yes, i've been there since '82, i've been there two months ago, and almost each & every year in between.... and these boats are essential part of greek experience... you dont't get this, you don't belong there.... simple as that :)
i am confused about the issue here. did you reserve a seat and someone took it from you? or did you reserve deck, the lowest and cheapest booking class, and expect to have a selection of free seats waiting for you? i always book deck and i pack a sleeping bag and some warm clothing, sit outside and enjoy the fresh aegean air. if i ever want to get a super cosy bed i will book a cabin for 50euro more. dont be cheap and expect all the luxery
If you're travelling in High Season, it makes sense to pre-book and reserve a seat. Six hours is the standard journey time from Santorini to Piraeus. A high speed ferry would be shorter. Sorry you had an uncomfortable experience but from personal point of view, I've always had good experience travelling on Blue Star ferries. Hope you don't let this overshadow your hopefully enjoyable Greek holiday ☺
I use blue star ferries every year and it is never like this, i noticed that you chose to book an over night boat, that kind of boat in cheaper and filled with exhausted tourists, sometimes during high season the boat looks “overbooked” but there is always space if you don’t border last minute, also another thing i noticed is that you book to travel with one of their oldest and smallest boat (blue star 1) while the biggest and most luxurious are blue star delos and blue star paros that also go to santorini, and finally 6h is the average time you want to go to santorini and generally overnight boats are way slower so they arrive at the port at dawn
You didn't show the outside seating on the deck, I suspect there would be plenty of seating there. If you wanted seats inside, why not pay the extra €5 to book an airline seat?
Well we also went to Santorini using the exact same boat and we had a really nice trip, but of course we had booked a cabin...does not make sense to travel all the way to Greece and not book a cabin when someone is on holiday. If one (for any reason) wishes to travel for very cheap then it comes with disadvantages.
If you take a plane good luck luck trying to seat while not having leg room , have someone lean his seat back and keep hearing a baby crying consistantly [I went through that]
It was a terrible journey. It took around 6 hours to get there. The first people on the ferry hogged all the seats and were lying across them. I'm not sure if they over booked but we couldn't find anywhere to sit. There were no allocated seats. people all over the place sitting and lying on the carpet.I wont travel with them again.
Tony Higgins I think 6 hours is average journey time from Piraeus to Santorini, so was it just that there wasn’t anywhere to sit? You can book seats on Blue Star ferries for only €4 extra
No because a plane is super worse: You only get a packet of biscusts to eat, always hear a baby crying , not having enough legroom, being tucked and glued to your seat while the person infront of you pushes his seat back.😊

The people who traveled during the 80's and 90's are grateful to Blue star ferries. 😊

This is a ferry, a transportation vehicle and not a cruise ship to stay for a few days or weeks
True but it cruise ship for me still like look at the blue star 2 and 1!

Blue Star should never allow this mess to happen!
Why? What's wrong with you?. In high season most ships are pretty full... Everyone could have reserved a cabin so you don't have to live this...
Are you Greek Minister of Tourism ?
Traveled dozens of times from Pyreas to Santorini, never saw such a thing, even during high season.
I’ve been on one of these ferries on vacation, and there was this lady spreading a blanket near the entrance and sleeping

The ship its the blue star 1 or blue star 2 not 5 star luxury cruise ship and Santorini Pireas its only 8 hours its not too long
Just book a sleeping cabin, not that crazy expensive.
Take airplane or book airtype seat in ferry, to travel. Video depicts something usual for high season in all greek ferries.

Get a cabin or a business class seat although its expensive its soooo worth it
You want a pleasant journey - you book a cabin. Civilized people do that 😆😆. But when you're out of money you travel like this 😆😆
We don't give a sh*t if you don't do ot never again.... This is Greece and if you like! We enjoy this. We call it havalè
Live your myth man!!!
What has happened exactly, did they over book or take too long to get there

Just moaning for sake of moaning
@@tonyhiggins8503 Well you could pay extra 4 euros for seats, what do you expect with so many people in a boat?
@@tonyhiggins8503 What on earth do you mean by overbooked? Ferries have a passenger certificate with max numbers allowed - they can't be overbooked.
Why never?
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS SHIP? 😧
Boaty Mac boat face.

Bro that’s nothing
Take an airplane ✈️

They need to hire SECURITY or to stop the people from sleeping on the floor
I can't believe the cheapens of people
Anek lines did that.
If there's nowhere to sit, there's no other way
Agreed. This is ridiculous.
@@panzerivausfg4062 There is. Book a damn cabin.
