as for the affixes and stats, for optimum performance, you also kinda need to understand how the number stacks. For the example you provided, yes it looks like the legendary sword is better. However, the rare one adds power to four different multipliers: (1) the base damage (looks like a 10% increase), (2) critical damage, (3) damage to close enemies and damage overtime, and (4) strength which is also a separate multiplier (also almost 10% increase). On the other hand, the legendary sword seems to have more stats, but all of them except the critical damage need to add up before multiplying other things. Which one is more powerful is still depending on your build, but they may be closer than you think.
I was looking for that in comment. That "tip" is borderline misleading because you are absolutely right, as you stated, the superior weapon gives a "base damage" bonus which will tremendously scale when affected by all the intrensic + others stats that stack along the way. Usually, the best approach to measuring what better weapon is, is to go fight with your equipment window opened, pay close attention to your attack power and notice how it fluctuates to show you your total power with all the additive and multiplicative stats applied through fighting throughout various situations. Do that for each weapon and evaluate the best weapon for your build but usually, a 100+ power growth is almost guaranteed to have a noticeable impact. If I was this guy, I'd have gone for the yellow weapon for sure, his build is so far from being optimized to favor affixes over such a base damage growth.
This is what I am always wondering. Is the base STR bonus better than one of those other stats? Should I focus more on the base attribute stat over some other beneficial bonus?
@@thanx4tehfish884 The general idea is that you want to improve all multipliers in a balanced way (skill level, critical, vulnerable, weapon damage, main stat, additive multipliers). The lower the multiplier is, the bigger the return when you improve it, so you always want to prioritize your lowest multiplier. The global multipliers are always good (if you see a number with (x)) because they are always independent. You normally see big numbers for additive multiplier (+30% +40% damage to xxx), but that multiplier probably is already +200%. At that point, a +30% is basically equivalent to 10%(x). But still, 10%(x) is good. Basically if you focus on one thing too much, that thing will stop being good.
So at around 13:15 you said something about enchanting multiple affixes on the same item, but when I tried, it seemed like I could only have one enchanted affix at a time. For example, you replaced the affix that gave you +1 rank of kick for the +9 all stats. If you tried to re-enchant the shadow plate, you would be forced to reroll the +9 all stats affix, and would not be able to roll for any of the other affixes. Am I correct in assuming that? Or did I miss the option to reroll the other affixes?
One mistake I made at first was thinking your core stat was super important in early levels. I would try to prioritize weapons with my core stat, not realizing that the core stats on items 1-50 don’t actually do much for you and your overall weapon damage is better.
Yeah, definitely do imprint, but don't burn your high/max roll imprints. You can identify this by going into your options and enabling both "advanced tooltip" settings.
@heavenlydogg with tooltips on, it will show a value at the top end of the bracket ( or low end if it's a cool down based aspect). For example: each instance of damage increases your armor rating by .5 ( .2-.5)
I would double check that salvaging to get your gem back thing. I did it once but it hasn't worked since. I tried as recently as yesterday & i'm not given the option to salvage an item if it has a gem in it. So, there's a bug either way. Either they don't want it done and some people are getting lucky or they are ok with it being done & some of are prevented due the bug
never imprint aspect on weapons, you change them fast as you progress so early game you don't want waste component on weapon you can change almost every 2-3 levels ! In fact if you have something powerful try to imprint it on you amulet; and keep it until level 45-50
If I’m understanding aspects correctly, you can’t stack aspects? For an example if an aspect grants an item a barrier absorbing X damage for X seconds, and it only happens for every 30 seconds, putting that aspect on another defensive piece of armor doesn’t change anything, correct?
3:46 wait, I thought that when you extract an aspect, and then later imprint it to another item, the aspect stats re-roll? For example, you get a max roll aspect on a level 30 lege. You extract it, and then later down the road you go to imprint it to a high level item. At that point, don’t the aspect stats re-roll upon imprinting? I thought I saw a video from the red hair Diablo guy saying that.
Until watching this, I legitimately thought the unlocked Aspects were passive buffs not needing to be added to equipped gear! After not seeing any blight appear in my Bone Prison, I stumbled upon your channel and am destroying much more powerfully now! Question, once you hit 50 and say you find a perfect piece, could you take that piece with you to 100 through upgrading etc or are you gonna have keep grinding to find the same piece but at a higher level?
It's highly unlikely you will find a piece at 50 which is "perfect", the item level is going to be too low even if you happen to get good rolls on it. There are several different of levels of legendary and you can't even find some of them before tier 3 and 4. It's an ARPG, always expect that you will have to keep grinding.
@@Tobberoth Cheers man. I thought that’ll be the case. Just didn’t know how much of a level improvement the upgrades would take it. From what I can tell you get 5 upgrades for each piece so grinding it is
What would be the differences between a 725 and 810 item power? Generally speaking. Would the roll range stay the same? Would the roll stat be higher chance to roll towards the higher end?
So I believe their is a breakpoint after 725 in the 800's or so. Basically the 810 item power item would have much higher stat rolls by default because the item power is much higher, meaning the ranges would start higher. This is why higher item power items are generally better because you get higher stats/rolls. The actual roll is random in the range but the higher item power items have a higher base roll range if that makes sense. EX. 725 [15-20%] 810 [18.5-23%]
@@CreativeGamingRUclips thank you. It would make sense that the range is higher or at least something is beneficial the higher item power you get. I do know the importance of getting good stat and good rolls, so that plays into it too.
so i went to apply aspects to my gear and it requires crafting mats from disenchanting legendary gear which i dont have not sure how thats "cheap" but yeah the listed gold cost was low
Great video, the game is very friendly to new players but a lot to take in for an old player at the same time. Got a level 25 necro and its been quite the time getting it figured out but the fact you can refund your players level ups as you go is very helpful.
I was so mad when I realized you could only extract and imprint an aspect once because I had an aspect that basically made me immortal and I outleveled the armor super fast. Worst mistake ever.
For mistake 3, I had a question about DPS, if it's lower dps how low should I go for better affix? For example, I had a weapon which was -300 to -500 with decent stats. Is that too low and should keep my current weapon?
He doesn't mention you need cash AND mats. Imprinting items you are just going to swap out in a couple levels, you're going to run short. Imprinting crap that isn't the best at 50 and you're going to waste harder to get mats
I just got a random 47% basic attack speed and made my lightning druid a fkin legend, I cut through mobs like butter refilling my spirit in seconds. Now I leveled and extracted the aspect but I'm afraid to use it on a new item yet as I'm only lvl 30...
My question is like to what point do you hog aspect cause at some point u r always gonna get a better gear/armour but then u don’t get to reimprint the same aspect
I heard that if you extract a perfect aspect and hold it in your inventory, that roll will NOT drop ever again - unless you use up the aspect that you've held in your inventory. Like, that roll of that aspect gets locked down from dropping in the future. is that true?
I thought imprinting was single use regardless of from where and didn't imprint until level 50. What a sad lesson that was. My character was completely reborn with a nice imprint set
Do aspects stack? I'm seeing builds online that will only mention 1 armor and 1 jewelry aspect so kind of confused if I need to add them to all pieces of gear and if I can add the same ones or want to pick 5 different aspects for each armor slot.
A problem you're going to run into until you get to tier 3 is you're not going to have the materials to imprint anything yourself , unless you rolled it on a piece and removed it, or atleas that was what I was running into and I was breaking down everything I got.
I found at a certain point I couldn't imprint onto items that were above a certain item power level because it started costing a new resource I had zero of. I think it was anything over 460 item power
@@erichollingsworth5598 yeah I have no clue where to get the new material. I just ended up imprinting on like 440 item power and it was only 10 of those yellow crystals as the material cost
@@kylebusc3624 You need to salvage your rare and legendary loot to get these special items. If you need fiend rose, those are rare herbs found in helltide events
I never knew you can salvage the gear to get the gems back. So often have I just sold back my items with gems on them thinking I can't extract the gem out. Thank you!!
The one thing I did while lvling is upgrade to a max of upgrade 2, specially if it was a decent roll, might not be much on a single item however all the items combinded the upgrades do stack, though I didnt start upgrading until lvl 20 on my first character Edit: I only really upgraded legendary items with good rolls to upgrade 3 if I kmew its 100% worth it but only really did this to weapons, also at 50+ I normally upgrade to 2-3 now depending on what mats it use and what item it is/legendary.
Yea, pretty much that. Anything usable (as in with things that actually benefit me) yellow/rare I dropped since the moment those started showing up immediately got at least two upgrades. The grey and blue mats are easy to come by and eventually you just end up swimming in them so no point worrying about those
Also that Aspects output extracted from lower item power gear will always reflect the same output even if placed on a higher item power. ie. If you extract an aspect , cast 2 [2-5] extra ice shards, from a 340 item gear and imprint it on a 725 item gear; it will read as cast 2 (5-10) extra ice shards. The range will reflect the current item power but the actual output will reflect the previous item power.
Great video thank you I was really confused. So 1-50 use dungeons aspects and keep items ones, use stones but don’t upgrade. After 50 use item aspects, upgrade and stones and switch gear every what levels ? 5-10 ?
So codex of power are static but offer static stats buffs? So your saying an item drop can offer same codex od power stat but stronger so better to extract and go over your codex of power for higher same ability
Essentially the codex power ones always give you the minimum percentage roll. If it’s a 10%-20% it will always give you 10%. If it’s a random drop it could roll anywhere in that range, so it could roll as an example 18%. In that case extract it from that piece of gear to use it on yours becuase it’s better
There is so much content so many games. The lvl of drops for media is so intense. I miss the late 90s early 2000s when you had one game to focus on. Now it's like college lvl calculus for 10 different hobbies all at once.
Disagree about point #3 weapon stats. The most important highest scaling damage stats are Crit Dmg/Chance, Vulnerable Dmg, and Main Stat (Dex/Int/Str), and for some builds Attack Speed. So you want the highest base DPS weapon with as many of those stats on it as possible. The other stats like Damage to Close, Damage to Bleeding, Damage to Stunned, etc. don’t scale as well and aren’t as important, even if they are all simultaneously applicable with your build. Your Corpse Sunder sword with higher DPS already has Main Stat on it, and you can reroll enchant one of the other stats to Crit Dmg or Vulnerable Damage. It’s a far stronger weapon than your lower dps one with the four weaker dmg stats.
Didn't even realize I could pull stats off of items, thankfully I am only lvl 57 but I am sure I have tossed some good rolls due to ignorance, thanks for the vid!
one question i have about the codex of powers is, sometimes it requires the crafting material you get from dismantling legendaries. i have a codex im trying to put on a ring but the only one i can put it on that only cost gold is a legendary that already has a good aspect.
Awesome video thanks I wasted a lot of gold. Also I saved every aspect and wish I had salvage some of that gear so I could upgrade stuff now just hit 50 last night. So gear goes beyond 50? Or is that cap I thought I saw a 54 in this video again really solid video I wish I saw this a week ago nicely done
People always talk about putting all these aspects on this and that but it says I don't have the materials. Guess I have to salvage a legendary weapon to get the materials to put the aspect on an item. Well I do find legendaries but never legendary weapons. Lv. 39
I noticed you are comparing gear by moving around (this might be for the video), if you press Left Shift once it will toggle the compare against what you have equipped, this has to be done every time you start a new game tho
A level 30 item can’t have a high roll as that item might drop at a higher level with a different range. At level 30 3-8 % but maybe the same aspect at level 70 says 13-18 %. So no need to save them
FYI for all the ww barb player trying to do capstone for T3. Swap over to rend for the dungeon it will safe I time and lvl. You can do it at lvl 45ish with 3000 armour with 1k+ attack power.
Why does my Codex of Power have a diamond with a circle in the right hand corner? When I click on it it takes me to my inventory. I know I have plenty of aspects from dungeons unlocked. Maybe it’s because I’m in season mode?
What about gearing in tier 4? I upgraded all my tier 3 gear to basically max all sacred legendary. So now this ancestral stuff is a tad bit better but im torn do i put it on but you lvl fast in tier 4 do i even bother because in theory i should get better gear every 5-10 levels or so. But then ill be doing less dmg to enemies. Idk what to do with my gearing at this point
do aspects of legendaries stack - ie i have 2 itmes the both give me increased attack speed for basic atacks,, should i wear both or only the one with the highest aspect percentage
I feel like I’m stuck with an old weapon, b/c even though I’ve picked up +300 power weapons, they would drop ‘All Stats’ by 44! How do I reconcile with that!?
I wonder if you go to remove an aspect from lets say a weapon that has a gem in it currently if you would get the gem back also This video was very helpful thanks!!
I got into gaming before there were these RUclipsrs telling us how to build characters or beat bosses. There was no internet to search out maps or anything like that. We played to have fun. Try something. If it works, great. Use it. If it doesn't, find something else or another way and try again. Didn't stop me from playing because I died more than 30 times in an hour or 2. It made me think and try things and that's when I became a gamer. I think some people really do get caught up in the best builds and all that. I watch these to learn how things work because I don't always know what does what. I'll still build a character that I like to run. The people that put out these videos put in a ton of time and effort, so I don't want to downplay any of them at all. This was just to support the statement that you can have fun, even if you don't have the strongest build out there and you're going through the game one-shot killing everything.
First video I've seen describe the weapon tier system ... so many of us are used to gear being better the higher the level it is - and so we look at "required level" and expect it to be better - and nowhere I googled would explain it fully at all. It's an odd system, but when you realize you can drop level 69 gear and it can be as good (or better) as level 70+
Great video thanks! Question: In you affixes section, where you do the comparison between the two swords, how material is the +to primary stat in the calculation? The yellow sword you showed provided +92 Strength. How can we know if that ends up providing more damage output than the +% dmg on the legendary sword?
You really can’t because atk power can lie to you. However big damage multipliers like critical and vulnerable damage and the best to have and more powerful than the str. Stay mostly

Yeah, definitely do imprint, but don't burn your high/max roll imprints. You can identify this by going into your options and enabling both "advanced tooltip" settings.
How do you know if an imprint is a high/max roll?
@heavenlydogg with tooltips on, it will show a value at the top end of the bracket ( or low end if it's a cool down based aspect). For example: each instance of damage increases your armor rating by .5 ( .2-.5)
I'm a brand new Diablo player and I had no idea about any of this haha. Thank you
Absolutely! Same here
Great video 🤘💯🙏thanx
I would double check that salvaging to get your gem back thing. I did it once but it hasn't worked since. I tried as recently as yesterday & i'm not given the option to salvage an item if it has a gem in it. So, there's a bug either way. Either they don't want it done and some people are getting lucky or they are ok with it being done & some of are prevented due the bug
It works every time as of now
First time ever playing a Diablo game and man there’s so much to take in but I feel like I’m starting to get the hang of it
never imprint aspect on weapons, you change them fast as you progress so early game you don't want waste component on weapon you can change almost every 2-3 levels ! In fact if you have something powerful try to imprint it on you amulet; and keep it until level 45-50
this is perfect guide for me because i'm new to this series and i was soooooooo lost. thank you so much
If I’m understanding aspects correctly, you can’t stack aspects? For an example if an aspect grants an item a barrier absorbing X damage for X seconds, and it only happens for every 30 seconds, putting that aspect on another defensive piece of armor doesn’t change anything, correct?
Correct
I felt so moronic and foolish, but learned the error of my ways and greatly appreciated the info you provided!
I subscribed for sure.
You still playing? I got the game a month ago and have been having a blast!
Whoa. I had no idea that upgrading gear made it more powerful. Consider my mind blown.
I was so mad when I realized you could only extract and imprint an aspect once because I had an aspect that basically made me immortal and I outleveled the armor super fast. Worst mistake ever.
Ouch
You will find it again if you keep playing.
Just spend obols and hope you get lucky.
For mistake 3, I had a question about DPS, if it's lower dps how low should I go for better affix? For example, I had a weapon which was -300 to -500 with decent stats. Is that too low and should keep my current weapon?
13:26 Exchanging more than one affix on an item isn't possible, is it?
Do not imprint weapons early. They will be replaced the most during leveling and most of your dps.
yup. a lot of you tubers sayoing imprint, but then 30 mins later your gear has been power crept
Only imprint the ones you get from dungeons. This helped me a lot with my leveling build with the druid.
I say Imprint... but don't use your good aspects. That's also what he's saying.
Also, upgrade all of your gear to level 3. It's all the cheap common materials. Level 4 is where it starts using rares
He doesn't mention you need cash AND mats. Imprinting items you are just going to swap out in a couple levels, you're going to run short.
Imprinting crap that isn't the best at 50 and you're going to waste harder to get mats
I've been unable to get the materials needed to imprint an aspect into my gear. I'm only level 40 but feel the mats should be easier to find.
Everyone else’s explanation of aspects was confusing. Your video did a great job ! Ty!
Lmao I deleted so many teir 0 aspects because I didn't know wtf I was doing. Thanks for the info. Definitely received a like and follow from me
Thank you!
Does the stats on the weapon ONLY benefits the weapon itself, or it applies to all weapons?
@@kylebusc3624 this is the problem I’m having now 😢
@@erichollingsworth5598 yeah I have no clue where to get the new material. I just ended up imprinting on like 440 item power and it was only 10 of those yellow crystals as the material cost
@@kylebusc3624 I think we get the new Resources from salvaging legendaries above a certain power level.
Thank you!!
The one thing I did while lvling is upgrade to a max of upgrade 2, specially if it was a decent roll, might not be much on a single item however all the items combinded the upgrades do stack, though I didnt start upgrading until lvl 20 on my first character
Edit: I only really upgraded legendary items with good rolls to upgrade 3 if I kmew its 100% worth it but only really did this to weapons, also at 50+ I normally upgrade to 2-3 now depending on what mats it use and what item it is/legendary.
Forgot to mention the resources for imprinting are somewhat rare when leveling 1-50 i think i have 3 at 42 level
Great video. Touched on alot of things that most don't deep dive into.
Def. calculus rn
Thank you!!! Been wasting money removing gems thinking I’d lose them before scrapping them.
When to exchange the legendary I'm wearing to a rare one with higher power?
Getting a gem out/back from salvaging an item instead of paying the jeweler to unsocket it. 🤯 Appreciate ya!!
Wish I saw this yesterday.. but all the more thank you for the vid!
People always talk about putting all these aspects on this and that but it says I don't have the materials. Guess I have to salvage a legendary weapon to get the materials to put the aspect on an item. Well I do find legendaries but never legendary weapons. Lv. 39
You will, almost there!
So codex of power aspects are infinite, but theyre just not infinite in the since of being able to reapply them to the same gear piece?
I noticed you are comparing gear by moving around (this might be for the video), if you press Left Shift once it will toggle the compare against what you have equipped, this has to be done every time you start a new game tho
A level 30 item can’t have a high roll as that item might drop at a higher level with a different range. At level 30 3-8 % but maybe the same aspect at level 70 says 13-18 %. So no need to save them
For lower level players, is it better to salvage gear that you don't need, or is it better to sell for gold?
3:38 The game would glitch or something and not allow you to do it sometimes. I found if you just log out and back in it would let me imprint
I have been sp playing for around a month not sure about the aspect stuff but just using gems alone helps me allot thanks for this vid it helps
FYI for all the ww barb player trying to do capstone for T3. Swap over to rend for the dungeon it will safe I time and lvl. You can do it at lvl 45ish with 3000 armour with 1k+ attack power.
How did you upgrade the level on the armor??
Why does my Codex of Power have a diamond with a circle in the right hand corner? When I click on it it takes me to my inventory. I know I have plenty of aspects from dungeons unlocked. Maybe it’s because I’m in season mode?
What about gearing in tier 4? I upgraded all my tier 3 gear to basically max all sacred legendary. So now this ancestral stuff is a tad bit better but im torn do i put it on but you lvl fast in tier 4 do i even bother because in theory i should get better gear every 5-10 levels or so. But then ill be doing less dmg to enemies. Idk what to do with my gearing at this point
tips were very helpful for me
do aspects of legendaries stack - ie i have 2 itmes the both give me increased attack speed for basic atacks,, should i wear both or only the one with the highest aspect percentage
I feel like I’m stuck with an old weapon, b/c even though I’ve picked up +300 power weapons, they would drop ‘All Stats’ by 44! How do I reconcile with that!?
I wonder if you go to remove an aspect from lets say a weapon that has a gem in it currently if you would get the gem back also
This video was very helpful thanks!!
Great content! Been playing a month now and all of this helped lol
Is it possibe to find the perfect stats?
This was the most informative video I have run across so far! Thank you!
in the gem section you talk about salvaging for getting the gem out for free has someone tested if you sell the item over salvage?
All great tips thank you....
Do aspects stack? There is an aspect that gives necromancer more skeletons and I was wondering if it stacks
What are those 2 extra slots on the character's feet?
What are are stats to look out for and also to preferably don’t want?
Totally agree with this take!!
These tips enlightened me, thx man.
Thank you, i didn't realize i can remove it from other items, I thought it's only these ones from the dungeons
Thanks for showing all that you can extract a gem without paying through the blacksmith, thank you.
incredibly good video and easy to understand - thank you!
Awesome video! Thank you for the breakdown!
@8:30 OMG dude -- use the compare function!
Super helpful and informative. Thank you!
Stay mostly
@@CreativeGamingRUclips Hmm gotcha, ok thank you! Guess I'll just treat the stat increases as a nice bonus rather than a primary decision point
Yesterday I was extracting aspects and some were cut half power some gear remain same is this random or bug
I have no idea what I'm doing but cleaving demons in twine with my Great Axe while the deep voiced man tells me what's going on is a fun adventure.
