Very interesting from my perspective to see so many kind comments about the video, yet see far more thumbs down than I am used to... perhaps because there was too much camping and not enough photography?
I can't speak for the thumbs down, but this video was cinematic quality work Nick! Those 12 minutes went by in a snap. Showed a lot of forethought with all the different angles and B roll type shots you put together especially for the camp scene. Well done!
The filmmaking in this really is top notch. The audio and cinematography are practically documentary film worthy... But to be fair, it was just a bit like tuning in to an episode of (insert your favorite show here) and getting an episode of This Old House instead. Nothing wrong with This Old House (just as there is nothing wrong with this episode), but it may catch some by surprise, and as a result they react with a thumbs down. Just a guess.
I didn't give it a thumbs down, but I am not a fan of the non talking videos. The video was great and I didn't stop watching because it didn't have any talking, but a little bit of voice over would be great. All that being said, you do this type of video better than anyone else that I have seen...

That really means a lot thank you. It was a tremendous amount of work to pour into a 12 minute video certainly, but it’s amazing the amount of satisfaction and enjoyment I get from the process. I don’t always enjoy listening to myself ramble about things I have said before and I find myself editing out most of my dialogue these days just out of my own bias for wanting to create something different and new. Thank you so much for being supportive!
An absolutely terrific video! As a camper and photographer, I relish peace and quiet when out in nature. Sometimes silence says more than words. Do more like this !
This is what I’m talking about. A man in his element enjoying solitude and nature. A great time to reflect and relax. Great setup. And beautiful photos to go along with it all. Thanks for sharing.
Loved it Nick. The connection of landscape photography and camping-enjoying the wilderness it´s strong, without it this kind of work isn´t fulfilled. Great that you showed this B -SIDE of landscape photography.
100% agree with previous..... perfection of photography - perfection of light - perfection of the outdoor experience - perfection of knowing no words required. Superb, Nick, and thanks for giving us the chance to come along in spirit!
Nick...some of your RUclips vids, like this one, is like a Pink Floyd song to me. So beautiful, creative, and many nuances happening that most people don't realize the effort and time it takes to create something like this. There's a perfect blend of b-roll changes and story being told to keep me captivated the entire time. Awesome work!
I love your setup Nick. You have great camping gear. I had a 24 feet fifth-wheel, a 32 feet motorhome, a mini-tent trailer that I had behind my Miata MX5 Mazdaspeed, and finally an 18 feet trailer. Yours is a masterpiece of practicality and organization. Being a Chevrolet guy, I like yours.👌👌👌
Wow, man!!! First, thank you for taking us with you on this fantastic trip. Second, I appreciate the time you took to set up the camera from different angles. Finally, I love your editing with amazing music and the drone shots. So, good job and thanks for sharing!
I loved this video, I like that you can tell a story without having to say anything. I also like that it's about more than just the photography, thanks for all the entertainment!
Thanks Nick. I really appreciate all the work that must have gone into making that. You know how to eat right when you’re camping! Kind of sad to see that beat up forest, like so many others in the West. I’m glad you were able to get out.
My tuppence worth: Nick, I love these occasional non-narrated videos; just someone out in the open air, with a camera, in nature. Morten Hilmer sometimes does the same and I think they really do just let you slip into the landscape with the host. Brilliant.
Love those videos. Tells a beautiful story of your photography journeys, with the truck, camp set up, the gorgeous steak yum yum and the morning coffee. Life is good and the photography even better. 👌🏻
Two observations from watching this video: 1. Great respect for Nick’s woodland images. There’s a lot more to it than most people would think. 2. I have NO interest in solo camping! That’s a lot of work to sleep in the cold - with no toilet!! Another great video!
Wow. Simple as that. Wow. Thank you so much for taking the time to think, plan, do and then put this together to share. Can't even imagine the time this took. It's beautiful! And when you get to taking photos allowing those photos and the music to talk to us. To just see. Wow again.
These remind me of Japanese wood block carvings...beautiful. I also completely agree with your order of camping operations: 1) cover 2) chair 3) beer Love it!
This video is great Nick. It brings to mind Ansel Adams standing on top of his Travelall out in the wilderness behind his 8x10 - but on a more up to date setting! A master in his element. A true representation of what the solitude of landscape photography holds at its core.
Mr. Page I have watched many of your videos and you have already been an inspiration to me but this video takes it to the next level. You combined both of my passions in this video and this video embodies my life goals. Thank you for this and look forward to many more camping and photography videos. 👍🙏✌️

All the years of dedication and sacrifice have been justly rewarded. Congratulations and thank you for sharing your vision with us.
The sound and smell of the trees, brisk air on my face, a fire grilled ribeye and a beer (wine if my wife is with me). Doesn't get much better than that. Be well, Nick.
