We have been traveling to the Caribbean in September (hurricane season) for the last 10 years and (knock on wood) have never been directly affected by a tropical storm or hurricane. Like you are experiencing, we have had one pass by (on occasion) which may bring rain for a day or so but, like you, we always made the best of it by not letting it ruin the vacation. We go in September on purpose due to the rates being lower and the resorts being less full. Of course we keep an eye on the weather leading up to, and during, our trip. Great point, Michelle, we never travel without travel insurance, just in case. Its also great that Sandals is flexible with bookings in case of a storm. Great video! Cheers

Lol. Best memory of an Orlando theme park was from the time we choose to have a late lunch during the rain storm. Afterwards, the crowds were gone and a 45 min to hour ride wait turned into how fast can we could walk through the ropes and maze inside. Worst shin splints of my life for a week! But totally worth it! ✌️

Yes! Especially with how crazy the lines can be it’s almost like you want the rain!

Living in Texas I just might get lucky and miss one coming this way…..
Actually fall has become our favorite time to travel for reasons you mentioned less crowded and less costly after summer rush. Not to mention cooler depending on where you go. I just cruised for 8 days out of Galveston to the Bahamas it was amazing!

Totally, maybe I would wait until beginning or end of the season (Our honeymoon was over thanksgiving break). And we have taken a couple of cruises in the summer, no issues.

Especially Mid August to Mid October when hurricanes are most active.

Hubby and I have taken many trips to key west and Caribbean during September hurricane season. However, we live in Florida and have learned to wait until last minute to book. It’s less crowded and hotel deals are usually good.

    • @HoneymoonAlways

And last minute is even better for good deals!

Hi all. It’s interesting to note that generally, hurricanes and other tropical weather systems usually cover an area of only a few hundred miles at their largest, and as such may affect an individual island or only few adversely; as they make their path across the Caribbean Sea. There are so many islands in the region; therefore not all the islands experience similar conditions with each passing system.
For beach enthusiasts it is interesting to note that seas are generally calmer during the spring and summer months, making conditions unsurpassed for swimming, snorkeling, boating etc. It is more turbulent during the winter period when swells are optimal for sports like surfing, kite boarding and the like.
During the rainy season there is still a plethora of things to do on the islands; everything from partying to historic and cultural activities and dare I say more intimate honeymoon pursuits or simply soaking up ‘the liquid sunshine’
What ever you choose to do or don’t do enjoy it to the max.

So my first trip to Cancun, ever, will be in February 2023. Solo trip. I will be flying in. I am sorta thinking of atleast putting a reservation on a room for October. Being that October is hurricane time in Cancun would you even bother booking? I can also go to other locations it's just Cancun is the easiest non stop.

I wouldn't let hurricane season stop you, but would pay attention to the cancellation policy and consider getting travel insurance.

@@HoneymoonAlways Ok. I can cancel my hotel stay anytime. If I book the hotel and airfare together I believe JUST the hotel gets reimbursed. Maybe if I fly Delta the money goes back to my Delta account.

@@travelmanMN Check the cancelation policy. Basic on Delta is usually unrefundable and main cabin gets you credit back to use on Delta or reschedule. If you are flying with Delta, you can try a travel agent with Delta Vacations. I can connect you with one, just email me at info@honeymoonalways if that interest you,.

I would and have. Some great deals and your chances of getting hit by a hurricane is slim.
