The worst scam on the Internet?

- Could this be the worst scam on the Internet? These scammers will drain their victims' bank accounts! How do they do this?
I've been watching the scams of Webzant IT Solution Private Limited, of Kolkata, India fool their victims into thinking that they are the police and they need the victim's help to catch a 'hacker' in their bank. This is a video guide to why their scams are so serious.
The company's website: webzant.com/ [This was taken down within 1 hour of this video upload... a sure sign of innocence.]

The audacity of these people to get angry at the victims is outrageous.
Theyre animals, what do you expect
@No Name if you have spare time, the best thing you can do is waste their time
@@potatobake2707 true
They are of course annoyed when people do not cooperate but it's a well known social engineering tactic. People are often incabaple of rational thought or action when they are being badgered or attacked.
@No Name Well there goes my chance at a call center job :p
That old saying, "It's easier to fool someone than it is to convince them they've been fooled" comes to mind. Even when the scammer raised her voice and became berating and abusive toward the victim for talking to the man trying to warn her, the victim didn't want to see she was trusting exactly the wrong people.
I have seen this so much on that catfishing scam, the guy was scammed out of 50k+. The catfishing site showed the guy exactly how they scammed him. The next day he talks to the scammers again and told his so called “girlfriend” that they proved to him that the photos they have sent where stolen and the real girl was on the show saying she never spoke to the man. The scammer said, “That was me, I was on the call with all you guys, I had to say I did not know you because we are not allowed to have a boyfriend why modeling. “ and he believed the scammer. Like you say it’s easier to fool someone than to convince them they are being scammed.
@Lee please don't comment after getting a lobotomy it's only upsetting Lee. I hope you can understand that if you think this you have no functioning thought processes anymore.
@@antonm1834 haha
Because in order to convince someone theyve been fooled, that person would have to consider the idea that they might be foolish. Im not saying getting fooled means youre foolish, it can feel that way. You may just be ignorant of certain things. And thats ok. But i can understand why people would be scared of feeling foolish and start getting defensive. I spent 6 years as a care taker for my grandma until she died at 99. Its not just dimentia that makes the elderly prime victims for scammers. And its not that theyre gullible. They can be very distrustful. Its the embarassment about being forgetful and confused. The fear of being a burden or looking foolish if they ask for help or ask too many questions or accuse the scammer of trying to pull one over on them. If you tell them theyre being scammed it can be really hard for them to come to terms with the idea that they *can* be fooled. It can make them feel like maybe they arent capable of taking care of themselves. And thats a very scary thing to confront in yourself. Just try convincing a senior citizen to get rid of their drivers license.
If you are a wet liberal and automatically trust theIndian voice because 'hey they are all good people' but don't trust the European voice because 'hey they are all evil' then you are ripe for this kind of scam, which I find kind of ironically satifying, ooh am I bad???
I love when I get these calls, I love to totally waste their time. It makes my day to get them angry . People need to know they need to call companies directly .

The surprise in her voice is priceless
I can't believe she thought she could just fool him with a really obvious Indian accent. And did she forget that he actually heard her voice after calling her?
Seriously, they need to study English. Their accent and broken English are dead giveaways.
At first I thought that Annette was shockingly gullible. She was like many, caught by the scammer but FIVE hours of absolute shit, being afraid of losing her money, not understanding what was going on she will have been worn down, knackered and absolutely bewildered. I'm so glad that you got through to her Eventually before real damage was done. Thank you so much for what you do 😊
You would think the people getting a call from the "national crime agency", would think it suspicious that the scammer can't speak proper English.
@Elijah Albrecht idk
the fact that nobody gets suspicious when a “company” like “microsoft” wants to be paid in gift cards is just mindblowing to me
or they want to be paid cash but you absolutely can't tell the bank it's for their company and you have to wrap it like you're smuggling drugs.
Its mostly old people.
@@Darklustmoonchild Old people will fall for the lies, sure, but I'm sure they'd know--under normal circumstances--that gift card payments or smuggled money methods are not legit. Old people still frequent businesses and I'm sure many worked in or owned them. Problem is the scammers yell and them and scare them into not thinking straight. Maybe I'm wrong though. I wonder if you just went out and asked random old people what they'd say. Give them something like:
*What are legitimate ways a business will ask you to repay them? (Fill in all that apply.)*
*O* Cash in person
*O* Cash by mail, wrapped in foil
*O* Credit/Debit card over the phone
*O* Gift cards
*O* PayPal or similar through their website
*O* Selling drugs on the street corner
Yeah right? I mean, it’s really amazing to me. Then again, people fall for all sorts of stuff. People are much more gullible than you realize.

I would never tolerate being on the phone for 5 hours. I would end the call after half an hour max. telling them to contact me by the details they had, my address, while I checked to make sure it was genuine. So sad as the lady appeared to be fairly old and people that do something like that are pure vermin. Thank you for doing this and trying to save people's money.
Scammers (with heavy Indian accents while pretending to be UK police): Telling the victim to take photos of their passport, drivers license, to give them access to their computer, to give them access to their smartphone...
Jim (native English speaker): Tells the victim that they are being scammed. Doesn't ask them to do anything.
Clueless victim: I don't know who to trust!!!!!
Seriously?
The Scammers put their victims under a huge pressure. an elderly person can not handle that pressure
😂😂😂
Pretty understandable, scammers use what is called "poisoning the well". They warn the victim of people who will tell them things that go against the scammers' narrative, tell them that these people are a russian hacker called 4chan or whatever, and not to trust them. Thereby they make their victims form an opinion on Jim before they even hear him, which makes his task way harder. It's a well known propaganda tool, and definitely worth looking into.

Exactly. It's like the scam "collection agencies" here in the US that call and tell you there is a warrant for your arrest and you have to pay them money on a Green Dot card to keep from being arrested. I wish folks would stop and think for a moment. If the cops have a warrant for your arrest, the last thing they're going to do is call you and let you know they're coming. In real life, they just suddenly show up and arrest you. That's the whole point.

After 5 hours of this. After an hour you’d want to just hang up, she must have no life :(
The heavy accents saved my elderly mother from many scams I am sure. She couldn’t understand them so she just hung up!
If that’s what saved her, you really need to take her devices away and lock her bank account. This isn’t gonna end well...
Once a scammer called me and said can you hear me, the location was from (London) most likely not and I said " who is this , who the f*CK are you " or something like that .they where so scared they hung up on me,
They called back in the evening or next day I can't remember, but the same thing happened and the just gave up
I was wondering if this is more believable in the UK because of the multiculturalism
@Janet Holmes. I wouldn't rely on that, because they are using Americans as well. And there are American scammers that have been operating for many years before the Indians started doing. I remember a case where a man became a multimillionare, and his scam was sophisticated but he would show up to people's houses to collect the money. He would target elderly, especially women who lived alone). But eventually he was captured by law enforcement. It is too easy now to figure out people's age online, so they can specifically target elderly people.
Always amazes me how rude they are whilst trying to scam their victims. I’ve been asking them “do your parents know what you do?” or “do you believe in karma?”. Scumbags. Thanks for all you do Jim.
Every time I asked them some questions to find out more about the company, they hang up. And if things don't go along their script, they're becoming rude and also hang up. Like employees of all respected companies do 😂
Nice work! I must say the scammers just try to scam but what is more frustrating that the police won’t do anything to stop them. You have done in one day more than police would’ve for 5 years.

Call centers are so common in India, because of lack of real jobs, and overpopulated cities. That’s why most call centers are in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and even sometimes Jaipur. Smaller cities don’t have as many because they are managed better than say Delhi. India is a really cool country but scam call centers are sprinkled all over the country. Also, in regards to the SSA, they won't even reach out to me. Instead they will reach out to my aunt as I receive social security disability benefits and my aunt is my payee so everything goes to her. I will never give them any info.
In fact, just last night I received a message from "Netflix" saying that my (non existing) account's payment method is not working and I needed to use a link that if looked at quickly resembles the Netflix web address, but it is doesn't have the correct correct spelling of Netflix. So, I sent them back a message informing them that I don't even have a Netflix account (I don't, I share my aunt's account) and that I know that they are scammers and can go fuck themselves.

That's the type of people that fall for these scams
And they are being told by the media to trust everybody, not use their instincts.
@@a-dutch-z7351 This. These people cannot think for themselves, has almost zero critical thinking skills. Baby boomer generation who for the most are totally brainwashed.
@@a-dutch-z7351 I don't think the media is behind it. It is scammers. They are trained to convince (Mostly elderly) to make them think the scammers are real.
@@loslingos1232 The PC-culture makes that they cannot use their instincts because it would be considered racist. Even though it is very natural to be sceptical if a bank or institution calls you with a number abroad and the caller cannot speak proper English, speaks with a clear accent and not only that, he also evidently does not 'feel' the language, they talk like they are robots. But people are told to be tolerant at all cost, to disable common sense.
How an earth can you not be suspicious of call from "virgin" or "sky" yelling down the phone at you getting angry
I mean they intentionally target gullible people. The reason the pop-ups etc are so crappy is that it's an early filter for those that aren't likely to fall for scams.
Tbf the last time I called Sky they were quite aggressive.
I've always wondered this too. I asked my parents once if any customer service person had ever gotten angry and rude with them and they said no, only scammers do that. Lol so yah, still don't understand it.
@@Blackcivicsi1 just because it hasn't happened to two people you know, doesn't mean it hasn't happened to anyone else. I've had experiences with customer service reps that are aggressive.
James I think it's an attempt at emotional control - subconsciously to seem like an authority figure is getting angry with them so they will comply to make that uncomfortable feeling go away.
Just tapping in but by far out of all vids watched this is the worst so far. So thankful you stopped her from being scammed.
For most people this is obviously a scam, however there are so many elderly people that fall victim to this and its so heartbreaking :(
They're the prime target old and gullible with life-savings
actually stats show that young people are the biggest "customer of theirs"
@@michapaananen8522 whelp that explains why a bunch of young people are broke as fuck
@@michapaananen8522 Stats show that older people fall for phone based/tech support scams far more than young people do.
Young people fall for employment agency scams, investment scams, and even debt relief scams.
@@michapaananen8522 Uhh no. There's literally another of Jims videos where he found a list on a scammers computer showing the scam companies recent victims. As Jim said, the average age of the victims WAS 78. 78! On the file list you see the date of births of the victims and its a bunch of 1940s and 1950s for their year of birth. The vast majority of the victims of these tech and IRS scams are the elderly. You just either lied or you misunderstood something you read. Either way you said something completely wrong. Lonely over 60s are the main victims of these scams.
"Dont tell anything about us"
Soo shady
@@JimBrowning Because they are the "secret police" lol
It's when the scammers go absolutely mental with "I TOLD YOU NOT TO DO THAT NOW I'VE TAKEN ALL YOUR MONEY" that people still do not then think it's even a little weird. Hmm
@@unexpecteditem7919 i read that quotation in my head exactly how these scammers would scream it down their microphones.
@@unexpecteditem7919 I would like to compare it to domestic abuse for a moment.
People outside, who have a completely unbias perspective on the situation, will immediately recognise "I'm hurting you for your own good" as a clear sign of abuse.
But the people on the inside who are victims of it will fall prey to the belief that it really is for their own good.
In an ideal world, people would recognise when they're being fucked with, but sadly we do not live in such a world... we live in one where those who want to take advantage know how to guilt others into believing them.
@@JimBrowning probably primarily because the victims are ignorant to these types of scams (which makes them overly trusting and susceptible)
5 hours on the phone, isn't that a clue?, banks aren't that desperate.
people are honestly wanting to be scammed at some point. How many times does your bank have to tell you they will never ask for your password, PIN, etc, and you just give it out to people instead.
Why do people pick up their phone when it's someone they don't know calling? Why do they fall for all of this? Seriously she spent 5 hours on the phone with them and never thought to ask any family or friends she knew in real life?
"Don't tell your bank" is the same thing as a kid. If you're in the park and a stranger says "don't tell your parents"... it's a pretty good bet you need to tell your parents right freaking now.
Great job! Thank you for doing this work. We’re all sitting ducks unless we’re more tech savvy or others are helping us. 👍
"The bad people are trying to hack you!" How manipulative.
These people deserve no sympathy. Thank God we have Jim Browning!
How about thank Jim's parents we have him ? Or just thank Jim ? Thanking someone that allows scamming in the first place is just plain stupid.
@@ahypernova May God bless you LOL
@@ahypernova we have you to blame for allowing scamming then cause you haven't done anything and are allowing it
@Heather Petersen Sorry! Too tired of the idea of god!

hackers: "don't talk to them, Monzo never calls you!"
also hackers: "but we called you, just ignore that..."
"hackers"
They are scammers, it has nothing to do with hacking.
I cant be the only one who read your comment with indian accent.
No one on TY can touch you Jim. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!
Its amazing how many elderly people fall for this. I am glad that I have educated my 82 year old mom and both of my 85+ inlaws about scams
"It's an elaborate way to convince the victim he's a police officer."
Indian guy: "I am police officer. I send money. Tracking money. Me find criminals."
im convinced
Understandable have a nice day
Damn, he might actually be a police officer tho
I assume they phone London telephone numbers. London is majority non-White now so having an Indian accent with poor English might just convince some people.
@@daviddavidson2357 lol london is still majority white, 80% of greater london is white en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_London
Imagine if its actually Kitboga on the other end of the phone call.
lmao, possible possible
i wanna see that one day, i would shit my pants
I hope Jim & Kit does a collab one day
If someone EVER says "don't talk to your bank", you immediately hang up the phone. That's like if you were a kid, met a stranger in the park, who said "we don't tell your parents about this."
I was a teller a number of years ago. A member came in, and wanted to withdraw an official check for nearly her entire account (~$4,400). I made small talk while doing some checks, and found she didn't normally do this. Tried to ask light questions like, "going on a vacation?", etc. Not only did she not answer me, she was acting suspicious. So I kept prodding.
Finally she says ".....they told me not to tell the bank". It was the lottery scam.
Even after telling her, she didn't believe it was a scam. Even after showing her online how it was a scam, it took several more minutes for her to finally admit that.
How do people hear "don't tell you bank", and it doesn't raise any sort of god damned alarm bells.
You are a true hero, please know that. Humanity need you
Their rudeness is an immediate red flag. I will not speak or give details to anyone who just calls me, even if it is my own bank, I suggest that I will call them back on their official phone number. If they are legit [and it has happened that they were], they will understand, and all the details will be on the record anyway. Just use common sense. Rudeness makes me hang up instantly and contact someone from the place they say they are calling from.
Very well said. Good advice to follow.
I work for a financial institution and this is exactly what I tell people to do. Always hang up and call the official line directly to know for certain if it is a scam.
@@abrararifify I tell people to do this as well, and I always get the stupidest response... something akin to "well I don't want to be rude".
No, banks are used to people being super cautious with their own money, and they completely understand why.
You aren't gonna come across as road, you're gonna come across as someone who is sensible.
If they have an Indian accent and give you an English name, beware.
@@abrararifify Sometimes, if you hang up, the line does not disconnect, especially with old phone networks. There is a scam where the scammers will phone you claiming to be your bank, ask you to hang up and phone them back(your banks number). They will stay on the line(still connected) and when you dial your bank, play a recorded ringtone and then "reconnect".
It is not about being racist, but We should create a general wisdom about receiving calls, regarding financial issues, banks, hacks, and refunds with heavy Indian accents, 95% chances are you are getting scammed
Its true
It's not racist if it is statistically correct
@@uggmonster8795 Sadly, it is. I mean, it's really not. But it is in the current times.
Left-wing politics heavily favor feelings over facts, so anything that negatively describes anyone who isn't white- is automatically racist.
@@ThatShadowBannedGuy very true
well you said it ! I didn't ! but you are right ahah :)
I've had a couple and have allowed them to ramble on for as long as I feel and then I tell them that I use a Linux OS I've never heard anyone hang up so quickly and noisily.
