Zane’s skills or mechanics really do need a change/buff. Hell, just an increase in skill points/level cap would be a “buff” to him, imo. Edit: also, they should’ve made automatically equipping the shield an option. Like, holding down the skill button makes Zane automatically equip it or something. Throwing down the shield and then picking it up can sometimes be a hassle

One thing I love about Zane is how big his influence is. Everyone in the BL world seems to know him and he seems to have met everyone. Even random bandits have a voice line "Is that Zane? Hi Zane!" He's like the John Wick of the BL universe, but less intimidating, and more like Han Solo. While others chose to be a Vault Hunter for the thrill, Zane chose to be a Vault Hunter to "lay low" lol. I wonder what kind of operations he was doing before.
He'll get a lot better as soon as the level cap goes up. Zane's biggest strength is that he can use 2 Active Skills at once, and right now at lvl 50, you can only max out 1 tree, and unable to reach the end skill of your 2nd tree. If you go for the fast Zane build, he can kill mobs really fast, but he sucks at bossing because you cant active kill skills, unless you reached the end of the Sentinel tree, which most people don't spec into because Clone/Shield is the primary ones for most builds. Once he can get the max value out of both is Active Skills, he'll be a lot better.
Indeed, I’m already a patient person so I’m fine with waiting for the buffs to come for Zane, already got to level 20 and I’m doing just fine with him ^^

Flufflz Agreed, when it comes to bosses, his kill skills and shield capacity passive can only take him so far before he’s crumb-stomped fives times over..but I’m still doing alright with him, a few deaths don’t really bother me as much as some of my friends, just gotta grab some shock weapons, my drone and clone then give it another try.
2 things about zane: Hes one of the easiest to level, Though he suffers at endgame. I mean, a barrier that makes you immune to damage, The ability to chuck more grenades than ANYONE but a late game moze (Seriously. I die more to my drone, clone, and duct-tape grenades than any enemy) as well as the utility of a drone to flush enemies, and a clone to eat damage... Just nice. Also, everyone elses voice lines are garbage compared to his, period, He is the most 'borderlands' borderlands character in the series. Everyone should play through as zane at least once
This hit me, just from how accurate it is. I have porcelain pipe bomb equiped and everytime I shoot an enemy close to myself, there's always a chance that I'll almost kill myself when I accidentally shoot out a grenade
William mitchell 100% agree to his dialogue lines. Definitely the right Borderlands vibe and the only one out of the four. First choice and I do not regret my decision. He is probably my favorite playable character in the entire franchise.

Spec into ALL the grenade chucking skills ASAP, at least those you want to use (I use clone and drone, so, 3 ways to chuck 'nades) and when you use a recursive hex, HOOO BOY. Nothing says 'Fuck you' like 18 'nades hitting enemies with elemental teslas (Math on that: recursive hex gets BOTH divider and mirv. divider splits into 2 at toss, mirv splits into 3 on detonation. 3 ways to chuck makes 18 elemental beams chaining to everything nearby while floating around an enemy)

He has to be the absolute best playable character for contributing to a Borderlands story because he is so entertaining to listen to and he is the only one who truly fits that Borderlands vibe.

I was really looking forward to finding all the class mods for Zane and what I found was that each was more disappointing than the last. They have all proved to be useless for the builds I enjoy the most and I really hope they will be improved upon soon
I think that people are forgetting about dlc. The best bl2 class mods came after Scarlett’s booty. The best sniper, the pimpernel was dlc. Not too mention a blue rarity. After all the dlc comes out I’m sure we will see more than enough viable class mods and stuff for Zane. Especially since gearbox’s goin all out with hot fixes.
I think alot of Zanes are sleeping on Playin' Dirty in the hitman tree [50% chance to fire an addional projectile from your weapon for the next 5 shots at rank 5]. I have a class mod that puts a point into it which gives it a 60% chance to proc. Use it on a gun like the One Pump Chump and you can melt some enemies.
Berner shield can work well with infiltrator, as it novas on break and on fill, so you can consistently spit out fire novas. There are also various shields that give great bonuses while broken
I do feel that executor with 8 points in playing dirty feels really powerful. The problem is that you really have to kill chain to be successful with him in the damage department where flak only needs to pop his camo and shoot as fast as he can. I honestly wish flak and moze centered more around their abilities. I feel like the pet and mech are so weak endgame.
What would be the best class mod for zane to use for the calm, cool, collected build? I figure the executor mod would be best but i also found a class mod that added 4 skill points into synchronicity. The class mod is called Rabble Rouser. That seem to help with overall damage while my drone and barrier is up.
You can tell when they were creating/balancing zane, they were super careful not to make the class with 2 abilities, too overpowered. But I feel like they were WAYYY too careful, and therefore makes him weaker. I can guarantee you if he could only use 1 ability, his skill trees/class mods would be much more impactful/powerful.
Are Golden Keys capped at 15? Because I should have about 20, but it never goes over 15. I started with 12, collected 3 sets of 3 from the the mail, but it never went over 15, and it appears the others are lost. I have also lost weapons from the mail, like I didn't decline the weapon, but it just disappeared.
Also, if you pair the infiltrator mod with the frozen heart shield (guaranteed freeze blast on shield depletion), this build has a lot of secondary survivability. Not necessarily in tankiness, but being able to press your Cooldown and freeze everything around in a fairly large radius can save you more times than you think. The bonus is also given to your clone, so whenever his shield breaks enemies are frozen too
I have a really sick anointed rough rider that’s perfect for Zane,gotta level him up so I can use my Infiltrator class mod and the Rough Rider to it’s full use
Looking forward to your Moze tier list, killer. As a currently playing Moze (lvl24) ive found that her demolition woman tree+cloning hex legendary nade is just unmatched. You essentially have infinitely recharging homing grenades that split in 2 and deal continuous splash damage shocks. My nades are from gigamind and they are still melting the annointed. My classmod gives +2 nades and +2 points into the chance to regen grenade skill. Then pair this up with a vladof rpg sniper and your grenades will proc their own regen and the snipers! Infinite rpg and healing, seeking, shock grenades
The infiltrator runs quite well with fugitive band of sitorak, +25% max health, +22% weapon reduction when shield is depleted and +10% movement speed while shield is depleted, as well as a nova when shield breaks, partners it so well
Has anyone made a zane build that takes out bosses? I can run through adds pretty quick with my current build but unless the modifiers are in my favor then my boss slaying abilities are lacking
I like using the infiltrator with the Nova Berner. Mine has around 22,000 damage fire nova on both depletion and recharge from depletion. Pair this with the clone skill that recharges whenever you swap with the clone and you have a really strong nova going off on command.
Also does anyone know of a site where I can look at a list of all the items for each character? Used to use a wiki but it’s terrible for bl3 with no info
I was hopping for something that would make his digi clone mover or teleporter. You know something like a tip of the hat to doppelganger or being able to blace you close or shield farther (I'd like to see longbow clone but I can see how that would brake everything.
instead of trying the barrier build with a rough rider try it with the shield you get from the coffee quest on promethea. the bonus fire rate and reload speed from it applies to you twice when you have the last skill in the tree
I want them to change the class mods to make them more like the other legendary class mods, changing the way things work, I thought about Zane getting a class mod that makes his digi clone and maybe his shield where he aims instead of dropping it down in front of you
I was thinking of the "break shield instantly" class mod, Nova Berner and quick breather combo making sure to proc the Nova as much as possible. Won't be game breaking, but could be fun
It's a very particular thing that doesn't work too often, but because of it you can have shields that offer benefits when broke. I've recently found the "messy breakup" and it deploys drones to fight with you when broken, so increases DPS output. Other ones increase your melee damage, but I haven't checked if a melee build is viable for Zane like it is for amara
Have you tried the cryo build with shield + clone? Clone will also be freezing and i was just basically a tank while freezing everyone. While playing with the correct elemental weapons it was pretty good.
DawiKrn equip clone with crossroad and he freezes almost any enemy he aims at. Great thing about the clone is that it seems to always try to aim for crits
I agree that's actually why he was my first pick. Now I do have a flak character that is a crit build amara Elemental build. But I have my most fun with Zane
I got a infiltrator class mod with 45% jakobs weapon CD and 31% shotgun damage and when I pair it with speedloodn hellwalker it's a monster I slay out on mayhem 3 when I'm not getting destroyed by modifiers ofcourse
Can we get end game builds on amara please?!? I mean I feel like my build is pretty good it can shred mayhem 2 but mayhem 3 is where my flak shines and amara kinda becomes a support for another flak
What if they replaced the 5% sentinal class mod, added "one" more class mod, and changed the digiclone class mod so that there is "one" for each tree. And the modifier it gives is chosen at random for each tree. Long story short, three modifiers for one action skill that can be any of the exsisting modifiers. Giving Zane the true abillity to be the jack of all trades.
I run the sheild break class mod with a black hole sheild and any really good shot gun pop your digi clone with the same copy of it and you just get free shots on most enemies for free. Not to mention if you swap with your clone you can start recharging the sheild or it's even good with the rough rider

I think the one thing they need to do to make zane more viable is remove the freeze resist from mayhem modifiers. Seriously if you're running a cryo build for zane (which he has lots of cryo skills so chances are you'll have a few) it essentially just nerfs your entire build. It's why flak is op, no mayhem modifiers mess with his builds

Devasta The Seeker negative splash damage destroys moze. Negative melee destroys amara... every character has their weaknesses but fl4k just has lots of gun options which is what makes him seem stronger than the rest of the cast
@@TheBlakamon15 They do, but I was still shredding everything regardless. Reduced normal bullet damage? Used my fire elemental Doom shotgun. Reduced elemental damage of any kind? Used my normal Lyuda. Reduced both at the same time? Still shredded enemies with my Doom shotgun. Lol. Bullet reflection chance? I down myself, assuming I don't just kill the enemies before that happens, but my pet always gets me back up if there's nothing around for me to kill.
Do you get Legendary class mods the same way you do in BL2 of Chubby enemies? I only got 1 legendary class mod and I got it from a Chubby enemy but I haven’t seen a lot of chubby enemies and so many people have so many legendary class mods makes me think I’m looking in the wrong place to get them.

Change Shockerator to give you Dopplebanger augment. Make it so the explosion does extra shock damage and remove synergy with ‘nade Zane and make it more of a tool to use with a Hitman capstone spam build, where you pop clone and immediately blow it up so it get back on cool down so you can keep getting kill skills from Seein’ Red. It would be like Zer0’s Tricky Spy build from BL2 with kill skills.
Hay I’m fairly new at game and I’m on my second Character which is Zane, on level 34 and I’m not getting ANOINTED Weapon Drops. Don’t know if I did something wrong but my other Character gets them all the time. Does anybody know what I’m doing wrong???
As a from-launch Zane main easily competing at Mayhem 3 TVHM and able to solo bosses fairly easily, here are my rankings for Zane's class mods: Cold Warrior: 2/5 Executor: 4/5 Infiltrator: 4/5 Shockerator: 2/5 Techspert: 1/5 Infiltrator works nicely with Band of Sitorak (Shield - +22% weapon damage when depleted. +25% max health. Extremely low capacity.) Combine with the artifacts Grave, Victory Rush. Cold Warrior works pretty good with Splatter Gun (Artifact - Gives +50% shotgun damage) and Front Loader (Try to get the shield effect Projected: Crouching projects your shield forward, gaining +X% Damage reduction. This also triggers while sliding). Use with the shotgun Trevonator and get Cryo/Shock version. Zane's Digi Clone will spam the burst shots, tons of DPS. Deathless (Artifact) works really well with Front Loader (Shield), and thus enables Zane to work with the less impactful class mods. Combine with the artifact Grave (Increased weapon damage when health is below 20%, etc...) Splatter Gun (Artifact) works exceedingly well with the Trevonator (Shotgun) Zane can also work with experimental builds that revolve around him summoning; ie, using his Digi-Clone and STNL, and then items that give him summons such as the Messy Breakup (Shield), It's Piss (Grenade), Hunter-Seeker (Grenade), Smart-Gun XXL, Long Musket, Ten Gallon,
That's where Zane is nice have 70+ hours with him and im using a speed build my favorite weapon to use is the flakker just point and shoot while moving doing crazy damage for bosses i use the Crossroad and The Duc for some nice crit hits and my last one i keep changing depending on my needs
Lol I maxed out my Amara and was amazed at her damage but my MOZE... with a flakker and my Hex Grenades. Absolutely love it. Her mec needs a complete overhaul though

I think if you have the best gear and build on your character you should be able to melt bosses honestly
Flufflz borderlands has always been about melting bosses. Look at lilith and brick in bl1 or sal or almost all the presequel characters

Not necessarily in tankiness, but being able to press your Cooldown and freeze everything around in a fairly large radius can save you more times than you think. The bonus is also given to your clone, so whenever his shield breaks enemies are frozen too

I have a really sick anointed rough rider that’s perfect for Zane,gotta level him up so I can use my Infiltrator class mod and the Rough Rider to it’s full use
Looking forward to your Moze tier list, killer. As a currently playing Moze (lvl24) ive found that her demolition woman tree+cloning hex legendary nade is just unmatched. You essentially have infinitely recharging homing grenades that split in 2 and deal continuous splash damage shocks. My nades are from gigamind and they are still melting the annointed. My classmod gives +2 nades and +2 points into the chance to regen grenade skill. Then pair this up with a vladof rpg sniper and your grenades will proc their own regen and the snipers! Infinite rpg and healing, seeking, shock grenades
I think I need to revisit a tanky frost build with the rough rider. I got an arctic scourge to give my digi clone that could work well
The infiltrator runs quite well with fugitive band of sitorak, +25% max health, +22% weapon reduction when shield is depleted and +10% movement speed while shield is depleted, as well as a nova when shield breaks, partners it so well

Has anyone made a zane build that takes out bosses? I can run through adds pretty quick with my current build but unless the modifiers are in my favor then my boss slaying abilities are lacking

I like using the infiltrator with the Nova Berner. Mine has around 22,000 damage fire nova on both depletion and recharge from depletion. Pair this with the clone skill that recharges whenever you swap with the clone and you have a really strong nova going off on command.

I was hopping for something that would make his digi clone mover or teleporter. You know something like a tip of the hat to doppelganger or being able to blace you close or shield farther (I'd like to see longbow clone but I can see how that would brake everything.

instead of trying the barrier build with a rough rider try it with the shield you get from the coffee quest on promethea. the bonus fire rate and reload speed from it applies to you twice when you have the last skill in the tree
I want them to change the class mods to make them more like the other legendary class mods, changing the way things work, I thought about Zane getting a class mod that makes his digi clone and maybe his shield where he aims instead of dropping it down in front of you
I was thinking of the "break shield instantly" class mod, Nova Berner and quick breather combo making sure to proc the Nova as much as possible. Won't be game breaking, but could be fun

It's a very particular thing that doesn't work too often, but because of it you can have shields that offer benefits when broke. I've recently found the "messy breakup" and it deploys drones to fight with you when broken, so increases DPS output. Other ones increase your melee damage, but I haven't checked if a melee build is viable for Zane like it is for amara
Have you tried the cryo build with shield + clone? Clone will also be freezing and i was just basically a tank while freezing everyone. While playing with the correct elemental weapons it was pretty good.
DawiKrn equip clone with crossroad and he freezes almost any enemy he aims at. Great thing about the clone is that it seems to always try to aim for crits
I play Zane as my main, i like to feel challenged when playing, not trying to kill a boss in 2.5 sec over and over!
I agree that's actually why he was my first pick. Now I do have a flak character that is a crit build amara Elemental build. But I have my most fun with Zane
I got a infiltrator class mod with 45% jakobs weapon CD and 31% shotgun damage and when I pair it with speedloodn hellwalker it's a monster I slay out on mayhem 3 when I'm not getting destroyed by modifiers ofcourse
Can we get end game builds on amara please?!? I mean I feel like my build is pretty good it can shred mayhem 2 but mayhem 3 is where my flak shines and amara kinda becomes a support for another flak

What if they replaced the 5% sentinal class mod, added "one" more class mod, and changed the digiclone class mod so that there is "one" for each tree. And the modifier it gives is chosen at random for each tree. Long story short, three modifiers for one action skill that can be any of the exsisting modifiers. Giving Zane the true abillity to be the jack of all trades.
I run the sheild break class mod with a black hole sheild and any really good shot gun pop your digi clone with the same copy of it and you just get free shots on most enemies for free. Not to mention if you swap with your clone you can start recharging the sheild or it's even good with the rough rider

Before the game released I remember that a youtuber claimed that some legendary class mods allow you to get capstone skills. Are there any characters that actually have class mods that do this?

They also said the points from class mods would count as normal points to help you get to capstones
I think the one thing they need to do to make zane more viable is remove the freeze resist from mayhem modifiers. Seriously if you're running a cryo build for zane (which he has lots of cryo skills so chances are you'll have a few) it essentially just nerfs your entire build. It's why flak is op, no mayhem modifiers mess with his builds
Except for negative gun damage, negative elemental resistance and since he isn't tanky, increased splash damage.
So reduce gun damage and reflect projectiles do not effect Fl4k?
@@TheBlakamon15 they affect all the characters the same amount. No freezing hurts zane specifically and none of the other characters as far as I'm aware
Devasta The Seeker negative splash damage destroys moze. Negative melee destroys amara... every character has their weaknesses but fl4k just has lots of gun options which is what makes him seem stronger than the rest of the cast
@@TheBlakamon15 They do, but I was still shredding everything regardless. Reduced normal bullet damage? Used my fire elemental Doom shotgun. Reduced elemental damage of any kind? Used my normal Lyuda. Reduced both at the same time? Still shredded enemies with my Doom shotgun. Lol. Bullet reflection chance? I down myself, assuming I don't just kill the enemies before that happens, but my pet always gets me back up if there's nothing around for me to kill.
Do you get Legendary class mods the same way you do in BL2 of Chubby enemies? I only got 1 legendary class mod and I got it from a Chubby enemy but I haven’t seen a lot of chubby enemies and so many people have so many legendary class mods makes me think I’m looking in the wrong place to get them.

Seijuro Akashi in BL2 I beat everything and all the raid bosses. I had 2 characters at OP10 maya and Sal and Kreig I got to lvl 80. I’m BL3 I’m running TVHM with Flakk without mayhem right now. I have Amara and Zane to lvl 14
Change Shockerator to give you Dopplebanger augment. Make it so the explosion does extra shock damage and remove synergy with ‘nade Zane and make it more of a tool to use with a Hitman capstone spam build, where you pop clone and immediately blow it up so it get back on cool down so you can keep getting kill skills from Seein’ Red. It would be like Zer0’s Tricky Spy build from BL2 with kill skills.

As a from-launch Zane main easily competing at Mayhem 3 TVHM and able to solo bosses fairly easily, here are my rankings for Zane's class mods:
Cold Warrior: 2/5
Executor: 4/5
Infiltrator: 4/5
Shockerator: 2/5
Techspert: 1/5
Infiltrator works nicely with Band of Sitorak (Shield - +22% weapon damage when depleted. +25% max health. Extremely low capacity.) Combine with the artifacts Grave, Victory Rush.
Cold Warrior works pretty good with Splatter Gun (Artifact - Gives +50% shotgun damage) and Front Loader (Try to get the shield effect Projected: Crouching projects your shield forward, gaining +X% Damage reduction. This also triggers while sliding). Use with the shotgun Trevonator and get Cryo/Shock version. Zane's Digi Clone will spam the burst shots, tons of DPS.
Deathless (Artifact) works really well with Front Loader (Shield), and thus enables Zane to work with the less impactful class mods. Combine with the artifact Grave (Increased weapon damage when health is below 20%, etc...)
Splatter Gun (Artifact) works exceedingly well with the Trevonator (Shotgun)
Zane can also work with experimental builds that revolve around him summoning; ie, using his Digi-Clone and STNL, and then items that give him summons such as the Messy Breakup (Shield), It's Piss (Grenade), Hunter-Seeker (Grenade), Smart-Gun XXL, Long Musket, Ten Gallon,
the shot executer is a easter egg from meet the sniper

That's where Zane is nice have 70+ hours with him and im using a speed build my favorite weapon to use is the flakker just point and shoot while moving doing crazy damage for bosses i use the Crossroad and The Duc for some nice crit hits and my last one i keep changing depending on my needs

Lol I maxed out my Amara and was amazed at her damage but my MOZE... with a flakker and my Hex Grenades. Absolutely love it. Her mec needs a complete overhaul though
