitely not going to be seen on USA, TNT, nor TBS in the near future, if ever.
