      what i did 40 yrs ago was pulling in the 3th finger to to 4 th finger exersises ... it frees the movement of the 4th from the 3th ... its difficult first but gives far more control ... as well it allows u to roll ur complete hand with the 2nd finger as pivetpoint so you dont bring ur finger to the fret but you roll ur entire hand ...its very fast and makes ur hammer-ons louder as just hammering the 4th finger ..
      of course this is not for 4th finger hammering but when u play a long sequence and when ur 4th finger is pressing the string , u reposition ur 1 finger for the next roll on an other string ....u as well can use it playing everything , like malmsteen licks ....
      just try it , stretch ur fingers, then bend the 3 the finger , u ll see ur 4 th finger is moving as well .
      now try to strech ur 4th finger contra the bending of ur 3th finger ...it ll work miracles and the rolling ur hand is possible ....as well on the low E string becouse u have to position ur hand so it rolls perfactly .

      I’ve watched you for years and this video spoke to me. I joined your patron to explore your techniques. I’ve always played mostly with my fingers and now I’m learning to use a guitar pick . I never learned any of these as I’ve played by ear. I’m very excited learn more from you. Thank you Sir.😊

    My only practice routines come from Bernth. I’m self taught and never had a lesson, but after playing for 30 years now, I’m no where near as good as I should be.
    My playing has drastically improved in just two weeks after practicing the legato and alt. Picking.
    Next up, finally learning how to sweep!

    One thing that really has helped me is leaving my index and middle finger as out of the way as possible and just playing the pentatonic boxes up and down with only the ring and pinky.

      Why handicap yourself by not using 50% of your fingers?

    • @latemnf
      @latemnf 4 месяца назад +2

      Do you use 100% of your fingers playing 2 nps pentatonic runs? The idea is building strength and independence in the weaker 50% of your hand.

      I do that too, I just come up with some silly drills but when I'm done with them, both fingers feel warmed up and ready for all further action!

    I was fortunate / blessed to have a teacher whilst growing up that focused me on the same thing as your suggesting in this video. It almost feels like deja vu, his name is Terence Hansen. Consequently, I don't have any strength or independence issues between pinky and ring, however, I still have a bucket of other unrelated issues with technique that need work 😂
    Love the content 🙏🏼🤘🏼

    I use something like the Thunderstruck intro played on different strings for hand synchronization. It's extremely challenging, especially on the acoustic guitar, because you also hear the other side of the string ringing (the part behind your fretting hand that you don't actually pluck) if you're not perfectly synced and it sounds just messy.

    The stretch between my pinky and ring finger is great, i can reach from the 7th to the 10th fret from ring to pinky, but the strech between index and middle finger sucks...

    Funny, I have a torn tenton of the Externsor digiti minimi, cannot extend my pinky, which makes playing a bit hard with the pinky. On the bright side, it does not extend and does not do funny things... :D
