I don't know if ya'll noticed or not, but he didn't explain what was going on in verse 2. It's a simple verse to explain. And what was the light in verse 3. I know. Just ask only if you don't know. I have met some professing Christian’s who deny the literal 6 day creation (6 24hour periods of time). They put it down to just being a story and not to be taken literally. They make the mistake of mixing in a warped scientific world view with the word of Almighty God. One man in particular who is a regular to my coffee van, accuses me of calling God a lier because his view is billions of years old earth and not believing in the 6 day creation. He’s so blinkered by scientific lies that he accuses me of the very thing he does. He is calling God a lier. But, he’s a professing Christian and I pray that he comes to know the truth of Gods word!
Attempting to go through the Bible my first time it's just so overwhelming. I read and read and read. And feel like I get no where. Am I doing something wrong? The Bible is my all time fave book, and is very sacred.

My advice, 1st Find a quiet place to go where you can read,My favorite time is in the morning. Before you open the book, ask God To fill you with this Holy Spirit, to open your ears and your eyes to hear what He has to say in His word to you. If you're new to reading start small, Ten to 15 minutes a day. Use the lectio divinia method (you can Google this). When you are finished reading, use a commentary. RUclips actually has plenty of these... I'm currently starting over, Using this commentary to get a bigger understanding of Genesis and creation, And noticed your comment. My opinion is no, you are doing nothing wrong. Reading the bible is vastly different than studying the bible. Every new Christian should endeavor to read and read and reread the scriptures. I encourage you to find one of the many reading through the bible in a year program. Get the view from 30,000 feet, so to speak. Studying the Bible is different. It should be slower and more intentional. I have gone through Pastor John Mac's study of the Gospel of John here on RUclips, it is brilliant. This will give you a close-up careful examination and a view that you don't get at 30,000 feet. There are many books of the bible that I have read 10 to 12 times and I am just starting, at the tender age of 70, to get a understand that brings me peace with understanding God's intent for that particular book.

The problem with evolution is that the people that belief in it ignore the fact that the missing link would be easy to find rather than difficult. Evolution theory by definition happens over millions of years with millions of evolutionary steps is the process. These steps would not produce only one missing link but millions of fossils. I do believe the Genesis creation account. It gets sticky (to me) about when procreation was instituted and about plants reproducing from seed. If Eden and the whole earth had not been corrupted by sin and there would be no death of plants then the world would eventually be overrun by plants. My satisfying explanation (to me) is that plants were not initially created to reproduce but at the entrance of sin God caused all plants to become fertile or he had preprogrammed them for it. Or else by his power would have regulated reproduction before death became a factor. I am assuming he made all animals to be a male/female pair only and no others as he did humans. The humans and animal had to eat fruit, nuts and parts of plants therefore plants had to keep producing food but no need to reproduce. Meat was not consumed until after the flood so that's not an issue. What am I forgetting to consider about all this, if anything?

I love to see Christians speak up for creation. However, I think it is important to study our physics before saying too strongly that is had to happen in a certain way. May I suggest reading the Genesis 1:1-2, as a separate overview. Then creation begins, 1:3 God says, " Light be!" Wow - big bang, E=mc2, time - space- gravity, electro-magnetic forces all coming into being. Not magic, not instantaneously, being created out of the energy and intelligence of the Word of God. This is day one. Evening (disorder) and morning ( coming to light), day one. The solar system comes later. There is no such thing as a 24 hour day in our universe until much later and even then it is only in one place. Time -space stretches to keep the speed of light constant. Now that is amazing. Terry, I appreciate your sincerity. You have to understand I totally believe in creation. I believe the bible. I've also been following Jesus a long time. I've given thirty five years and everything I own to reach people in Japan. I have a physics background. And I noticed very early, "let there be light" actually matches what scientist have been saying about the beginning of the universe really well. But when I go to discuss it with some Christian leaders, especially certain sections of evangelicals, people get upset. People get stuck in the mud. But God is on the move. He is revealing so much to us in this generation. There has never been a time, since the time of Jesus where the Holy Spirit is being poured out on mankind in every nation like it is now. Six days, six aeons, that is not the main theme of the Bible. David Spurgeon he didnt. He created light to separate darkness and light. To distinguish day and night. Later he added the lights to govern those days and nights. Sun for the days moon for the night. Each creating its own light. So i guess day and night was there already but he made those two great illuminaries to govern it
Im gonna do my best to explain the fossils. This comment is for the believers who r open to new things other than what the world has been telling us. Just as we believe evolution history of earth cannot be true according to the bible. So yes. Most of the fossils are the direct result of the deluge. First off, God created alll the creatures of the sea and land and birds. U have to believe that dinosaurs were part of it too. If u dont wanna read it from this point on, thats ur choice. Just like how all the bible words r truth, just as i believe the behemoths and leviathans were real creatures becuz, think about it. Why would God detail those creatures to job? Just to get a wow from him?? So yes i do believe those creatures alctually roamed the earth. And so did dinosaurs. Have u guys seen the recent find on dinosaur bones with cells still intact? Now when u beieve that any dinosaur fossils they find must have been couple hundred million years ago, then it wouldnt make sense. But why believe what they say instead of the bible? Have u heard the news on finding dino fossils and human remains in same sediments? There r many info out there if u guys research. Anyway so when deluge came, it wasnt a few day thing; it rained for 40 days straight and it water leve went 20ft higher than the highest tip of the mountain thatexisted back then. And it wasnt just a calm rain. It was rainstorm. Heavens windows opened up pouring all its water and fountains under the oceans opened u gushing water out of it too. Water stayed over the mountain for another 150days and took another 150 days for water to eventually move away from land completely. So it was about a year worth of event. All that rain, water, wind will move the sediments. From higher ground to lower etc, wind waves moving them. Creatures drowning dying from them in its impact. God wiped all creatures out. Now when u study fossils, at rhe bottom most layers, you always find sea creatures. Fish shells etc. next up reptiles amphibians, next land creatures. At the highest sediments the birds and high mountain creatures. I said most of the time. Now why is that? Becuz it basically shows the chronological order when the creatures died during that flood. U find dino fossils according to their kinds too. Ocean creatures being at rhe bottom birds at top etc. paleos always say whenever theres a layer change within sediments its hundreds of thousands of uears old. But its not true. Have u guys seen those articles of tree fossilized thru those layers? Which explains the flood and moving of the sediments due to fast moving water right? Obviously according to science, that tree shouldnt go thru layers of sediments as that means it stood living thru hundred of thousands of years without dying thru layers. Dinos are pretty recent animals. That is why they found some with cell intact and bone marrow intact. Fossils and everything in the world u find can be proof of Gods existence and proof of all the events in the bible actually took place. But becuz we were brainwashed from the time we were barely able to think on our own to be forcefed what they want us to learn, we have this barrier in our knowledge that we dont wanna accept anything that goes against that. U know how how ancient civilizations have carvings, potteries with drawings figurines that look like dinosaurs? Thats becuz they alctually lived with them. Think about it. Did they have internet back then to research extinct creatures back then? They all have drawings or figurines as if they actually lived with, hunted, died die to it, all drawn and left record of it. Those ancient tribes. Why? Just like everyone in history leaves behind pieces of what goes around today for the future generations to know right? Same reason they did that. Open ur mind and brain to new possibilities that cntradicts what the world is saying, then u will see how easily what bible says is true and all we see around us fit in like a missing puzzle

You're stumbling over words. We all know God's name is Yaweh, YHVH, but we can call Him God as that is who He is. No one knows how his name was pronounced anyway. It has no vowels so we fill those in and perhaps incorrectly.

I am a 6-day Creationist. Here are other facts: All days throughout the 360-day earth year had sunrise at the same time each 24-hour day and sunset at the same time each 24-hour day therefore each day had the same number of hours of light and likewise, the same number of hours of darkness each 24-hour day throughout the year. This is because the earth was not yet tilted on its axis which occurred during the cataclysm of the Great Flood. The tilt began causing earth to have 4 seasons during which the hours of daylight differed for days throughout the years as we now have.

There's a lot that could be said, but the following is a start: Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned- This verse refers to the fact that human death is a result of human sin. It makes no mention of the death of plants and animals. Linking the natural death of plants and animals to the sin of Adam and Eve seems unnecessary.

Darwin's theory of evolution offers a tentative explanation of ONE observed phenomenon--speciation. That's it. That's all it does. It says nothing about where anything came from. It also says nothing at all about God or religion. It's also by definition as a scientific theory tentative, meaning that it can be falsified. And as a theory, it's subject to all the testing anybody cares to do. I am baffled as to why creationists continually conflate these two kinds of statements. Creationism is about everything, and is based in religious dogma; scientific theories are about one thing at a time and are based on empirical evidence. Creationism is by definition immune to inquiry; scientific theories must be tested. Two different kinds of statements, incompatible in every way: why do creationists keep trying to compare them? I do believe the Genesis creation account. It gets sticky (to me) about when procreation was instituted and about plants reproducing from seed. If Eden and the whole earth had not been corrupted by sin and there would be no death of plants then the world would eventually be overrun by plants. My satisfying explanation (to me) is that plants were not initially created to reproduce but at the entrance of sin God caused all plants to become fertile or he had preprogrammed them for it. Or else by his power would have regulated reproduction before death became a factor. I am assuming he made all animals to be a male/female pair only and no others as he did humans. The humans and animal had to eat fruit, nuts and parts of plants therefore plants had to keep producing food but no need to reproduce. Meat was not consumed until after the flood so that's not an issue. What am I forgetting to consider about all this, if anything?

I love to see Christians speak up for creation. However, I think it is important to study our physics before saying too strongly that is had to happen in a certain way. May I suggest reading the Genesis 1:1-2, as a separate overview. Then creation begins, 1:3 God says, " Light be!" Wow - big bang, E=mc2, time - space- gravity, electro-magnetic forces all coming into being. Not magic, not instantaneously, being created out of the energy and intelligence of the Word of God. This is day one. Evening (disorder) and morning ( coming to light), day one. The solar system comes later. There is no such thing as a 24 hour day in our universe until much later and even then it is only in one place. Time -space stretches to keep the speed of light constant. Now that is amazing. If the Bible was not inspired by God, no one would thing to start with light.

Terry, I appreciate your sincerity. You have to understand I totally believe in creation. I believe the bible. I've also been following Jesus a long time. I've given thirty five years and everything I own to reach people in Japan. I have a physics background. And I noticed very early, "let there be light" actually matches what scientist have been saying about the beginning of the universe really well. But when I go to discuss it with some Christian leaders, especially certain sections of evangelicals, people get upset.
People get stuck in the mud. But God is on the move. He is revealing so much to us in this generation. There has never been a time, since the time of Jesus where the Holy Spirit is being poured out on mankind in every nation like it is now. Six days, six aeons, that is not the main theme of the Bible. David Spurgeon he didnt. He created light to separate darkness and light. To distinguish day and night. Later he added the lights to govern those days and nights. Sun for the days moon for the night. Each creating its own light. So i guess day and night was there already but he made those two great illuminaries to govern it

Im gonna do my best to explain the fossils. This comment is for the believers who r open to new things other than what the world has been telling us. Just as we believe evolution history of earth cannot be true according to the bible.
So yes. Most of the fossils are the direct result of the deluge. First off, God created alll the creatures of the sea and land and birds. U have to believe that dinosaurs were part of it too. If u dont wanna read it from this point on, thats ur choice.

Now when u beieve that any dinosaur fossils they find must have been couple hundred million years ago, then it wouldnt make sense. But why believe what they say instead of the bible? Anyway so when deluge came, it wasnt a few day thing; it rained for 40 days straight and it water leve went 20ft higher than the highest tip of the mountain thatexisted back then. And it wasnt just a calm rain. It was rainstorm. Heavens windows opened up pouring all its water and fountains under the oceans opened u gushing water out of it too. Water stayed over the mountain for another 150days and took another 150 days for water to eventually move away from land completely. So it was about a year worth of event. All that rain, water, wind will move the sediments. From higher ground to lower etc, wind waves moving them. Creatures drowning dying from them in its impact. God wiped all creatures out. Now when u study fossils, at rhe bottom most layers, you always find sea creatures. Fish shells etc. next up reptiles amphibians, next land creatures. At the highest sediments the birds and high mountain creatures. I said most of the time. Now why is that? Becuz it basically shows the chronological order when the creatures died during that flood. U find dino fossils according to their kinds too. Ocean creatures being at rhe bottom birds at top etc. paleos always say whenever theres a layer change within sediments its hundreds of thousands of uears old. But its not true. Have u guys seen those articles of tree fossilized thru those layers? Which explains the flood and moving of the sediments due to fast moving water right? Obviously according to science, that tree shouldnt go thru layers of sediments as that means it stood living thru hundred of thousands of years without dying thru layers. Dinos are pretty recent animals. That is why they found some with cell intact and bone marrow intact. Fossils and everything in the world u find can be proof of Gods existence and proof of all the events in the bible actually took place. But becuz we were brainwashed from the time we were barely able to think on our own to be forcefed what they want us to learn, we have this barrier in our knowledge that we dont wanna accept anything that goes against that. U know how how ancient civilizations have carvings, potteries with drawings figurines that look like dinosaurs? Thats becuz they alctually lived with them. Think about it. Did they have internet back then to research extinct creatures back then? They all have drawings or figurines as if they actually lived with, hunted, died die to it, all drawn and left record of it. Those ancient tribes. Why? Just like everyone in history leaves behind pieces of what goes around today for the future generations to know right? Same reason they did that. Open ur mind and brain to new possibilities that cntradicts what the world is saying, then u will see how easily what bible says is true and all we see around us fit in like a missing puzzle
And it doesnt take millions of years for fossils to be formed. If theres right minerals, it coukd even be done in few months. Research it. Carbon dating isnt accurate either. Research it. God created in 6 days, TIME began on the first day , whether the Earth itself is billions or millions of years old prior to the first day makes no difference, We cant explain anything before time by using time to explain it. You're stumbling over words. We all know God's name is Yaweh, YHVH, but we can call Him God as that is who He is. No one knows how his name was pronounced anyway. It has no vowels so we fill those in and perhaps incorrectly.

I am a 6-day Creationist. Here are other facts: All days throughout the 360-day earth year had sunrise at the same time each 24-hour day and sunset at the same time each 24-hour day therefore each day had the same number of hours of light and likewise, the same number of hours of darkness each 24-hour day throughout the year. This is because the earth was not yet tilted on its axis which occurred during the cataclysm of the Great Flood. The tilt began causing earth to have 4 seasons during which the hours of daylight differed for days throughout the years as we now have.

Pastor MacArthur is right that evolution isn't valid. At the same time I do think that God created the universe ~13.8 bya. There's a lot that could be said, but the following is a start:
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned-
This verse refers to the fact that human death is a result of human sin. It makes no mention of the death of plants and animals. Linking the natural death of plants and animals to the sin of Adam and Eve seems unnecessary.

A comparison of evolution and creationism?!
Apples and oranges, right off the bat. Creationism offers an explanation for literally everything--where the planets and stars and seahorses and granites and dandelions came from, plus it offers an explanation even for the origin of intangible phenomena like happiness and souls. It also contains a justification for religion and faith. Creationism is also, as a religious dogma, not subject to questioning, revision, or falsification, those all being technically heretical if not outright blasphemous.
Darwin's theory of evolution offers a tentative explanation of ONE observed phenomenon--speciation. That's it. That's all it does. It says nothing about where anything came from. It also says nothing at all about God or religion. It's also by definition as a scientific theory tentative, meaning that it can be falsified. And as a theory, it's subject to all the testing anybody cares to do.
I am baffled as to why creationists continually conflate these two kinds of statements. Creationism is about everything, and is based in religious dogma; scientific theories are about one thing at a time and are based on empirical evidence. Creationism is by definition immune to inquiry; scientific theories must be tested. Two different kinds of statements, incompatible in every way: why do creationists keep trying to compare them? I really wonder about that.
