Holly, I was surprised you didn’t cover the back with paper.
That ribbon on the cutting board is so Jolly Festive. My sister had some of the same kind back in the day. I just loved it back then as I do now.
My sister could make or sew anything. She did ceramic and taught a ceramic class in her early forties. She had a kiln at her house and all kinds of molds. She was one of the ones who did the ceramic Christmas trees and started the watermelon pattern collection. Her watermelon ceramic pieces looked so realistic. She went to craft shows all over the state of Mississippi. I went with her when I was not on duty as an RN at the hospital. I tried to help her with all that needed to be done with the ceramics, but the dust and me did not get along. I did love going to the craft shows and helping her there. My neighbor bought the whole eighth piece table set. Salt and pepper shakers, pitcher glasses, napkins rings. She bought everything that was in the whole collection of the watermelon collection. My sister and I lived an hour away from each other. I brought the collection back to my neighbor once my sister had completed it. They met at a craft show and determined that I, she and I were neighbors. My son was taking swimming lessons from her at the time. Ironic.

Great Christmas DIY'S. I love the cutting board, it's my favorite one that I will be doing. The tree is beautiful but too time consuming for me unless I did it over a few days. I love how it came out but my issue with arthritis won't let me do it all in one day. The riser is also beautiful. Why couldn't you leave the beads on the strand of raffia and tie it tight then glue all at once? IDK I never tried it but I wonder. Would be less time. Anyway, thank you Holly for sharing your gorgeous Christmas projects and I always pay attention when you paint. Your things come out looking like real wood. I think you mastered that a long time ago.

I've always loved your videos. I took a long break from RUclips and had to watch you now that I'm watching it here and there again. I also do not like the look of vinyl. I received a Cricut Maker for Christmas a couple of years ago. I had been watching more and more crafters using them in their projects at that time. I was so disappointed the first time I used vinyl. After seeing so many vinyl projects here on RUclips I was shocked. Either the sticker look didn't show up on camera or it was intentionally not shown? I'm not sure which. I still love my Cricut but I never use vinyl unless it's stencil vinyl. I still hand paint everything. In my opinion it just looks better especially if your making something distressed. It bothers me when a sign, for instance, is distressed but the wording is not. I still love to print on tissue paper and use that method often. I have found that applying Mod Podge to my project , letting it dry, laying my tissue paper, parchment paper on top and then heating the surface to reactivate the glue is the best process for me. I have never gotten any wrinkles or bubbles that way and it really looks like the image was printed directly on my surface. I will still use Mod Podge the regular way if I want wrinkles to sand and for a distressed image. I've also found that I can print something in black and white onto the tissue paper and then add color to it once it is in my surface. It turns out beautiful and either looks like a watercolor painting or like the image was hand painted onto my surface. I'm so glad you shared this in your video. It really has been a game changer for me.

Regular tissue paper. Dollar Tree tissue paper works fine. Any.
Your ideas are great and plan on making some, but, I have always had a problem with distressing. If I wanted something old and decrepid, I head for a junk yard and save time and money

What do you use for color when you make your own chalk paint?
You just start with whatever color paint you want to mix it with. However, once you add in the talc or the calcium carbonate, it will lighten the color of the paint a bit.
