How does Gary Zill know the parentage of his mango creations, e.g., Pina Colada being Dot x Gary? Did he hand pollinate, is it just an educated guess, or something else? Two trees in my community were grown from seeds from the same tree, and neither one tastes anything like the source tree, and they're also distinctively different from one another. Strangely enough, they're also both better in flavor than the source tree but with more fiber.
Gary tries to keep good records on the seedlings that he grows out...including the seed parent, and where the fruit was on the tree (so that he knows what other varieties were near)

Im a amateur mango grower, several of my mangos are splitting on the tree. Is that due to too much water?
Adding minerals to the soil (like calcium) usually helps
