Yep, I've been in love with my Deluge for almost a year now, there really is nothing like it overall. Some things get close on some features but the Deluge has almost it all, and the developers are just as awesome as the machine.
OK let me say this is one of the best demos of an instrument. Here is why. I don't need to see your face. I don't want to hear your opion. I just want to see a user using it and letting me see all the features of this wonderful instrument. Bravo! A well done demo as all Demos should be!
Nice! I will have to dig into this too! I like the idea of being able to set any length to the sequences. That is the killer feature for me. I’m feeling the limits of 64 maximum steps for programming longer phrases.
The arbitrary sequence length, the ability to zoom for higher sequence resolution, and the arranger mode. These are the bread-and-butter features I'd rely on heavily. It's rare that I have fewer than 128 steps in a pattern, and oftentimes it's more like 256 or 640 or something like that. So... yeah. The Deluge's sequencer is really appealing. If it had the arranger mode at the time, I would have been a lot more tempted to get it instead of a Digitakt. TBH, I'm still tempted now, but at least the Digitakt has pattern chaining so sequence length is not really a big obstacle any more. For now, my biggest roadblock is my own skill, and I'm focusing on learning. I can consider a Deluge again after I level up.
deluge is a nice piece....and the sequencer is nice...but i use a cirklon sequentix which has more sequence options way more and a very nice piece as sequencer....(also longer phrases off course)
Cuckoo if you want to break out of the 64 step electron limit, you should definitely try both the Deluge and the Pyramid sequencers. Also having each pattern be exactly then length it need to be is so much easier to deal with. 1 bar kick with a 4 bar snare and hat and a 16 bar chord progression? no problem.
Sounds painful doesn't it? They must have had some giggles writing that into the firmware, taking up an extra character when the "Ana" prefix would have done the job.
Every time i go by this demo, it make me smile. During the first wave of lockdown in 2020, i took out my olds synths for the first time in years, and dive back in. I crossed by your chanel at that time, and watched it tens of times. I was then amazed by the simplicity and deepness of the machine, and felt for the first time confident in my capacity to creat things i had in mind, despite i am no musician. Since, i am the happy owner of this wonderfull machine (and a few more...) and for that i am forever gratfull ! thanks to you and the amazing people at synthstrom !
Bear in mind though that renouncing the daw is very tough. I've been experimenting with that for years, but the flexibility of a daw is sometimes very welcome. What I've learned from mt experience is that a hybrid workflow works best. Hands-on sequencing and sonic design with harware, but arranging and structuring songs in a dae works best for me. But I highly recommend looking into other means of making electronic/computer music away from the PC. It will introduce a whole new level and world of inspiration and musical possibilities, and it made me regain respect for the daw! Good luck on your synth journey!! (oh and btw the deluge is technically a Digital Audio Workstation in my opinion, just like to be a nerd about those things 🤓)
@@TheRubbenn lol I agree, it's a computer with an 8x16 "screen" and it works well as a stripped down distraction-less daw. best part is it's more portable because any peripherals like a keyboard or interface are built in. the fact that I can take it anywhere and jam is one of my favorite aspects of it.
@@robertsyrett1992 if you want a lot of expression in the sound, it would be best to use an external keyboard with velocity and mod wheel. the upcoming patch will have multi-sample mode which will make it a lot more like Kontakt where you can create very realistic live instrument sounds. i've found that you can make any genre you want on the deluge as long as you work around it's few limitations.
Awesome Jeremy. That’s the best “little introduction” I’ve ever watched and enjoyed thoroughly. Mastery & wizardry displayed in less than 10 minutes. Cheers. Lee
I've had a Deluge for about two weeks now. It's mind blowing how fast you are able to create nice sounding, inventive tracks. I am so slow. Ha. But, also, I find it fascinating to use audio in and loop in weird ways. I guess I get stuck on that aspect. Anyway, great demo.
i read your words and watch you press buttons and listen to the magic and i seriously pretend i know what your talking about the whole time its awesome
deluge is an incredible machine and you had this “red recording” way wich is quite a unique demo ( quantized ). and you dig in just :50% of the capacity of this deluge of posssibility ( midi, cv, arranger ….keyboard ….)
Wow! I'm going to have to consider snagging one of these. I have been researching hardware sequencers over the last few weeks and this is that and so much more!
And damned if you connect it to your hardwaresynths too, 16 midichannels/ 16 separate synths and 2 more "oldies" with CV/herz and Gate all controlled by the sequencer section plus the internal soundsection in the Deluge. Got one and damned it is so complete as a music tool ,get one damned it!
I really hope the 2.1 firmware includes the ability to patch between different dimensions, because the music I create In my dreams with this thing is awesome.
yay keep em coming. I watched your bobeats interview the other day and ...u know regarding your conversation about what exactly is appealing about your op1 stuff...it really is independent of gear... this deluge video absorbed me completely, despite having no interrest in the device itself. but the musical content and your exposition of how you go about manipulating a synth really inspires ideas i'm itching to try out with my own toys. I'm grateful for that! ((:
After this video I know, that you're one of the best RUclips musicans. Even maybe the best one. You always find something new, energetic and innovative. And you don't mind all those copycats, always find something fresh. I just love it. And well. I have a question and an idea - those deluge samples you use are wonderfully well placed. Would you mind tell us more about the sources, about collecting them and how to put this cloud of samples into something so extraordinary? Thank you RMR!
You could have named this "Flailing Wildly On a Box Full of Pads" =D You rocked it as always, but holy moly with the muscle memory needed for this machine.
Saw a comment that had someone say they bought this over the OP-1, but i don't see the appeal myself. This must cater to a different type of artist than whatever the hell i am
I owned a circuit and sold it to upgrade to the deluge...best decision of my life! Just to mention a few advantages: unlimited synthtracks, unlimited drumtracks, and unlimited sample length. I know the price is kinda high, but it's really worth it!!! I love my deluge! Did I mention the onboard mic? ;)
I’m really torn between this and the digitakt for Christmas. This just feels like it’s soooo versatile and with the 3.0 update it seems like they’ve really opened it up.
Seriously love all these walkthroughs, J. I have to ask, though, when you shorten analog, do you say it like "Annals of history," or the posterior orifice? Because hearing someone say Annal Saw and Annal whatever is a lot better than the alternative. (as others have mentioned below.) XD
yes yes yes yes yes
ANDREW HUANG Have you got one already?
@@MichaKlein Yes he has! watch the 4 PRODUCERS FLIP THE SAME SAMPLE - Episode 2 Video. 13:45
yes yes
Mr Huang, are you going to do a review of it?
OPZ, OP-1, Deluge, iphone, and one more portable synth?

John Wayne I like faces.
I like opions.... especially saute'd 🥢🤣

hey what song is this?
Oh its deluge - synthstorm

Your ability to maintain an organic feel on electronic instruments is just one of my favourite things about you and your vids.

yes another deluge video!
i just dipped my toe into dawless production and the deluge has been a really great first step.

Can you make cheesy sax solos with the Deluge? I wanna know if the Deluge is right for my vaporwave aspirations.

Robert Syrett very likely since it can sample whatever you want!

Same. Just gotta set a timer that repeats every 2 minutes and commit to making a decision and moving on every time the alarm goes off.
Somehow or another you always post new videos RIGHT before I take a lunch at work. Appreciate you making my breaks better-!
This and the Zoia from Empress look fucking INSANE. Great walkthrough!
That was a fantastic review, no small talk, all action, let me pull my trousers back up.
Thank you. 😀
i read your words and watch you press buttons and listen to the magic and i seriously pretend i know what your talking about the whole time its awesome
I usually try to skip to the best part of the video... Which means I watched this from beginning to end!! 🙌🔊
It's inspiring to watch you make music. This instrument is insane!

Mad creative. Had to stop by because my creative juice was running low. Thank you as always Mr. Blake, you're work inspires.
"Cruncy," the best kind of distortion
Super fancy Novation Circuit!
I love the way you approach every new song, awesome as always!
It never occurred to me that watching someone sequence electronic music would be interesting or fun but wow you make some good ass videos
Both you and this machine are superb. Bravo!
The 90s called, they want their Orbital back
Brilliant as always!!! I would love behind the scenes / slower - how it works version for the noooooobs to follow at home.
You're damn right I will check out for more videos. Damn this machine is cool as hell.

Brilliant song, great demo, fun video. Awesomeness!
More of this synth please
Such a great demo - tune's amazeballs too! You make it look so fluid n easy.. Thumbs up!!
Absolutely blinding demo my man. Love that track.
Nice one ! Hope to pick one these in the near future great demo love your work.
Yesssss. This the video I have been waiting to see! Since I cant buy them yet I just want to eat up all Deluge, and OP-Z vids while I save up.
Zack Geragosian you can buy them on their website.
This is awesome! Very cool demo.
What a Powerful machine... YOU make it sound AWESOME!
Love it! Looking forward to more!
Wow! Love this! It’s it’s. So visual! It’s like the early early day of fruity loops but in hardware:) 👌
It's an amazing machine, nice one dude!
I just got mesmerized for 9:40 min
imagine being on acid :)
Pads! Lots of pads! I like this musical device! :)
I only have two words to say about the Deluge....... *ITS AWESOME!!*
Didn't even scratch the conditional and probability controls. This thing is so powerful.
Fantastic video and groove!
I just bought one
Cool track! Real nostalgic feel
I've been using a Novation Cuircuit for a while and am giving it the side-eye as I watch this video.
awesome machine but first an awesome demo too. Can't wait to hear the other ones. Great job, mate!
Without the colourful LEDs one could that nknits an instrument from the 80s. Amazing thing, amazing player!
haha you totally sold this to me! arriving this week :) and Im not even a musician!
Deluge is the future classic
I love the tutorial aspect of this video, thank you. I just wish the demo patterns were more interesting.
So much fun just watching this... Nice one!
I see you have selected the same $20 Casio watch as I. Excellent choice, sir.
You always make nice TENCHO!
Thx for these beats and this mega shortcut machine
That was dope. Looks like a lot of fun!
Great bit of gear, super portable!
Can't believe this and the MC-707 are the same prices. Last year the Deluge was even cheaper and it can do all this? Wow, so tempting.
Great unit, plenty powerful, and great sound. tactile and little menu diving - vertical keybd player nice- kudos impressive
Deluge is the best!
Oooh this thing is very cool! I need to hey into making my music more to justify me wanting things like this lol.
This should been on the Boiler Room! 👏🏼❤🎉
This is a great overview
😲😳 OMG Wow Just listen 👂 to all the latent possibilities inherit within that box?
You could have named this "Flailing Wildly On a Box Full of Pads" =D You rocked it as always, but holy moly with the muscle memory needed for this machine.
All the shortcuts are clearly laid out in tiny print. It's less muscle memory than you think!
Love your videos bro!
This is so good, all in one box :)

I miss the OP-1, but that's awesome too
Doh Doh Doh Doh Doh (nuts), I want some doh doh doh doh doh (nuts). Rhythmical vocal chopped donuts.
I can't wait for mine to arrive
Hope to see more with this :)
Cool review!
You should colab with the octopus project. Please just listen to every single album. Like the begining of this song Black Blizzard / Red Umbrella
i feel like if this thing had a screen like the digitakt and more organized menu it would be the perfect all around synth/sequencer on its own
I agree
I like when you explain
Yeah it’s a dope machine, almost too crazy!:P

They definitely beat empress in the race... still gonna wait for the Zoia though.
That thing is crazy!
Very nice
VERY NICE
I see you over there sinning
Sinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Love it.
