    Very interesting from my perspective to see so many kind comments about the video, yet see far more thumbs down than I am used to... perhaps because there was too much camping and not enough photography?

    • @Robofish12
      @Robofish12 3 года назад +31

      I can't speak for the thumbs down, but this video was cinematic quality work Nick! Those 12 minutes went by in a snap. Showed a lot of forethought with all the different angles and B roll type shots you put together especially for the camp scene. Well done!

    • @johnprisk
      @johnprisk 3 года назад +4

      The filmmaking in this really is top notch. The audio and cinematography are practically documentary film worthy...
      But to be fair, it was just a bit like tuning in to an episode of (insert your favorite show here) and getting an episode of This Old House instead. Nothing wrong with This Old House (just as there is nothing wrong with this episode), but it may catch some by surprise, and as a result they react with a thumbs down.
      Just a guess.

    • @jeffpotter7958
      @jeffpotter7958 3 года назад +24

      The "thumbs down" are probably for people who don't understand what it truly takes to capture a compelling landscape photography.

    • @inthewoodswithbigfoot3941
      @inthewoodswithbigfoot3941 3 года назад +5

      I didn't give it a thumbs down, but I am not a fan of the non talking videos. The video was great and I didn't stop watching because it didn't have any talking, but a little bit of voice over would be great. All that being said, you do this type of video better than anyone else that I have seen...

    • @johnprisk
      @johnprisk 3 года назад +5

      @@jeffpotter7958 - They may not understand, but I'm more inclined to think it's the gut reaction of people who were surprised by something other than what they were expecting , and knee-jerked into expressing that surprise with a thumbs down as opposed to appreciating the content they got for what it is intended to be.
      Sadly some people are like that. They will instantly go to "I hate it" instead of taking a little time to think about whether they dislike it because it's actually bad, or they only think they dislike it because it was simply different.

    Im with you brother!!! “Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life.”

    Definitely starting the year as you left the last one - with top drawer content. Things that I take from this:
    1. Chevy - I love a Chevy from the Sonic to Corvette. Wonderful vehicles.
    2. Being able to drive off into what is literally your back garden and set up overnight camp, cook a steak - fantastic life.I would do that for a weekend once a month and its great to watch the camp set up and the moments involved.
    3. The man has an axe and can go cook a well done steak on a camp fire. Bonus.
    4. The talent involved, the time taken to film, edit, process, the drone footage, the still imagery, sharing a natural environment and music accompaniment with potentially the rest of the world, for free, is clearly not enough for 43 people. Beggars belief. Better to say nothing than to be publicly ungrateful and diss the effort and hard work.
    5. This channel proved to be, for me, the best quality and most informative of all the photography related ones i have binge watched from oldest to newest during "lockdown" and I have gained an incredible amount of inspiration, ideas, knowledge and renewed enthusiasm for my own photography as a result. So, a big and sincere thank you from me.

      That really means a lot thank you. It was a tremendous amount of work to pour into a 12 minute video certainly, but it’s amazing the amount of satisfaction and enjoyment I get from the process. I don’t always enjoy listening to myself ramble about things I have said before and I find myself editing out most of my dialogue these days just out of my own bias for wanting to create something different and new. Thank you so much for being supportive!

So beautiful, creative, and many nuances happening that most people don't realize the effort and time it takes to create something like this. 1. Great respect for Nick’s woodland images. There’s a lot more to it than most people would think.
