- VIDEO SCARIES - TV HIJACKINGS AT GUNPOINT

What is it about 1987 for Television :0
Also, David Horowitz and Bill Close are cool.
Also, the line about the forefathers from Mr. Guin in the second story was weirdly apt.
@SpaceBlox patrons often get early access. :3
The bite of that year. (jk)
istg if fnaf did it as a joke (1987) imma flip out
Bill Close is such a chad, he read that rambling nonsense with a completely straight face and even shook that guy's hand afterwards. Even under the highest pressure imaginable he acquitted himself faultlessly.
It's unfortunate that people who clearly need help were just thrown in jail but hey thats retributive justice for you
Major Props to Bill Close, he not only read the statement like it was part of the broadcasting, but he showed great sincerity and compassion for the man, even standing up for him to not have the police rough him up. That's the kind of upright behavior towards life I strive for in my own, I only hope others try to in their own way
I have so much respect for the professionalism of journalists. It takes a lot of improvisation, wisdom, and class to pull off a lot of the things they do every day.
Channel 4 news Los Angeles
David Horowitz and Bill Close are LEGENDS of grace under pressure.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the first of the 10 prophets of God, Johnny Cash."
"When I was just a baby, my Mama told me 'Son, always be a good boy, don't ever play with guns.' But I held a man at gunpoint, just to watch him read my manifesto on the news."
I'm surprised that the hostages were so calm. I'd be in hysterics if that were to happen to me. Meanwhile, those two hijackers were extremely troubled individuals living in a time where mental health was still an enigma. As for the second guy, if he was considered insane, why wasn't he sent to a mental health facility instead of jail? Anyway, I hope they both get some help.
I have dealt with mentaly ill people (I am myself, but not in that way, but I have freinds who can.... loose it) and it's not as hard as it seems once you're in a situation. the key is don't contradict. work with them, their reality is reality to them, de-escalate, redirect, understand, but don't tell them they are wrong because in their head they are right! specificaly the guy in the seccond clip probably thaught his only way to save millions of lives was to do what he was doing! the only way I can think to put it is if you somehow knew the day before that the 9/11 attacks were going to happen and nobody would take you seriously wouldn't you do anything, right up to going to the airport with a gun to stop that plane flying to stop it?
Normally I'd piss myself but reading the comments while watching really does comfort me a lot
Im glad Im not the only one
11:56 "our forefathers were murderers, liars, thieves..."
Looks like he had brief seconds of sanity in his writing before going back to the mumbo jumbo
that's basically American history and it's truth

You know what they say about broken clocks being right
David Horowitz (other than being known for being a news anchorman and this incident) hosted a show called Fight Back! which was a consumer show where they tested the claims by various advertisers and it was a precursor to Mythbusters. It's just a shame there aren't many surviving episodes that show on RUclips.
"the 10 profits are Johnny Cash..."
idk why but this got me kinda laughing
I noticed more country artists
Could you do an episode on UK TV hijackings? Two that come to mind straight away are when the Six O'Clock News got invaded in 1988 by people protesting against Section 28 (the clause that banned promotion of homosexuality in schools), and the National Lottery incident of 2006 when Fathers 4 Justice invaded the live draw
I remember that during the national lottery incident Eamonn Holmes showed just what a brave gentleman he was when he ran and hid behind the female presenter that was his co-host! I think her name is Sarah. ❤❤
I remember the Ant invasion! Horrible!! They were all bitey and crawly. So here I am minding my own business and before I knew it, I had an entire colony of ants crawling on me. The embarrassing part about this is that I had to strip off naked while my mom hosed me down. This was outside in the yard mind you.
This man told the cops back off with the guns 😂😂
He was trying to live up to the network's name and play it "kool" 😎
In 2015, at CBS affiliated WBDJ in Roanoke, VA, two journalists were shot by a gunman and killed on live TV
That wasn’t a hijacking that was just a crazy ex new anchor on a gay racist crusade
13:45 Bill Close did a fantastic job throughout and especially at the end clearly indicating to the officers that the man was unarmed, their weapons unnecessary and by implication, likely to inflame a now clamed situation.
i just noticed the first guy didnt even have his finger on the trigger 💀
Wow, just wow. Huge respect to David and Bill.
These just make me sad, i can't imagine what it mustve been like to either go through these mental issues yourself or watch someone you love go through it during the 80s when there was so much less understanding and research on these things. What resources were even available? Theres not many resources today, to think about how much less there were then is sad
Jesus Christ! Never knew about the KOOL-TV situation! I've got grandparents who were living in Phoenix during that time and saw it unfold on TV! Lol!
As a Brazilian, I wish we had invaded the southern states
As a southerner, same
Eh, compensation for Condor would've been neat.
Both very brave men keeping both threaten situations under control
Wow the second one is just crazy, enjoyed the video tho!
Why are you ignoring the one that happened in Lithuania??? That was a wild thing and I'm sure there were other coups that happened live on TV too
So Johnny Cash is Jesus? 🤨
No... he's just a prophet...
4:43 Ah, the irony
10:08 They'll got a network change instead of 5 new cities.
Fax: Islam invented Algebra
Plot Twist: It summarised the vice Versa of real war
thank u adam
these people need help
It was the old days... the best they could get back then was the psych ward
This IS ODD!
Too bad that guy was 49 years too soon for the war! He should come back this year.
As far as I'm aware there's no war in the US rn haha
Ah yes, I loved reading about the Prophet Willie Nelson in the bible.
No one knows this guys name???? I can’t find anything about him anywhere..
If you’re talking about the second guy, his name is Joseph Billie Gwin.
Similarly to what you said though, I can’t seem to find much info on the guy..
I feel like he had a point and predicted some of these facts bug not a lot of them
interesting
Goddamn America 😑
Nbc cbs
Oh wow
WW3 did not happened back then.
"Is it any coincidence that these happened in the US? with very loose laws about carrying firearms?"
I have two issues with this statement
1. In many states today, guns are NOT loosely controlled, it's made into a much more rigorous registration process than it was in the 80's
2. Banning guns wouldn't prevent these instances, any person could just bring a steak knife and hold it up against someone's neck, the weapon is just the vehicle for that threat to be made credible.
Why do you think gun violence has spiked from the 80's into current year? The answer is likely mental health, america has very expensive mental health services, for roughly the same quality of healthcare as other countries that have universal healthcare.
Sounds like protomaga
"Is it any coincidence that both of these cases happened in the US, a place with very lose laws around carrying firearms."
What's the purpose of this line? These both happened in the 1980's, you should know that firearms were largely unrestricted in most countries until the 90's. The Australian Government didn't bring our (draconian) gun laws in until 1996, and the UK didn't bring in theirs until 1997 (though, of course there were small changes in years prior, similar to the United State's restrictions on automatic firearms in 1986). Also, the first (of two, at that) happened with a BB gun, useless for killing humans. You can get BB guns in the UK. I understand the "carry" line, but that's more a matter of building security than gun laws. You could very easily hide a weapon (any weapon that's about the size of a pistol) anywhere on you.
I just watched and u beat me to same comments course a year earlier, ha.
I'm glad there are other people who find that kind of rubbish annoying. @@TheZXKUQYB

A semantic ploy of distraction.
When i heard the 2nd one, knowing he was talking about god... i was expecting a messages of gay genocide
What i got instead was the worlds most horrifying coming out... as well as a warning about islam and its extremists...
This man is a brother... as he said... i hope he got help... i hate to see someone who is religious and homosexual go down this path
