    The 2nd stunt mirrored myself back in the day. I was (still am) 6'4", groomed to be a PF in high school (loved rebounding & the 15-foot J), went to college (un-recruited) and was told by the Asst coach to not bother trying out because his PG and SG were taller than me and I didn't have ANY handles(other than in the post) or shooting (I couldn't even SEE past 15 feet back then). Sophomore-year, ended up playing with some of the school's starters on the black-top a few times and more than held my own...Ultimate point bein', I know what it's like to be underappreciated/pre-judged off of visuals/1st sight.....Great video brotha, as always.

    I honestly thought he’d be a late 2nd round pick at the very least in the 01 draft so I was somewhat surprised he went undrafted. His biggest stunt was he never developed his jumper to go along with the athleticism he possessed. That seemed to be the biggest weakness of many guys coming up around that time that were thought to be future NBA players but didn’t make the league. Young players must understand that hops will only get you so far in the game. But your jumper will always allow you to have a place in the league.

  • @ech8014
    @ech8014 2 года назад

    Agree, one thousand percent facts!! I always tell my guys to choose a school more suited to you educationally and athletically. So, many young guys want the name and the fame and then end up in the portal. As a high school coach one of the hardest things to do is tell a kid his dream school isnt the best fit. But, I do it and to this day im batting 1000 percent with those guys calling and staying, "coach you were right." 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • @dioncherry2711
    @dioncherry2711 3 года назад +2

    Finally! Salute to you. I can't lie, I thought you were gonna miss the biggest reason. HE COULDN'T CREATE HIS OWN SHOT. Also, the Esteban factor. Esteban was labeled a knucklehead when that was only PARTLY true. His problems were OFF the court. On the court, ESTEBAN was second to none. Not because of his ZERO WEAKNESS SKILLSET but because of his relentless on ball defense and his sick ability to create and make those around him BETTER. Do you know what kind of humbleness it required to transfer to play with Kenny to let Kenny shine with it was ESTEBAN WHO WAS THE BETTER ALL AROUND player? Fact: If Kenny played defense relentlessly like Esteban, he would've went to the league REGARDLESS of his lack of jumpshot. Google the SUPER SOPHOMORES of that class. Endless dope dudes in that class all over the cuty. Have I missed the Esteban feature? The best to EVER do it from the HS level FROM OHIO. Lebron couldn't play defense, nor pass like Esteban at that level. Lebron was stronger but Esteban QUICKER. Find what Esteban did to All Americans Loren Woods and Chris Carewell (both stunted) without Kenny on his team.

  • @caseyguccione5978
    @caseyguccione5978 3 года назад +1

    Stunt 1- Roy ran the secondary break. Things are open and spread out and run as fast as players are willing to go. If he can’t play in that format, smaller schools will be even worse since they will pack in zone defenses against him. Not only that, but if you are McD AA and choosing to play small competition in that era, people questioned your desire to become better.
    2/3 - Are basically the same and his own problem. If you are 6’5” or 6’6” and can’t play SG/SF, that is your own problem. If you don’t have the ability to shoot the ball, then that isn’t some school/coaching decision at fault. That is a player not getting better. Shooting is the ultimate individual process. No school can make you a better shooter. Dude had incredible athletic ability but no actual skill. Vertical jump gets eyes on you but won’t let you keep a job in the league.
