Apparently, it was during the post match for this game when Alan Hansen delivered the line "I think it's bad news for the English game" and Jimmy Hill followed up with "we'll go on getting bad results" which went on to be used in the intro to Three Lions. Now that is interesting!!! Unless of course you hate Three Lions
True but even that season's UEFA cup had some big names involved. Barcelona, AC Milan, Inter Milan, PSV, Man Utd, Benfica, Liverpool to name a few. It was better then when they only had the champions qualifying for the Champions League.
Peloquin what a team !! they were especially good in the away games. A very good mix of young talents (ziege, hamann scholl ) and hardened veterans (klinsmann, matthaus ..) with a strong coach (rehhagel). The core of what will be weeks later the euro 96 champions.
Really? Nottingham Forest competed this high before and now they are sitting in the midtable in the PL? Wow. Iam actually impressed. What happened to them?
Bayern had a top team but some of Forest's defending that night was amateurish. They got a few lucky breaks too but that happens when you're a good team. You can see why Forest went down the following season
Bayern likes to score against english teams many goals ( Tottenham, Arsenal and Man Utd for example ) but in the other way some english Teams hurt my club very much ( Bayern lost 3 Champions League finals against english Teams, especially 1999 and final dahoam 2012 ). And Bayern lost to Liverpool in the round of 16 last CL.
There's no shame losing against German teams they always did better than England in WC nd Euros the only exception is at club level somehow clubs from the EPL perform better in UEFA competition.
Fun fact; the Alan Hansen & Jimmy Hill clips at the start of Three Lions are from the post-game analysis of this game.

Klinsmann was a brilliant striker in his day
The Last Match of Nottingham Forest's European match
Yes, but at least, they are BACK in the PL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember this. Bayern trounced every single team they played in this competition, including the finalists Bordeaux
peloquin1979 To be honest, I thought Forest would go through after the first leg.
LMAO XD This Bayern side were strong enough to win the Champions League and probably would have won it.

Beginning of the end for forest
That annoying era where referees blew the whistle after a goal was scored. They did it during Euro 96 too.
I kept thinking the goals were going to be disallowed every time!
@@TheThedynamitekid True. Stupid really.
Klinnsman is Savage

The last time Forest was relevant. Went down hill from here on.
See Barcelona follow them now. Bayern Munich aka. Slayern.
That’s not Notts Forrest. Pretty good Bayern tho.

Not against the big ones Manchester united/city and Liverpool of course.
@@gratefuldead3750Bayern beat ManUtd. in every other occassion after 1999 knocking them out in 2001, 2010 & 2014. Will knock them out again tomorrow.
I have a doubt: it was the last performance of Forest in Europe? Thank you very much!
Yes
