I watched this video before I got my new C class. Helped me a lot. Have a look at my channel. Made some video's about my car, but not as informative like this one :)
Bob Hope Hopefully they will be less arrogant than you are, when I have them. Mercedes still offers both trims, so I don't care what boy racers choose.
Hum, I was trying to call you old, I was not trying to be arrogant. the luxury grill is the "Classic" grill harking back to merc's of old...young people don't want their car to look like an "old mercedes" Who brought up boy racers? Older people tend to prefer the look of the "luxury grill" while younger people tend to like the sleeker look. You've got the crotchety old man thing down though.
Bob Hope Now that is untrue. I'm 18 years old, so I could be considered young. I'm considering the MB C300 with the Luxury Package. Not due to heritage or anything like that, but it seems as if it demands respect with the hood ornament, reflects class and sends a message to those who look at it. I suppose he brought up 'boy racers' because the moment a 17-20 year old male hears the word 'Sport' in the name of the car he is considering to buy, he immediately thinks of burnouts, lots of low-end torque and the growl that a V8 makes when you slam the accelerator. I can vouch for this thought due to the fact that most of the male peers I have are just uneducated in the field of automotive engineering. Just because something says 'Sport' or, in this case, 'Sport Package' does not mean it will go faster or accelerate more rapidly. All in all, Just wanted to make a point. You don't have to be old to prefer a classy look over a stylish look.
Your review was extremely informative. I have just purchased the 2019 model and needed a detailed review but was unable to find one as informative as yours. I hope you review the 2019.
I am going through some of the reviews, not only Alex gives a very good review, long video but never get bored. Also lot of good technical analysis. Great reviews
Thanks so much for explaining the reasoning for the screen sitting on the dash instead of inside. It does make the front seating area appear roomier by making the dash less bulky. I hated it when I first saw it last year. Now it's doesn't seem such an eyesore.
I know you rarely do, but I think you should include in your review something like a 30-40 seconds of exhaust note, for every car (I don't mean you have to rev it up to 7k rpm, I just mean this to hear the sound of the engine, since it's an important part of the car). Think about it ;)
The C Class has never been "less than competitive". The C Class and 3 series, with it's multiple configurations, have been the #1 and #2 vehicles in their class for a very long time.
the only thing you missed was the beautiful interior ambient lighting inside that just makes the inside look really high end.other than that you have the best review skills and knowledge im subbed.
This is the 1st person I've seen that truly gave a non biased, honest review. I agree with most of his talking points. Audi & BMW has some catching up to do in terms of their interior. Although BMW has the best in dash technology. And ATS definitely is the best handling car in this class. And I never thought I'd say that over BMW. Keep inind ATS & C300 are the newer cars so we'll see what the other 2 has up their sleeves.
Alex, you have the best review of this car on RUclips. My new C300 4Matic Sport Pkg arrives in 3 weeks :) it was not easy to choose among all the great cars in this class, but your review helped me decide.
Just had this car as a loaner.Excellent handling.Great acceleration.Very comfortable. On NYC streets shocks could be better. It is not quiet on most highways. On the NY State Thruway road noise was very loud.
Turbo lag is exactly the reason why to choose the C400 over the C300. The twin turbo charged V6 is phenomenal! I can tell you because I just bought a C400
You do such great reviews. Whenever I have free time I like to watch your reviews - even of cars I wouldn't consider buying - like this one. I don't understand why leather is an option on a luxury car and why a luxury car can't eliminate dummy buttons (like the seat ventilation on this car) it looks so tacky
Stumbled across your channel the other day. Huge fan + subscribe. Thank you for your wonderful, thorough reviews. As to the MB C300, this car looks very solid. I'm glad MB got rid of the awful dialpad cluster on the center console. What are your thoughts on the technology in the car for long term, say in 5 years? Last, I'm cross shopping many of the entry luxury vehicles. How do you think this car stacks up against the Genesis? Thank you for your time!
I love your in depth reviews of vehicle interiors! I also appreciate the fact that you state your height when sitting in the rear seats for visual reference. With your videos I don't have to deal with the hassle of aggressive sales people lurking the dealerships asking me if they can "help" me when I really just want to see the cars in person.
Fantastic thorough review. Wish you would comment on the infotainment and the audio system, bluetooth technology etc. but overall, great review. Thank you.
I sat in a loaded C400 at a dealership and also thought it had a nicer interior than the current E class. Of course at $60k, it costs as much as an E class. But it leaves me pumped for the next gen E, which should have an out of this world interior, and the return of an inline six engine is a fantastic thing. But I'm guessing we'll see a price hike as well.
I agree, and I also agree that the price is likely to climb on the E. Although, I think that is a good thing for Mercedes. If Mercedes is repositioning themselves a semi-step above the competition, that can only be a good thing for the brand IMHO.
Alex on Autos As long as the price premium brings with it more kit than the competition offers in that segment (as the new C does), I'm all for it as well. Keep up the good work!
Good video. I took a test drive of the BMW 328xi with the M Sport package yesterday; the car had more body roll and less steering feel than expected and the rear seat seemed accommodating for my teenager. I had not considered the C Class because the previous generation was cramped in the back and not very agile, but will take a look at the C300 now.
@@henryneil567 since that post 8yrs ago my vehicle purchases have been, in order, the 2016 Subaru WRX (manual), 2017 Honda CRV, 2015 Infiniti Q50 (CPO) w/3.7L VQ, 2018 Buick Regal TourX, 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia, and now the 2023 WRX (manual). As you can see, I don’t keep vehicles for the long haul, just to enjoy the experience.
Nice review Alex. I have been in this car and the 2017 a4.I found the mercedes interior to be a bit more classy and traditional but the a4 is modern and futuristic and feels like a spaceship! Whats your opinion of the a4
1st time i have seen one of you reviews and I like the way you do them..a little surprised your final score was a 7/10..from the beginning of the video to the end i would have guessed at least 8/10.
Eugene Neale It's all about the value. The C-Class is a great car, but the price tag is a little bit steep. Then again, I think that is good for Mercedes as a brand, but personally I tend to favor the "deal"
Alex, great review, what is your opinion on ride quality with those steel suspensions of Sport Pkg on the review car? Are they super stiff? Have you tried the new C300 without a sport package for ride quality comparison? Again awesome review, very very thorough.
The C300 is tuned toward the softer side of the spectrum, so the Sport package is stiffer than the standard C300 but not as stiff as the sport springs on the other sedans in the category. The suspension is slightly stiffer than the BMW 3-Series or Volvo S60 in standard form, but not as stiff as teh S60 or 3-Series with their sport packages.

& how did u like it when u had it
This gentlemen knows what his talking about, good work.
I still prefer the luxury trim, particularly on the C. The grill is wider and more pronounced, giving it extra character.
I'm willing to bet your grandchildren disagree with you about the luxury's grill.
Bob Hope Hopefully they will be less arrogant than you are, when I have them.
Mercedes still offers both trims, so I don't care what boy racers choose.
Hum, I was trying to call you old, I was not trying to be arrogant. the luxury grill is the "Classic" grill harking back to merc's of old...young people don't want their car to look like an "old mercedes"

Hi. What's the average miles per gallon on your car. I tend to average 50mpg on the c300h

Alex on Autos How much is the repair cost on the air suspension when it goes after the warranty?
mountainhobo
It is hard to say exactly, but the OE non-air struts are about half the price of the air struts. Estimates on longevity vary but it is not unreasonable to expect 100,000 miles out of it. mountainhobo It's a Mercedes. There's an old saying in South America. When you marry a fat lady, you have to buy her groceries!
Alex, could you please review/comparison of the popular AWD systems? On slippery road conditions such as rainy, icy, snowy.

It’s because gas price in US is much lower than in Europe. Also people here are travelling way more distance between destinations than in Europe because everything here is spread out and further away, you will drive mostly highway here in NA compare to city driving in Europe. The 3 Series has much more space in the back than the C Class. There is absolutely no doubt about this.
Hi alex....can u do a review on C43
This car, in silver, with saddle brown interior would be awesome.
