I have the 8 plus in gold and I upgraded from a 6s (not plus). In my opinion it was definitely worth it. The battery is a lot better and the pictures come out so much better. It’s almost like a professional camera! Definitely recommend updating if you have a 6s or older but in my opinion it’s not worth it if you have a 7 plus already

Bogdan Android has never been doing this. Only with shitty 3rd party apps, which actually put a transparent orange color on the screen, as opossed to actually changing the white point as in ios. Stupid android fanboy

I like how you're comparing it to the 6s instead of to the 7 as most reviewers do - most people will be upgrading from a 6s and if you have a 7 upgrading to the 8 is pretty much useless anyway.
I precisely come from an iPhone 6S, and the jump to the iPhone 8 Plus is just incredible. I’m quite impressed with the new speakers, and how the screen can represent better colours. It’s a substantial upgrade, and I hope I can quickly start taking advantage of everything it offers.

Tyler, quick tip. There is another reason Apple has removed the HDR original and just uses the HDR version by default. With the new HEIF photo format, the original is now actually stored within the HDR photo itself. If you don't like how the HDR version looks, just edit the photo to remove the HDR effect. This is now true of portraits as well, which similarly removed the original version.
This saves a lot of space and is much less confusing for newbie shooters who never clearly understood why they had multiple versions of the same photos.
+ktbeatty wow, I wish I knew this before recording! I did know it worked that way for portraits, studio and live, but that is especially great for HDR. I wish I could correct that part
Mea Culpa Tyler. Teaches me to rely on 3rd party information. It is everything BUT HDR photos that retain their originals within the HEIF file. I don't know why they can't make this available as well, but I'm sure there are reasons. My apologies for adding confusion!!

I highly doubt Apple will ever adopt USB C on the iPhone. I think by the time lightening becomes obsolete ( in 2-4 years IMO), they'll just move to a totally portless design.

Hi Gabriel Hakulín. Have you try re ording videos on low light? I often go to concerts and I really like to take a great shot of it but I haven't found a cellphone that can help me on this. Right now I used an LG G5 but it ain't that good, it absorbs a lot of light of the stage that you can see the band playing. You just see a lot of light hahah, it sucks :(

Yeah but that 5-7 hours I mentioned are referring to time when I use the phone and when it´s not locked in my pocket. I´m getting 10-12 hours of standby time

believe it or not, im still rocking an iPhone 4s
i got it used at the end of 2015
im from portugal, but live in a somewhat modern village where iPhones are mostly out of anyone's reach because they're too expensive, and the people who have them are usually paying them on a contract
i find it so amazing how the 4s still holds up after almost 7 years
sure its slow sometimes, and some apps are completely unavailable, but it blows my mind how i can still use instagram, twitter, youtube, and even the camera (a friend of mine has the galaxy a3 and when we compared cameras, we were amazed how similar the photos were)
on the other hand, the galaxy grand prime (a similar phone to the 4s, but with far higher geek bench scores) i had before i got the iPhone is completely unusable... recently i had to change back to it because the iphone was being repaired and it was so goddamn frustrating... apps kept crashing, it refused to send an email, it froze on stock applications (i remember sometimes getting message boxes telling me the home screen crashed)... although the screen size was very nice, the rest of the phone did not age as well as the iPhone, even thought its practically a better phone
its crazy to think how i could theoretically use the 4s at least 2 more years or until every app completely stoped supporting iOS 9, and how quickly an android phone became obsolete
this is what makes me never change back to android
this year im buying the iPhone 8, and i can rest easy that i won't be disappointed for a very long time
even though it made phones much more accessible to people, android is indeed the worst broken and unstable shit somebody could invent, even considering iOS' flaws 😂😂

Such a good review. I agree 99%. Personally don’t mind the lack of a headphone jack (I am an iPhone 7 Plus owner), but I also don’t understand why Lightning still exists.
Actually, USB-C would have made me upgrade. I guess I will try to get at least one more year out of my 7 Plus.

It's right in the name. USB = "Universal Serial Bus". Universal is the important part. I do not get why I should have one cable for my iPhone, iPad, computer accessories (Magic Mouse, Keyboard, AirPods) and a different one with superior functionality for the computer itself.
Darcer's Tech That may be true in the name, but it sure isn't right now. At my school, there are almost no devices that have USB-C rather than Lightning or micro-USB. The few phones I've seen are the OnePlus 5 and S8+; the rest are iPhones and other Androids. It would be nice to see the tech industry evolve into a 1-port system.
All the new high-end phones (other than the iPhones) now have USB-C. Most high-end laptops now have USB-C. I personally am very close to ditching micro-USB on all my devices. My Bluetooth Speaker, Power bank, external HDD, thumb drive are all USB-C. The next step is headphones, keyboard, and mouse, and I am done.
If Apple doesn't adopt the standard on their phones by then, I will most likely switch to Android.

Good Day! I've been using this S8+ for almost a month now. The problem is, Im not convinced that S8+ is better than iPhone 7+ yet in this video it was said that the camera of iP8+ and S8+ are almost the same. Just wanna make sure and keeping it real from a real Photographer. Thankyou! Btw this video tells a lot about Mobile photography.

Coming from someone who both loves photography and watches way too many tech channels/blogs, this is the first video that has actually made me want to upgrade this year and made me reconsider the X altogether and belayed my itch to jump ship to Android (google Pixel XL) for at least another year or two.
I put off moving away from my iPhone every year as I always get reminded why I want to stay, but this year, I was struggling, but suddenly this video made me think, actually the 8 Plus looks like a damn good phone.

I got my refurbished iPhone 5S in February of 2016 and it's been caseless ever since.
Great review, however the comment regarding the cables depends purely on the user!
When I get my phones I always keep the accessories brand new sealed and in the box, to help resale (I know... Total nerd thing to do)... I bought a single 2-Meter charge cable when the iPhone 5 first introduced the lightning connector - I have used it every other day to charge my phones ever since, going away with me on holiday, and work field trips and it's still like new!
The downside is, being white it needs a wipe over every now and again as it goes grey/dirty over time.
My advice: Don't pull on the cable to disconnect. Grip the plastic part of the connector itself!!

im not trying to be a fanboy... iPhones are usually not the first but they are usually the trend setter...his main point is for all of us to actually adopt wireless charging... actually have more wireless charging docks or even midrange smartphone would have wireless charging

Syuna face Id is a gimmick, the iPhone is faster on paper, but gets it's ass handed to it in real world speed tests against the OnePlus 5 the Note 8 and the HTC U11 and you can probably add the Razer phone to that list soon as well. Apple makes faster processors but Android manufacturers pump up the ram to compensate, so in reality apple can have an I7 processor in their iPhones and still get a hurting put on them by an Android device with an I3

I’m not a photographer but I’m a graphic designer and the 8 plus allows me to take quick photos for designs, view graphics and websites in mobile mode. Very helpful! Also I wish I could post it here but I took the best selfie of myself that I’ve ever taken on a phone using portrait mode LOL.

Just got a IPhone 8 today for a early Christmas gift. Switching from a Note 4 and I use to love camera and video on it. I have to checkout and learn to use camera and video on 8 plus.

Finally a real photographer reviewing a phone or two from a creative side. Not just specs, and hardware. Love it! Keep it up. Maybe take us through the whole process! Like, how you chose your location and time. How you compose and shoot. And finally, how you tweak and edit! Obviously with the phones. I know you're a photog, so using DSLRs is a whole different game! Anyway, keep the good content coming! Cheers.

I really like my iPhone 8 Plus. It's the perfect upgrade (from an iPhone 6 Plus) for me. Lots of improvements, yet it didn't abandon all of its iPhone lineage, though I wish it would have kept the mic/headphone jack. But then again, I'm near on 70, a little bit old school. My favorite go to apps for photo/video with this phone are... Snapseed, Darkroom, Camera+2, Filmic Pro, Quik, Splice, and Afterlight.
First review that motivated me to buy an 8 plus instead of 7 plus.. The thing in the end with the motion blur of live photos was insane..

Great review! Night shift isn't intended for natural white balance, but being easy on the eyes when you stare at your phone before going to bed. Don't do anything color sensitive on your phone with it on.

I bought the iPhone 8 since my iPhone 6 was starting to have port issues and the 16gb of storage was driving me nuts. Got 64 which is plenty for now and I just love wireless charging. Almost got the 7 for $150 cheaper and so glad I got this one.
I don't understand why people complain about the iPhone cables. I still have my original cable from my 5s back in 2013 and it still looks like new. I do take EXTREMELY good care of my electronics, but I still don't understand why people have issues with them. Every cable I have gotten from my new phones still look new even after years of use.

Good review. Avoid jumping audio from in-home to outdoor and on-location -- it's jarring and volume isn't consistent. For your cables, I've never experienced fraying or breaking, and I travel with my cables and use heavily. Maybe use electrical tape, sugru, a pen spring, or with your iPhone 8 Plus and beyond, a wireless charger.

As a creative content creator this made me make the jump to this phone after issues with the Galaxy line recently. Great review. Not once did you make assumptions and opinions based on just looks or the X but by the quality of the phone.

your photographs are amazing. iam a freshman and i still dont have a phone and my dad is planning to buy me an iPhone 8 plus, its a happy news because last time we traveled i couldn't take a single photo without asking dad or mom to take a pic which of course it annoys them. the next time we travel i will take pictures as much as i want
