      Hi Rob, thank you for your question. Yes AIS target can be displayed on the chart page when connected to an AIS receiver or transponder.

    Awesome system, and very informative presentation.
    Questions: In Auto Route, does it take into consideration the boat’s ability to point upwind, are tacks shown?
    Also with iPad usage it seem one only needs one Vulcan in the nav station, and one could utilize one or more iPads to enable control, viewing and navigation from helm, bunk, saloon, etc. Correct?

    • @Force4Chandleryltd
      @Force4Chandleryltd  4 года назад +5

      Thank you for your question - When you run the chart routing, it takes your route that you have entered and looks at the chart detail based on the boat settings you have entered.
      The routing will just do point to point maths and get a multi-point route. Once you have this route saved, you can then activate this route which will allow the MFD to work out the laylines (provided you have wind data on the system) and give you the sailing time.
      So the easy routing doesn’t do anything with sailing data, but once you have the route, the MFD will do this bit.
      Only one ipad can be connected to the Vulcan at any one time. Leigh J

    Very good tutorial thank you. I see the Vulcan series have built in gps. When connected to the n2k network does it share the gps info with other mfd such as triton 2? Also does the chart plotter use its own 12 volt power source and not utilize the 12 volts on the n2k network?

    • @Force4Chandleryltd
      @Force4Chandleryltd  3 года назад +1

      Hi James, thank you for your questions. Yes the GPS data can be shared on the NMEA 2000 network with the Triton 2 instrument. A N2k network is Charplotters, AIS units and any other equipment that has a current draw of over 1 amp will need to have an independent power supply.

    Great informative video. Can I connect, via an adapter, my existing Raymarine i60 wind pack to the B&G Vulcan?

    • @Force4Chandleryltd
      @Force4Chandleryltd  3 года назад

      Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes you can connect the i60 wind to the Vulcan. The simplest way is via a NMEA 2000 or STNG network. If you already have a STNG network connected to the I60 Wind display then you can connect the Vulcan into the STNG network with a devicenet to stng adapter cable £30. ( assuming that you have a spare STNG connection point in the network - if not then you will need to add an extra t piece + backbone cable)

    Hi, I have multisensor airmar for speed, temperature and depth, can I use this to 12 inch vulcan chartflotter?
    second I have also forward scan navico 9 pin can use this also in 12 inch vulcan chartplotter

    • @Force4Chandleryltd
      @Force4Chandleryltd  3 года назад +2

      Hi Arnold, If the Multisensor from Airmar is a NMEA 2000 type device then it will connect to the Vulcan via a NMEA2000 network. The Navico 9 pin Forward scan transducer will directly plug into the Vulcan 7, 9 or 12 plotters.

    question please? would a Vulcan 7 from 2017 have the same features as this Vulcan? Thanks.

    • @Force4Chandleryltd
      @Force4Chandleryltd  3 года назад

      Thanks for your question. Yes the main features are the same. However, the early Vulcan 7FS models are not compatible with Radar.

    It baffles me how detailed those charts are. Thanks for a great video!
    I have a question regarding the SailSteer page: can you use instruments (such as depth sounder, wind transducer, log) from any make, or do you, for it to function, have to use the Triton system? I have the old Silva NX2 system, is this compatible with the Vulcan range?

    • @Force4Chandleryltd
      @Force4Chandleryltd  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question. You can use data from any other make as long as the device uses the correct "vocabulary" that the Triton 2 can recognise. Fortunately this is fairly standardised with set NMEA 0183 sentences or NMEA 2000 PGNs (Parameter Group Number). Unfortunately Silva had their own protocol that is not compatible but there is a work around. You can use a Garmin GND10 interface box £129.95 (Garmin purchased Silva a few years ago ) which converts the Nexus data to NMEA 2000. You will also need a NMEA 2000 network to connect the GND 10 to the Vulcan.
