If we ever get funded the director and I would love too. But with the budget and time that we had this was the best we could do. We had to work around the actors schedule and we went through a few different actors. But it's something to look forward too in the future if we receive funding. There's so much I wanted to go into detail with and background of the characters, but it goes back to time and money.
My other title in mind was "Reborn Hmong", but I thought it was too cheesy and that it'll give away the the twist/ending. I like the "Born Hmong" because Hmong means free and when he was reincarnated again he basically was Born Free yet again.
I love the movie, but one thing is that there is too many fading ins and fading out. Overall it's really really good. Have to make my parents watch this ^-^
I really like the story line, I watch a lot of movies and have the same interest similar to your story. Yes I am doing one, maybe shoot by this summer when the rice field is nice and pretty. :)
The story line is great but the acting from the beginning (the boy, his parents and the older lady) and narrative is not so great. It doesn't seem natural. Also the narrative needs to be more fluent in Hmong. There is area for improvement. However, keep up the great work.
Eric Xiong I've had that instrumental for a few years now. I had permission from the producer/composer on soundclick.com to use the instrumental. It's the same for all the other songs as well I had to get permission to use it or comply through youtube licensing. The short film was filmed in Kansas.
Shots are alright, but they would be far more forgiven if the audio was professional. I suggest getting a shotgun mic and having a sound operator on the next project. Kudos.
May you please help give me input on my dreams,I had a dream a while back,when I was still with my ex baby's mother,she is Hmong,me too,but barely speaks hmoob,well after we both had our baby girl, I've had this dream,when I barely think about death,well god gave me this dream,but never saw the faces of two, because I was too afraid of death,but it was a female and a loving child, dressed in hmoob clothing's,all I remember was a glimpse of them,I didn't try hard enough to see there faces,but the girl is holding the childs hand and we're in front of the apartment that I was living at with my ex baby mother,I couldn't remember why or how the dreams came to be,but they did mentioned my name,and wanted me to go with them,is that bad or good?
I would say it's bad bc if they said they want to take you with them you wouldn't never come back anymore bc when you dream like that they want to take you with them so that's very bad
this is good but the acting people in there dont speak fluently hmong... so find people who are fluent in hmong to act so it is better... other than that you had good story line already...

It's possible, but it takes time and a budget. Not everyone's schedule is the same these people are just friends and family.
