    I've been totally in love with Emma Thompson for years. In this film, she is powerful, believable and enormously talented. She could win an Oscar for this. And Fionn? He was also amazing. Go see this film because you won't be disappointed.

    "Emma Thompson is the only one who is that charismatic with that intelligence and that degree of compassion" absolutely agree, very good description and wonderful choice for the movie.

    She was dazzling in the film and should most definitely be nominated having been overlooked by the Academy for her superb performance in Saving Mr Banks.

    There was a song sung by the male character Mark Brenner played by Anthony Calf before 'Salley Garden'..Does anyone knows the title of the song?

    This is more and more looking like an impossible year to try and determine who will win the Oscar. Emma Thompson who apparently is giving the performance of her career will be competing with actresses as disparate as Glenn Close, Judi Dench, Viola Davis, Julia Roberts and possibly Lady Gaga.

    there's something I'd really like to know... A question I have for Emma. If she ever came to be in a situation like that maybe not 100% the same but somewhat like it would she then push away that person or would she take him / her in? She wouldn't be mean if she chose the same as in the movie but I would like to know if she would take someone in who really needed it

      She would no doubt, she has adopted a refugee boy. He had the biggest problems. Yes she would!

    Great acting Emma, but the story is a little flawed, Adam’s behaviour doesn’t quite fit the profile of a JW raised boy, the attachment/bonding to parents is very thin and professional boundary smashing of a Judge is unlikely, then again both were grieving. I enjoyed the movie, as the cast was superb, but a little bit off key.

  • @lanietzky

    Summary of movie: It is a tragedy and a representation of real life.
    The judge wanted a son but her job got in the way.
    The patient wanted God, truth, and answers, but did not find them.
    At a crucial time in their lives, they made the mistake of trying to find the solution in each other.
    I just wish the judge had a counsellor or took a vacation to play with her nieces; as she once did in the movie.
    I wish the boy had his own counsellor too to make sense of his new life.
    Would that not have solved the problem in the end?

    Spoiler alert!!
    Can someone explain why he chose to die? He seemed happy to have been given his life back. Was it the realisation that parents put religion before him, or Emma’s rejection of him? Both? Or he really believed in JW? Other?

    "Life is more precious than dignity"
    So much against to what the Bible says- Losing your life and becoming a martyr for God is commendable and thus "Dignity" or "christian dignity" of an honorable death is more precious before the eyes of the Lord
    "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints"(Psalms 116:15)

      But as the biblical deity is completely morally bankrupt, the teachings of this imaginary character must not be used as a basis for decisions in REALITY.
      Grow up. At some point you are supposed to grow out of childish beliefs.

    • @ΑκόλουθοςΧριστού

      Cush
      Hm, then why all the judicial systems of the world base their basic principles upon the commandments that God gave to mankind and judge morality according to them?
      As an educated man (I work as a professor of ancient greek language in my country Greece) I think I can understand much more what to believe and study the original texts- archaeology has proven the Bible so far so it is reasonable to believe that this book contains facts of truth no matter how "out of our own understanding" then may seem to be. Just try to see beyond from what your eyes see. This is called wisdom.

    • @cush6827
      @cush6827 6 лет назад +5

      Religionist drivel. If judicial systems were to base their principles on biblical morality, then they would end up as Sharia-like systems. Modern, western judicial systems are precisely not based on biblical morality, but are an emancipation from it.
      And you are most certainly no professor of ANYTHING, little cavetroll.

    • @ΑκόλουθοςΧριστού
      @ΑκόλουθοςΧριστού 6 лет назад +1

      Cush It seems a custom for almost all atheists to insult others even though that's not a general truth.
      I think that the readers can see the difference in this dialogue between those who believe in God and those who don't (and that's not general as well)
      I don't think you really have the proper manners to participate in a civilized dialogue. Your task is to offend. If you believe Im gonna do the same you are grossly mistaken. You see, as a Christian I have learnt to respect others and listen carefully to what they say, even forgive them when needed.
      Have a nice day sir. Try to make your life (I hope it's not as miserable as it sounds to be) a bit more "colorful". You can get a great benefit from that.
