  • Paulus Hector Mair's second play for the Threshing Flail has confused those fencers who ventured into this weapon for a long time. Through trying to solve the play I have come to realize just how important interpretations are in Historical Fencing/HEMA and how we can benefit from always trying to interpret the plays ourselves.
Note: Fencer in red (Me) messed up the play when showcasing it. You should always step in with your right leg at the same time as you displace. That way, you will get past the opponent's flail head easier and you will be more quick to displace him.

Just found your channel and I really really like it. Your willingness to try these underrated and underlooked weapons is charming. I just recently started practicing HEMA, most of my martial arts experience comes from kung fu where we have a miriad of weird weapons and I love them all.
The flexible ones have a special place in my heart, they are my favorite to practice with, so it's great to see a channel focusing on one from a completely different culture. Thanks for your work and I hope to see more from you!

@@kevinlobos5519 Thank you. I have become the threshing flail instructor for our club, so flail has become my main thing. I make videos whenever I discover something interesting about this wonderful weapon.
I hope you enjoy your historical fencing journey! It is a great sport.

@@skeleleleton Hope you will find the time for it! If not, there is solo stuff like Montante that you can still do. It is an excellent workout.
      Thanks for watching!
