This is good. If they add a naval aspect, trading running goods between towns/seas, tengu, fishing, and player housing the game would become legendary.
I recall one of the devs saying that underwater content is actually more difficult to develop than the standard stuff so having even more maps in an underwater expansion is unlikely unless they come up with some kind of breakthrough in that department.
I think Ritualist goes better with the Necromancer, but anyways, nice video. Never thought about to bring up these cool classes from GuildWars1 by making them EliteSpecs for the known classes in GW2.
I like your ideas man and i'd love to see an overhaul of underwater combat. Maybe for the Necromancer elite spec it could be about sacrificing your own health (or minions health) to give boons/heals to your allies. Or inflict damage of cource
Sorry for having to boost my voice because it was very quiet for some reason, resulting with some background noise. I tried to cover it with the amazing GW2 soundtrack but you can probably still hear it. Anyway, I would like to hear your thoughts and feedback on this expansion idea! :)
Ummm as far as i remember the jade sea is kinda no longer jade. I think it was starting to melt(lorewise i mean) even during the events of gw1. In WvW the idea of huge ass ships battlying is AWESOME and the mechanic which makes swimming difficult is a nice and spicy touch but keeping that in mind you really would need a lot of teamwork and coordination which as i heard is not that easy to achieve without some sort of communication programme(ts, discord etc.) but im not a wvw player so maybe this is not an issue in gw2. Fishing is overall a great idea! but maybe not as a mastery but more like an additional gathering sort of system and you can add ascended cooking recipies or something similiar. Obviously the water combat system needs a revamp badly but perhaps not straight up deleting underwater weapons but just make them better, change their skills, add additional, only underwater skills. As to adding spears as the land weapon, as i said earlier, i don't thing deleting underwater weapons is a good idea but adding spears as a land weapon is indeed a great idea. Paragon is also a very good and fun idea especially that warrior doesn't have a sort of "support" role BUT the thing is in the 1st episode of living world s4 they added a dervishish and paragonish npcs as an allies and enemies so as much as i would love a throwback to the 1st game like that and also i'm very interested on how they would make a gw2 paragon, i don't think so that they will add it as an elite spec. as for the monk, indeed a really good idea, touching your friends is always nice( ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ), focus is really interesting idea but a shield main hand could also work pretty well in my opinion. If it comes to ritualist we kinda got a more or less ritualist with the renegade elite spec - we summon spirits to help us and they attack and support depend of whom you summon. The gw1 ritualist wouldn't work so good in gw2 becouse of massive changes in a buildcrafting system - remember(or know if you haven't played gw1), we could bassicly take every skill available in the game and take it as one of the 8 slots. Of course there was a limit becouse you could take skills of maximum of 2 professions and a time(not counting the sunspears, lightbringer, norn, asura, dwarf, ebon vanguard etc. skills). i don't play much thief but a thug spec sound really interesting and flavorful and i understand the lack off some sort off "tanky" role for thieves. Viper is a cool idea but that mechanic when you change into the krait...i mean it's fun but kraits are kinda strongly integrated into lore. Bloodthirst savages that were pushed back from the Deeps of unending ocean by the forces of Steve the deep sea dragon so i don't know about that but the idea is really nice! The sk8erboi elite spec sure looks and sounds funny but doesn't really fit that good in gw2 like scrapper with gyrocopters and holosmith, well depends on how they would handle it but it really does sounds interesting! Overall a great idea for an expansion BUT becouse there is a huge BUT to it...and this BUT is Steve. Many people imagine the underwater expac as a Steve expac and probably for the underwater one they will make us go to the deeps of the unending ocean or something. But many ideas from your video could work when we will go to cantha! Great job on the video my man and i'm open for discussion here! ^_^
I had a topic on the forum with a suggestion to change underwater combat. To give every class an UW traitline, and a bunch of UW specific skills, including a naga legend for the revenant so no more messing around with land skills underwater
I love the idea of naval combat. Here's an idea each class would get their own navel elite. Warriors would get some kind of shout or banner that would buff entire ships near by, or thief would make the ship invisible. Guardian would put a dome around the ship
Boat WvW instead of 10 people max 50 people make huge insane boats. Capturing islands huge ship battles pirates of the Caribbean stile amazing wars. If this ends up happening I will become a WvWer
Like boat wvw a lot. I would think mesmer would be killer with a spear (short rang). Necro with a dagger and stealth. Elementalist with hammer and just make him a insane heavy hitter.
Thumbs up for the guardian's elite specialisation idea which is exactly what I've been dreaming for since they introduced elite specs: A real HEALER spec for the guardian. I really hope they do that, because right now, although I love the guardian stereo-type as a class I don't enjoy playing it as it's, ironically, purely focused on dps. However, focus in main hand wouldn't make sense. They designed that weapon to be off-hand only. Maybe they can introduce a new weapon here as well. Thanks for your thoughts mate!
I also hope they revamp elite specs to reduce power creep while also making them mandatory. There should be a 4th line reserved for the elite that must be chosen, because frankly the e specs will always be better than core. This would make devs balance content around elites rather than failing at making the core viable and upsetting players. A mandatory class upgrade makes since when you have 3 expansions worth to choose from. A controversial idea I imagine.
I love the concept. I've played Archeage and always enjoyed the way boats/ships worked in that game. Anet can sell skins for it and make upgrades and such to make it more conveniant to sail/drive in the open world and make combat upgrades for WvW or combat in the open world. I do like the fishing, it remind me a lot of the booty bay extravaganza from WoW. A revamp for underwater combat is really needed so that's a great idea. Love the elite specs, sk8erboi will probably not make it in the live version xD Great stuff sammpo, good to see someone speculating on the future of our amazing game! Keep it up!
i like most of the stuff you suggested and i'm all aboard for UW expansion. here are my notes from your idea. UW combat and weapons: Underwater weapons getting removed and uw combat being simplified. I see the problem for uw combat being confusing lies mostly on the fact that you don't spend much time uw. Sea maps would make learning uw combat easy by forcing ppl underwater and making UW experience common rather than occasional thing that you forget before having to dive again. Anet has also kept new specializations pretty much same UW as they are on land so if you feel like your base class is not interesting UW you could use some of the elite specializations. Some tweaking would be welcome tho as some classes dont feel that great UW thanks to their weapon designs. Reducing amount of skills would also reduce build diversity and fun for those of us that love experimenting and not just running one meta build. Spears on land would be cool but removing them UW doesn't sound fun to me. As a owner of kamohoali i'm also worried of how silly it would look on land. I also like the idea of spicing up the weapon placement like the shield on mainhand. however on engineers case it would need to change the shield from offhand to mainhand cos no matter how fun would it be to dualwield shields it would be extremely stupid and silly. WvW: About boats and wvw: I would much prefer not to make all of the water filled with legendary monsters. some area maybe but i much prefer fighting ppl with our class skills. Imo siege and boats should be tools to utilize but not the main way to battle. maybe making island based wvw where conquering the keeps would still require classic combat and having boats to be something between a golem and trebuchet. What i mean with that is they would be durable and mobile siege that you could maybe stand on. borderland in my eyes would be island filled coast with deep water but something that is too difficult for large ships so conquering stuff would have to happen with smaller boats and manpower. maybe make owner have keep on land, enemy spawns could be large ships on the corners and rest would be keeps and towers on smaller islands. camps could be underwater and delivery method something like quaggan caravan or some sea creature instead of yaks. classes: I like what you thought for paragon skills. it would definitely need some tweaking as most of the content in game is melee heavy and disabling the skills if foe stands on it would make it by far the worst class in most cases or too complicated to utilize over the other options. but holding the line or king of the hill type of theme sounds fun i ntheory although i fear it would encourage corner stacking gameplay even more. in raids it may not be a problem but that makes dungeons extremely boring already. banners already encourage this. so maybe each utility skills could place 2 areas(one ground targettable and one on your feet) and the buff would be effective as long as both are occupied. there would have to be range limit for how close you can place the areas so they wont overlap. Turning in to krait i don't like. no reason other than i just personally dislike transformation abilities that significantly change the way your character looks. transformation skills are there already tho so its not completely out of possibilities. sk8terbois howering ability is already used by skimmer mount and would make it partly useless. also if expansion happens mostly UW it would be pretty stupid to make class ability to be on top of water effect. but like i said shield mainhand sounds like interesting idea and could and should be invented further. maybe by making reflecting damage much more interactive and powerful mechanic. fishing and maps: fishing would be nice way to spicy up gathering and to form new openworld activity. this could also make old maps matter a bit more again. new maps while being mostly water should also include water free zones other than basic land. underwater caves could have water free tunnels that are inhabited. some sort of domes or air bubbles could open up outpost for humanoid races. main combat situations and traveling should happen UW tho but some stuff to walk and jump on is never a bad idea. jumping puzzles would be just puzzles without jumping after all. Variety just makes things interesting. ships while making sense and being fun also suffer from sk8terboi syndrome as only submarine could open underwater possibilities. comabt ships would be interesting to fight NPC pirates and alike but maps would have to be way bigger than we have seen before to include enough enemies for them. I personally don't want surface to be filled with numerous hostile ships/monsters that are trashmob quality nor do i want boss level mosnters to be too numerous either. cruising needs to be partly relaxing and combat free. in theory bigger enemy galleons or big sea monsters could be fun map meta bosses but i'm not sure if those alone justifies the need of ships for each player. maybe introducing 1 or 2 new mount or small boats in mount slots that have some form of combat mechanics so there will be no 60+ guild galleons filling the surface all the time either. Even if we wouldn't get personal ships we could have ships in metaevents controlled by npcs. moving surfaces in map bosses would be interesting enough imo. ship idea needs to be handled with care as it can easily become over or underused side of the expansion that could also look silly as ppl collide or roadblock eachother near the coast. passing through other ships would also look super silly.
It could draw a completely new type of audience to the game mode if they had the larger Naval battles exclusive to WvW, but you are right, the WvW community doesn't like change
This is good. If they add a naval aspect, trading running goods between towns/seas, tengu, fishing, and player housing the game would become legendary.
I absolutely love the underwater combat in GW2 and always wanted a Sea-Xpac
I recall one of the devs saying that underwater content is actually more difficult to develop than the standard stuff so having even more maps in an underwater expansion is unlikely unless they come up with some kind of breakthrough in that department.
wvw sea borderland - great idea, if you do not think about how little Anet given to wvw. Then you can dream up)
Those are really good ideas, especially the one about changing the underwater combat and underwater expansion. I really hope this becomes something
I think Ritualist goes better with the Necromancer, but anyways, nice video. Never thought about to bring up these cool classes from GuildWars1 by making them EliteSpecs for the known classes in GW2.

What about the under water legendary weapons some player have worked for? Those players would need to be compensated if you remove underwater weapons.
Sorry for having to boost my voice because it was very quiet for some reason, resulting with some background noise. I tried to cover it with the amazing GW2 soundtrack but you can probably still hear it. Anyway, I would like to hear your thoughts and feedback on this expansion idea! :)
Why so many dislikes? Good ideas

Oh and as for the elite specs for the rest classes, no idea :D
Funny fact they actually work at it. XD GJ man!

dont get me hyped, this is way too awesome! i would love to get fishing, more and more cool underwater stuff and that wvw suggestions *-*
A pvp based on boat battles would be the best thing gw2 would offer.
Boat WvW instead of 10 people max 50 people make huge insane boats. Capturing islands huge ship battles pirates of the Caribbean stile amazing wars. If this ends up happening I will become a WvWer

Ritu would be awesome as a new class, or derv
Land spears...yes, YES! I like the boat battles idea, might make me go in WvW.

If I ever see skate board in gw2 I'm done with this for good I can't bring myself playing another perfect world abomination
The forged Riders have a hoverboard-esque weapon so welcome to perfect world.

Too many words AHHHHH!!!!
You should see the pigeon that carries my mail. Government shot my last one cos they thought they were dealing with invading aircraft.
Those are cool ideas! I always liked guild wars 2 underwater combat :D
Ritualist should definietely be Togo
Im actually digging it but the borderland could be easily hated if the islands are too small
It could draw a completely new type of audience to the game mode if they had the larger Naval battles exclusive to WvW, but you are right, the WvW community doesn't like change
did u forgot necro lmao? -hollts his second youtube account
you tell me about the new necro ha!
i think it would be great to go to cantha
and a new race, the Tengu :)
More Water Combat PogChamp
Parody on World of Warcraft Azshara map. Even the Monk class.
Boat pvp sounds amazing
Anet, pls. Give us Sea Dragon already. Hopefully they will use some of your ideas.
Boat WvW only thing I need
underwater com... ResidentSleeper
I like it but the boats seem like they could be very cheesy if you get me.
I do see so I thought it could only be used in the new expansion maps and maybe a few others and WvW
but does any one want underwater tho
Footde Coulde anet just did work on in, so maybe.
Nah mine is better I call it Lappi
Nice, we finally get to meet Joulupukki
