    Thank you so much for this excellent video. Because your guideness I was able to repair my old TZ30 camera. I found that motor wires had stopped conducting. So I soldered 2 wires and it solved the problem. Finally a camera back to life. Disassembly and assembly of a body also were not complicated ,thanks to your other video. I am glad to keep in hands this old device again.

    Fixed my TZ30 this morning, thanks to this video. Definitely need a magnifying glass (or iPhone magnifying app) to do this. The traces are so small. Also had fun getting the solder to stick to the tracks.

    Thank you so much for this video. Thanks to your two videos, today I disassembled and soldered new wires instead of the broken two, which you show in the video. Extended the life of my Panasonic DMS-ZS19 ✌🤩👍

    Great how-to. I had previously diagnosed the fault to an open circuit on those two copper tracks but didn’t think it could be fixed. Now my tz30 lives again! Thanks.

    Question? Won't the two new copper wires short out if they touch when squeezing into compartment?

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  3 года назад +1

      Hi Martin. The copper wire has an insulating coating on it, and the coating has to be removed first before you can tin the wire with solder. You can remove the coating by scraping it off with a knife, or you can use sandpaper. All motors, relays and other electrical devices that use copper wire inside, use copper wire with an insulating coating.

    Wow great video but I would not attempt it myself. I have the first problem. Would you be interested in disassembling and cleaning my camera for a fee if I sent it to you?

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  3 года назад

      I don't usually work on other cameras, but this is one of those fixes that's quick and easy, if that's what the problem actually is. So just pay the shipping both ways on it and that's good enough for me, it doesn't take long to fix. Send it to 775 Parmenter Creek Road, Libby, MT 59923. I'll delete this message after you have read it Steve. :-)

      @@Thebobfactor Wow that is extremely generous of you. I actually tapped the camera a bit and gently tugged on the lens and then the zoom started working again. I’ll see how long it holds up but may need to contact you again. Thanks again.

      @@stevebrain65, good deal that it's working. It sounds like there may have just been something small inside binding it up. Glad it's working now though. Good job.

  • @RW_CreativeMedia

    this is the main reason I stopped buying Panasonic ZOOM cameras, I had the same problem with the FZ200 so gave it away. All Panasonic Camera that has ZOOM system fail the same way all the time... total garbage.

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  5 лет назад +4

      I agree Richard. The problem that causes this System Error (Zoom) error, is 100% a design flaw. And a problem I've run into with every Lumix model that I've ever owned, about four of them, is dust getting inside the lens, and on the CCD. They could do a lot better job on quality control for their camera designs.

      Had Panasonic for years and haven't had any problems with them, Think it depends on how they are used .Have bought some second hand spares or repairs that had this issue ,fixed them up without any problems apart from one removing the lens sensor , not a good idea as it need to be calibrated, if removed or you will get focus hunting issues

    Thanks for your instructions. I managed to repair my ZS20 but putting it together again the small ribbon cable broke where it was folded. Any idea how to repair that?

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  6 лет назад

      Is it the part of the ribbon cable that goes to the motor? That piece isn't needed anymore because it was bypassed with the two new jumper wires, so it shouldn't effect anything if it broke at the bend in the ribbon cable.

    • @berniew7317
      @berniew7317 6 лет назад

      It broke before the new wires

    • @Thebobfactor
      @Thebobfactor  6 лет назад

      Looking at this part of the video, is the bend on the top of the flat ribbon cable where it broke?
      ruclips.net/video/wx8e0z0zsg4/видео.html
      If so, did the break just effect the two trace lines that I show being worked on in this video? If so, you can just solder the two bypass wires further up the trace lines to the other side of the break.
      If there are more trace lines broken, then you will have to repair them in the same way....if possible. Most of the other trace lines are much smaller and harder to work on. You may need to find a broken lens to purchase on ebay and use the flat ribbon cable from it as a replacement.

This comment just shows though how people for some reason just won't take the time to read what is right in front of them. and instead find it's easier for them to simply criticize someone. Here's the entire description that's listed above for this video, which also includes a link to the video showing the entire DISASSEMBLY and REASSEMBLY for this camera.
