nice job i also need 1 for my trailer only problem i have is i never welded before i do have a welder but it still in box for over 2 yrs now REASON being i fought throat cancer & so far I've kicked its arse but have a zillion other problem from it stay safe have fun b/c life is short
Say that was pretty spot-on dude the only downside about a gate over ramps is that a gate will catch so much freaking air going down the highway I had borrowed a trailer to go pick up my welding machine the little trailer that I had wasn't big enough to haul it damn thing weighed 1800 pounds SAE 350 with the deutz diesel I think I average 10 miles a gallon with machine and trailer gate well worth it though bro
Only problem with home made trailers or any trailer is on the Interstate... If they pull you over they will give you every ticket they can think of... A friend of mine... Got pulled over by a state trooper in I-65 in Birmingham Alabama... He got a tickets for No Tag or Registration... Bad tires... Load not properly and safely secured down... No brakes on at least one axle... and a broken trailer light... They made him leave the trailer on the side of the road until he could have a roll back truck come pick it up...
I love watching you work, but when you’re using the handheld cutting wheel/grinder I just wince, and count your fingers each time. You’re so good at what you do, I’ve learned a lot watching but I can’t watch the freehand cutting any more.
How to make a ramp in under 10 Mins! You should be mass producing them think how many you can make in a day! HA! HA! How long did it take you to make? Great job!
what the heck? you build it and you going to drive from Louisiana all the way to Kentucky to deliver? i hope they paying for all the gas and mileage and travel time. Amazing.
When I built my trailer I positioned the hinges so the gate can lay flat on trailer deck when possible, that gate creates a lot of drag standing up like a sail.
What mcms said. That big ramp is okay for short trips but really catches a lot of air at hiway speeds. I'd suggest you cut those hinges off and use something removable. They don't really need to be greaseable since you're not moving the gate up and down hundreds of times a day.
Thats what I plan to do on the converted boat/utility project I just purchased today. I love my tilt trailer because there is never all the drag from an upright gate. But I love how handy a gate is especially if I'm loading multiple machines on. Gonna try to fabricate something that can stand up like his or lay inside the bed still attached.
Love this video, I am new to welding and I've read that if you weld with your skin exposed on your hands it's very dangerous for skin cancer. I see you weld with bare hands. Is this just a myth?
I only weld outdoors can i get away with using my mig with gas? I have been using flux core wire in my mig. Do you have a problems with the gas blowing away and giving crappy welds?
Allen, I live in Ky. and haul trailers all the time. Trailer lights essential if you can't see your trucks tail lights. Over 16 feet requires a tag, but they'll go with the laws in your state. If not required there, then not required here. They don't give 2 craps about a home made trailer, no worries there. If you have farm tags on your truck you are pretty much untouchable. Pretty much. I could drive a semi down the road with no Class A with farm tags and wouldn't have to stop at a weigh station. Carry a spare, some roads here suck! Just sayin. Be safe Brother. Thanks for the vids!
That's a Carry On trailer, the one you're not using. I used to work at Carry On. I wouldn't carry my chainsaw on that piece of crap, you're better off building your own. I quit Carry On because of how they had us build those trailers.

Yall I'm gone build the ramp while yall pack ya bags. Gotta get on the road! This is freakin aswesome
"let me fabricate a big ramp to my trailer _right quick_ before i get on the road & make this delivery." 😂 👍🏼👍🏼 nice, brother.
In my experience, nothing is ever done “right quick” haha. He’s just a master.
Theee ain't nothing that holds you back! Great job and enjoy you trip. You've earned it Brother. "W.W."
Holleran Properties thanks!

Thank you for answering my questions.. Thats awesome, it looks like you have fun at it. I wish you all the best in your business of BBQ's.
Another great job never now you might get some orders.Keep up the great video's
Good job. You gave me some ideas for my trailer ramp
Love your videos, thanks for posting them
WOW! Great Job!
What kind of mesh did you use and how much weight do you think it would hold

Great job. But on the next one...flip the angle iron around on the end of the gate that touches the ground . For a flatter meet on harder surfaces.
Henry Aguero how to install air operated tailg
Awesome 👍 trailer gate

where did you find the wire mesh
Nothing like waiting for the last minute.Sounds like me.
use a long nut and bolt instead of the pins saves time in the center put a piece of pipe through the bolt as a spacer

Sup Brother you might want the spring loaded to lock the gate, very impressed with the gate
He did later on using garage door springs and some what looked like 1/8" cable
Man, do you think that ramp is long enough?
I didn't know you would deliver to Kentucky? What part?
I just purchased a 250 gallon propane tank looking for someone to make it a reverse flow /grill you work is amazing how far are you from Atlanta

Like your videos and builds, dude you need to build a shop

Great video!! Do you have a link for the weldable hinges?? Thanks
No, I buy them at the welding store
I only weld outdoors can i get away with using my mig with gas? I have been using flux core wire in my mig. Do you have a problems with the gas blowing away and giving crappy welds?
You can always put up a tarp to block the wind... I do that all the time... It also block Kids view...
What's the cost to make one like this?
Thank you!
What are the measurements of your trailer ramp or tailgate??
How much weight will the ramp allow?
Cool t-shirt mate. Wish I had one.
John Ellison thanks...its a "weldporn" shirt, I've had it a while but they may still sell them
+Allen's welding/woodworking . Thanks Allen, I might get one. I love your channel. Cheers mate.
love the video.... Is bbq's what you do full time?
Darcy Desmit it's mostly bbq stuff now but I'll build just about anything and I use to do it on the side but been full time for about 8 months
Something you had been meaning to get around to for a while too huh?
What size angle iron did you use to make the ramp?
Your very talented.

stayingawake20 thanks for the info! Farm tags are kind of the same in Louisiana... I'm in Memphis now, will be in Kentucky tomorrow
Not always true, if you take your not plated KY trailer to NC you better have a plate !
Copy that Greg! Thanks for the heads up!
What size metal did you use?
Can wait till you build my pit... I sent everything to your phone. Travel safe.
Where can I find the expanded metal?
I hate bullet hinges. They look nice, but they always lock up even with grease
Where did you get the hing pins from?
really great, I learned alot
So this is were Shia Labeouf is hiding
💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Hey Allen what state do you live in ?
Be safe on the road.
How much in all?
How much what?
as always great
Nice
Hope you invest in a new camera soon. Your videos are great!
Brett Ortiz lol...
Everyone says that, I am soon though
👍👍👍👍👍👍
another LIKE !!!!!!!

ronald nelson anything mass produced is corner cutting at its highest. Once one learns to weld ends up building their own.
or you can slap some more angle iron on there & brace it up.
No welding gloves. Not good!!!!Q
Get this man some gloves..
