    My guess was that this being your last video I'd have a better chance at communicating what I want to you.
    I love your channel. Not just the fantastic base idea behind it, but the execution, cinematography and all around production quality. The builds are not sacrificing any design beauty because of them being "DIY", which is probably what I love the most about all of your stuff. A++ from me. Amazing job.

    If you had put a straw through the concrete, then placed the wick through the cavity, you would have gotten refillable/reuesable candles. A fantastic idea nonetheless, especially as they can't get knocked over easily.

    • @VolosVibes
      @VolosVibes 7 лет назад

      Won't te hole for te wick fill up with wax anyway? You'll need to microwave it first or pay as much of an effort into it as creating a complete new one.

    • @DudeThisHappened2Me
      @DudeThisHappened2Me 7 лет назад

      It may lead to the candles burning all the way down the wick and burn the base but that is a clever idea

    • @MeteoricMarlin

      OutOfNamesToChoose Yeah but once it melts enough the wax wil drip all over the place through the hole.

    Great idea Ben! It would be cool if you used a smaller diameter water bottle and put that in the wet concrete. Let it cure, then remove the inner bottle and then pour the wax. This way the candle ends inside the concrete rather than on top and you would have a cool effect when you burn in down that low. Also, the concrete bases would be "refillable". All you'd have to do is a new wick and wax Awesome project though. The simple ones are my favorite too

    • @lumpiak2
      @lumpiak2 7 лет назад +8

      Well, concrete is very cheap so it's not very wasteful if you just throw it away. A ton of people don't actually light their candles, they just use them as decorative items, so this candle is perfect for that :)

    • @MPDesign
      @MPDesign 7 лет назад +3

      Keith West remember in the beginning he had to press the wick into the concrete while it was still wet.... however I guess you could just hot glue the wick to the concrete

      No, don't reuse the concrete. It can cause an explosion capable of destroying a whole neighborhood.

    Hello Ben,
    I did the same, except for the wax, I couldn't find soy flakes, so I used paraffin and stearine and a Pringles box instead of plastic bottles. Problem is the wax did not stick to the concrete... So I have 2 pieces.
    How could I glue them back together please?
    I love your videos and your designs, thank you.❤👏

    Soy wax normally melts to a liquid - did you add something to the wax to stop this? Otherwise it will be all over your table after being lit for a short while.

    • @RupertFilbert
      @RupertFilbert 6 лет назад

      probably just put something under it to catch the wax/liquid, except it will get all over the concrete sides.

    The candles look great! However, may I advise (as a candlemaker) to use pillar molds. Using plastic bottles can be a hazard and a mess as the hot wax will certainly compromise the structure of it. Pillar molds are metal and easy to use. :)

    It looks amazing. My favorite are the minimal ones too.
    Would it be possible to use the same plastic bottle, place the concrete base and pour wax on it again once it's over? Just thinking what would the base be useful for once you burn out the candle.

  • @VolosVibes
    @VolosVibes 7 лет назад +2

    Very cool idea! Really enjoyed this one, but I figure these are purely for decoration.
    How will you b able to change the candle though? You don't have a mold for the top anymore do you?

      Concrete is made out of cement. Concrete is made of primarily three ingredients: cement (usually Portland cement), aggregates (sand and gravel), and water.
