Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's probably at least partly due to the fact that you don't want to admit fault. Saying sorry isn't exactly that, but it leads that way and can be spun ways you don't intend.
This was one of the best segments from that show. Great gag, sold wonderfully, great reaction throughout by Triple H.
