Yeah, a couple of my buddies and I would play the crap out of this one too. It was an easy go to game back in the day when hanging out with friends. Good memories.
Thank you guys so much for making these C64 videos, even though I hated this game. So many fun memories from that time and the Commodore piracy "scene".
Been a longer than average last few months, I missed this and it's good to be back! Give me some time and I will be back talking about games to the point of derailment. Also, 3:12 is some good speed run strats!
I loved playing this game... I've gone back recently to replay in the past year a few times and don't have the same 'feeling' about it as I used to. Fun, not hard, tedious in a few areas (DAMN electrical shocks!).... You and Matt bring up a bunch of great points about the game. A classic game non-the-less... one a lot of people had. Nice vid!
The limited selection of games in the 80s I think kept many of our favorites afloat for much longer than they deserved. I'm a bit nervous about Airborne Ranger for that very reason.
Yes, this was a go to game when friends came over to play, along with Spy vs Spy, Mule, and others. Bruce Lee will always hold a special place in my youth.
@@ChrisFreeman_4Bit Sweet, didn't know that. Might check it out. Slow day at the office... sitting at my desk with the door closed watching your last Deathlord video...
So this is a funny coincidence, 8-Bit Show and Tell just released a video about Bruce Lee's secret's and bugs. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/Kiv9O-vVcTs/видео.html
His entire life, Bruce Lee has trained his body for this night, tonight WILL be his night! Will, Bruce ever find his lost honor? What has become of his father? Will he burn his fingers making his mastery of martial arts all too stingy and painful when he tries to karate chop the mournful palace guard? What of Giuseppe's lost love or why he shudders with envy whenever he lays eyes upon the last Klondike bar? Was it even his Klondike bar? Can I have it? Will Bruce out think and outmaneuver the mysteriously great and monstrously powerful wandering ninja, his mirror image? Which one of these fools messed up the gravity? All this and more will be answered as you and Bruce with the help of Yoshimi his powerful yet invisible spirit guardian slowly uncover layer upon layer of intrigue, mystery, and romance in Bruce Lee: Lantern snatcher.
I think I enjoyed this one largely for two reasons. First this was way early in my commodore gaming life, so my expectations were low. Secondly, I usually had someone around to play Yamo, and whether Yamo and Bruce Lee were fighting, or Yamo was pinning down that ninja, it was definitely more fun.
I liked this game as a kid but I never got to beat it. I thought this was the game that had the famous Bruce Lee 'HEYYYAAAA!' scream as (garbled) digitized speech in the intro, but I don't think it was. Does anyone remember this?
My brothers and I used to play this co-op style for hours.

13:20 - the fat green guy lands on the ninja and kills him. For 1984, that's excellent!
I don't think we talked enough about how the enemies are just as vulnerable to traps and each other as you are. It's a great touch.
I loved sprinting just ahead of enemies to hit them with the *electric bushes*.
Lucy Bee: The Lantern of Suggestion
Lucy Bee: The Saga Continues
I thought that was hilarious!

Even for the games that I don't like, it was my favorite period of gaming. Something just magical about it.
I've been gone a long time guys, and it's good to see you two are still doing well!
Was thinking about you just the other day! Glad you're doing well!

And next, see, Bruce Lee 2: Lord of Lanterns :-)
Since the sequel continued the lantern theme... that's a solid title.

this was pretty badass fun that everyone played and enjoyed for several years at the time, but options were pretty limited back then.....D

@@upstairsroomsoftware4143 All of those are great. Mule had a remake recently. I think you can play it on an iPad now?

Agree, this was one of the first few games I encountered on the C64 back in the day. Similar memories to yours. Good times.
i wonder if there will ever be an episode without mentioning autoduel.... :-D
nope
I try to keep it to 1 per show.
Haha I'm already laughing, and less than 1 minute in! This is going to be great.
Thanks! It was a fun start this time.

@@ChrisFreeman_4Bit yes, thanks you that was bothering me haha
loved this game as a kid.
This was by far the best game of 1984.
