James VI & I was not brought up to believe in the Divine Right of Kings. As King of Scots he was monarch of a country that, throughout it's history, believed that the King was on a par with his people and was the "first among equals." Scots did not bow or curtsy to their monarch who was accessible to his people and they could approach him and a have a man to man conversation with him. Scots believed that the monarch ruled by the will of the people and if he didn't do his job properly then the people could remove him and replace him with another member of the royal house, and this is enshrined in the Declaration of Arbroath. James obviously had delusions of grandeur that didn't sit well with the Scots people.

I have one question (or two)
In our English literature essays, do we need to do word analysis for individual words in the quote we choose? So we explain what a word connotes to and relates to as part of our analysis and AO2.
And also do we need to have multiple interpretations of each quote?
I'm a little confused on whether it's actually needed or is it not really necessary?

You will only do it where it adds to your understanding. If you want to be mechanical about it, do it three times in your essay.

To exploit her ambition. He knows she will begin plotting Duncan's murder. He knows he lacks the 'spur' to follow through on his own desire to kill Duncan, but also realises his wife will overcome this. She will know how to persuade him, and be his 'spur'.

Hello sir. Could you please mark the following eseay and give it a mark out of 35? And could tell me what things I need to improve on? It will be a great help. Thank you!
    Q. Describe your favourite room. Marks 35
    My bedroom-My favourite room
As I nudged the handle of the half closed door, it creaked open. The pleasant feeling of the cold slippery marble tiled floor welcomed me in.
In the blur of the darkness, I fumbled to switch on the lights of my bedroom. It turned on; the electrifying power of its beams swallowed the darkness around me. After its initial adrenalized spark of brightness, it simmered down into a yellowish glow, its mellow beams showering upon my study desk which stood calmly beneath.
Clusters of miscellaneous books were towering on the shelf attached to my desk, competing to grow higher than the coat stand which stood next to it. A desk calendar home to home to hundreds of crosses leading to important deadlines was positioned on the cabinet above my writing space. Beside it, an ebony miniature grandfather clock stood - its colour contrasting beautifully with the woody light brown texture of my desk. Beneath the cabinet, in a neat compartment was my desk space, which has witnessed preparations of both academic failure and success.
A few centimetres away from my desk was the rigid structure of my wardrobe. It is probably the place where I spend the least amount of time; shoving piles of clothes into its overcrowded compartments and taking clothes out hurriedly to avoid my mum seeing the state of my wardrobe and compelling me to tidy it! The rectangular drawers underneath made it easier to stuff daily clothes in.
The middle of my room is occupied by my bed. Its my favourite place for its instant sedating abilities whenever I sink into it. The warmth of the duvet and feather soft pillows adds to its balmy effect. Another reason why I love my bed is because of the window beside it. The tender rays of sunlight that seep through the creeks of the curtains rolling momentarily over my face as the sun rises up every morning has always enliven my spirits, compelling me to leave the comfort of my bed.
Although my bedroom is very unsophisticated in terms of furniture; the beauty of its simplicity is what makes it favourite to me.

Each paragraph is pretty good. The structure doesn't work as you change from past to present tense, and you haven't really thought through what the reader might want to know about your room. When students are becoming good writers, they tend to overdo adjectives and vocabulary choices. See if you can see what to tone down. And having had my feedback, look at the mark scheme and decide what it would score.
