Jokes aside, Marcus Lehto's Mark V looks AMAZING in Halo 4, the shaders aren't final (especially the visor) but this looks good enough for the time being!

This armor is actually so much better. The beat-up, retro look of the armor contrasts so well with the sleek, intricate look of everything else. It makes you feel like Chief is in over his head.

I never realized how much impact the armor had on the look of the cutscenes.
I honestly really liked the H4 armor but the Mark V fit shockingly well into the H4 aesthetic. Mark V was always and will forever be my favorite and this is the best version I've seen to date.
I have to say mark V was my favorite until halo infinite dropped

Wow… for some reason, I think Master Chief in Halo 4 looks best in this armor, even better than other mods that change the armor to Halo 2’s, 3’s or something else.

The way Chief moves in 4, coupled with Mark V is just so cool
One of the thing I've liked the most of Reach and post bungie Halo is the emphasis on the Spartan weight, making cutscenes reflect how heavy and bulky they are. However, I always felt that 343's Spartans looked too slim for the weight they had in cutsence, but this removes that entirely and it makes sense for Mark V to look so heavy and bulky, great work!
The high quality of this armor fits right in with H4. Love this!
I love how you and Chunkier Bean got both of the classic armor sets into the game.
This looks incredible and I would be tempted to play H4 a lot more often if this were official. Hopefully Chief gets to hop in this armor one more time in an official campaign
There would be no reason also what the game didnt tell you is that chief was assaulted by an infection from hit with a wrench and many other things that put the armor in a pretty critical state making it hazardous

There's just something so appealing about seeing the Master Chief in his original armor squaring up against a Forerunner.

Something about seeing Chief in his original suit really pulls the heartstrings.
Honestly, I love the juxtaposition between the new sets of armor that the Spartan IVs use, and the classic Mark V that Chief still uses here. It's like it's being spoken that while there are always going to be new Spartans thanks to the new program, Chief is a product of his time, and he still throws down with even the best of the IVs.
Now i want to see halo 4 but chief keeps his original mark Vl armor

Well it IS forerunner tech, most of their shit defy physics both function and appearence wise, I mean what made the covenant think the halo rings were a path to salvation... instead of doomsday superweapons.

This looks amazing! My new head canon is that instead of using the H4 default armor or Mk. VI that has gone through 2 games, Cortana starts out The Chief in a Mk. V that was just lying around
I would love it if someone would transplant his H2A armor into the game and then see if it's possible to have it swap to the Halo 4 armor after he gets to Infinity. As in the first mission post-Infinity. But a whole game as H2A Mark VI(Because Halo 3's is so low resolution it's not even funny.) would be great as well.
They have to make the model from because it’s from a pre-rendered cutscene.

Dude, that no sir was the most badass thing in existence, chief was always about following orders of his superiors and although there were moments he didn't follow them, this one moment cemented chief as the 2nd most badass video game character ever(apparently killing demons without an ounce of fear in the most brutal matter makes the slayer most badass)
On the level of how it's presented yeah, but Halo, DooM, and Metroid are all pretty equally badass space men on account of what they've done.

The people who animated the cutscenes for this game did amazing work. It's honestly one of the best looking games I've ever seen.
This was definitely the strongest game 343 Industries ever made. It actually tells a compelling story with interesting characters. Halo 5 & Infinite were both total bombs.
There's something so perfect about the Mk V that I can't describe, but this simply looks right.

The 3D modeller is actually none other that Marcus Lehto! He modeled the original Halo CE Mark V armor and decided to recreate it not long ago for fun. Last year I believe.

Fitting imo considering that’s the suit that introduced him to the forerunners stuff like flood and promethians. It’s even said the halo 1 suit was damaged and that’s what got us the halo 2 suit. With cortana “fixing” it with nanotechnology one would assume she’d resort more so to its original design. It’s design fits the reclaimer role thats supposed to represent humanity stepping into the shoes of the forerunners with similar design though rather primitive compared to the latest in ancient forerunner technology.

@Scary Curtains ey, if a cartoon artist makes a character design their called an animator where i live. They had to design every aspect of the armor so therefore they're technically considered animators or designers right?

good video, I think that's how halo 4 must have been at the beginning, with the chief carrying his mark VI gen 1 until he contacted the infinity crew, and from there he made the change to the mark VI gen 2, which is the one used by the spartan IV.
The change could be shown with an exhibition scene like in Halo 2 or directly show how a team of technicians removes his old armor, then going to the dressing room and later to the machine where he receives the new one.
with Cortana occasionally commenting on her armor's poor compatibility with in-game accessory technology, the inefficiency of her shields in withstanding attacks and needing to cover up more often, etc.

First off, this is absolutely fantastic. I realize it's been articulated much better by far more notable people, and not to mention, far more often, but still, stunning work!
Second, would asset replacement continue to be viable for more of Halo 4? Replace the MA5D with the MA5B, the M6H with the M6D, etc? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but at least for those two, didn't Marcus Lehto also recreate them alongside the Mark V armor? While I do adore a great many parts of Halo 4's aesthetic, it'd be great to see at least the UNSC portion of it look as if it was a continuation of the original trilogy, rather than an evolution.
That said, again, excellent work. I hope that soon I'll be able to afford - in terms of both time and money - a new computer to play your mods, or for them to release mod support for Xbox. A hundred thousand things for 343 to get done first, eh?

I suppose that Chief would stay in Halo 3 armor, it gets damaged taking on the Prometheans and Didact to the point where he changes back to a retro fitted Mark V for the time being. And the later idk. Idk. It’s a lot of suit hopping and the Halo 4/5 is okay, but it was also just random. It would have made more since if Cortana made extra armor plating in certain parts to battle the new enemy ( like in Reach where you could add extra armor) than redesign a whole new suit that doesn’t even have a name?
I still can't get over how often Cortana just leaves her mouth open idly, like she doesn't know how to breathe out of her nose.

So I've seen some people commenting that this actually works better than the Halo 3 armor mods -- I think that might be because Halo 4's animations and surrounding art style is reliant on Chief looking bulkier. Halo 3 and H2A both look a bit too slim within the frame, so you get a bit of an uncanny valley effect with the way Chief moves and is framed in the shot. This works MILES better.
I reckon if someone put in Infinite's Master Chief into Halo 4, it would look amazing since he's much bulkier than his Halo 3 or Halo 2 counterpart.
It's simple, Halo 2 and 3 had shitty rigs, so the animations broke (a lot) Halo reach and onward had some of the best rigs in the franchise
For the visor you either need the shadows casting down from the helmet or you need the lines that other visors have, without it he doesn't have "eyes" and it looks weird

Man someone brought up the idea based off of quotes from Bungie era Halo games, that Forerunners may have originally been hinted at being ancient humans. I like that idea a lot more than the Forerunners we got.
Looks amazing! Personally always preferred the armor in H4 and especially H3 and HI but this was fantastic 🙂.
