If you watch it backs second time, notice how few times Doremey is under attack. He is basically given the game for free because he is dealing with basically no garbage the entire time. It isn't until the last few seconds of the match he even has to worry about that, and then he just drills down to an All clear and... Damn he basically ran away with the win.
I recently only started taking tetris seriously. I'm aware of the DT canon techniques but how do you exactly know if a block would fit in certain setups like the J block in 0:56 and the S block in 1:28? I also want to point out that I wasn't aware of the fact you could spin in two directions until two days ago, but even if i tried to do something like that they just go above another block instead of trying to fit. Not sure if you will read this (since your comment is 2 weeks old), but: In modern tetris games we have something called "Super Rotation System" which alles for wall kicks. this is what makes crazy setups like a DT cannons even possible. Every piece has its own rotation table which is checked when a specific rotation is executed. I would recommend reading into it in more detail here: tetris.wiki/Super_Rotation_System
practice smart, not hard. i.e., learn setups, finesse, freestyle, etc. if you say you did those things, then you did them wrong. an example (copied from the guide "how to play fast") is that block placement should not be thought of as a series of actions, but rather a fluid movement from point a to b, i.e., instead of TSDing by thinking "rotate, turn to left, soft drop, rotate" think of it as "tspin in x position on field". the muscle memory takes stress off your brain to think better. Also, there are obviously some tips. if you feel you've practiced enough, go ahead and, yes, _actually_ look up a tips/tricks guide, though don't expect miracles, and most of it will be "look at the whole field, look st the next, minimize moments of hesitation, watch others play". if you're still not good, you still missed something or you simply haven't practiced enough. to make practice more fun, try different modes and playstyles. an example would be to play big bang mode (if have ppt), or ultra mode, and play them in different ways (freestyling, tetris/sprint method, etc). because if you enjoy something, you will invariably get good at it. good luck --from someone who is honestly not that good at tetris either (imo), but practices by having fun
Actually no, that I pieces is exactly why in PPT you can do a C4W, because it doesn't matter if an already placed piece goes over the top if it's in the 3 spaces on the left or right
