Personal Opinion: Shirley Jones is a marvelous actress, and a magnificent singer. She and Dame Judi Dench are exactly the same age. I think it's a shame and a waste of talent that Shirley couldn't be offered the same type of film work Judi is given, these days. I definitely could see Shirley being M in the later James Bond films. Unfortunately, that's Hollywood.
Of the TV films she made after THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY, I Consider WINNER TAKE ALL to be the best. Shirley's portrayal of a compulsive gambler is a compelling tour de force.
