First of all, super cool to see someone else play star ocean 2 on the ps2. I also bought a pimax portal brand new for super cheap on new egg. I am warning you that this device is no good. Do not let this device go to 0% battery under any circumstance. The controllers are always "charging" from the device and must have drained the battery past the point where it would no longer charge. I tried everything, different chargers cables, leaving it plugged up for day and nothing. Lucky i was able to get a refund. This device failed for a reason.
