Thank you for demonstrating the theory in a very clear and accurate way. Hopefully this is not going to sound too harsh, but if one of your purposes is to give new composers ideas, you should demonstrate how to break these patterns. The examples you play here are ultra conservative, even with the nice embellishments of M7, 6-9, 13, etc. I would give examples like playing Major chords where they are not expected, for instance, if you're playing on C major scale, play E major, play D major chords, use F and so force - it makes music so much more interesting and it forces you to get out of the key, hence the melody will be much more challenging.
I loved your advice, to devise our own theoretical route ! Is there a 'standard' way of finding out quickly the KEY of a given song ? One that gets me the result quickly ? Cos I think I have my own now.I'm surprised how 'woolly' that area is. Thanks
A certain degree of tension watching this video in case you should happen to mention The Final Countdown.... Made it, no mention, much gratitude. Autumn Leaves!
Thank you for all of the great content!
Chris, your pedagogy is from another world. Thanks for another great lesson!
I think I get it now. Thanks!
Awesome as always. Thanks Chris. (Will be seeing the other cycles in future vids?)

I"m picking up what you're putting down now! 5ths are 4ths. Its just the opposite direction on the highway. same basic relationship!

yeah, hilarious. Autumn Leaves, however, will make an appearance in my songbook examples on Saturday... oh well.
But wouldnt the fifth from E be B? Of course, that gives us B Locrian, and nobody likes inviting Locrian to the party.
@@harryleblanc4939 yes but. We want to stay in key…or do we?
