"I always wanted to open a bed and breakfast." Maybe he was making light of the situation, but if that was even remotely true, it makes the situation worse, that not only was this family torn apart but the potential in the future was taken from them too.
And Marguerite’s little “Well, got your big break, didn’t ya?” That gentle little tease/play into the joke really shows their loving dynamic before, it’s heartbreaking.
i've been having a really rough time with depression and ever since i found you (you're actually how i got into voices of the void :D) youve been a really big help in my day-to-day, sitting down for a long watch or listening when i do chores or draw. thank you for everything you do, librarian
What you really got to appreciate about some of the Resident Evil games is their world-building, particularly the ability to portray people just trying to survive in their games. You've got Kendo and other characters. But Clancy is one of my favorites. It honestly sucks that he went through all of this just to die. You can see his hands in the "Happy Birthday" VHS- all fingers intact and his hand burn-mark free. One can argue Clancy's fighting off Jack and his waves of Molded was a fluke. You can claim that he only escaped Marguerite by the skin of his teeth. But canonically, that guy is one hell of a blackjack player.
The mold infection didn't fully infect the baker family so Margeritte going to the doctor's isn't a plot hole, she just lapsed back and went to the doctors, did her test and never came back because Evie took over
I mean she is a 'bio-weapon' that is actually a little girl straight up given birth by a real women much like Alma Wade she's a broken child. Now Mia on the other hand is almost an RE Bio-terrorist, honestly Chris should have arrested her at the end of RE 7.
@markfergerson2145 it wasn't umbrella, it's a new organization which we barely know about and they're involved in both RE7 and RE8. It's a criminal organization that creates and sells bioweapons in secret
18:13 lol you either must've been real scared to get caught or you were supposed to cut that and make it look continuous, either way the sheer panicked speed followed by saying the exact same thing was very funny
Oh, that intro hurts. They're such good people. At the beginning of the game, they're a parody of a parody, the southern hillbillies with a suspiciously close family. And then we meet them in that vision, and we see their kindness, with Jack, even despite all that she's put him and his family through, wishing for Eveline to find peace. And now we're introduced to them as such good, selfless people, housing people in the middle of a hurricane, letting absolute strangers into their home, remaining kind to each other even despite the stressful situation... and we know already what will become of them, and that the best ending for them is one where they all have the peace of death.
I have just so much to talk about those two minigames that I wont say anything, this game is a masterpiece, first time I saw a gameplay of 21 with Hoffman begging Clancy to let him win, I just closed the video lol, felt bad for both of them, and the Sisters vhs, its just so sad to see the "monsters" we were afraid of were good people, Jack going out on the storm to save people, then trying to save his daughter at all costs, but what gets me is the way they kept fighting back, like Marguerite giving the keys to Zoe, cant imagine how confused she and Lucas were at this point
Yeah it's horrifying. Plus in the survival mode of 21 it's a lot harder and there's actually a sentient molded you have to fight which is creepy and to see that there's a dude who's half molded and is able to think on it's own and play 21 himself is kinda scary
It breaks my heart seeing the Baker family' story. Besides Lucas, they were all sweethearts. Jack was just a giant teddy bear before the mutation. They really did an amazing job with this family's story.
The 21 dlc absolutely horrified me in the first few seconds I saw it on screen when I first saw it forever ago. Because I saw the blades on the hand mechanism and instantly figured out it’s purpose, however I saw the blades in their folded down position n thought they would stay like that. Back then and even now just god damn I was not prepared for the image in my mind of “the human finger log splitter”
Prior to Evie infecting them, the Baker family (with the exception of Lucas) were a loving and hardworking family that owned the Baker Ranch and raised and sold horses. Jack was a Marine Corp veteran and college football star and Marguerite Baker was a loving mom and grew herbs, flowers and vegetables in her greenhouse that she sold locally. Zoe was about to go to college before Evie arrived, and the only Baker family member who was bad was Lucas. He had murdered one of his classmates and tortured animals but his psychosis also prevented him from being fully controlled by Evie. Like Ethan, Zoe was a truly sweet girl and her good nature was so strong she was able to resist Evies influence and mind control the same way Ethan and Joe Baker could. What happened to them was truly a tragedy.
I know it seems like it doesn't make sense for Zoe to do all that, but you have keep in mind that she ALREADY knows all of this stuff, the gameplay is just so the player discovers what Zoe already knows so canonically probably didn't happen. The note in Lucas' attic proves she already knows his password so she had no need to go into the crawlspace, to get a lockpick, to get the button, to learn about his passcode and the red box. She just went straight to the red box while on the veranda. And the ending at the dinner table shows Eveline's control wasn't total at first. The Bakers spent awhile vacillating between normal and insane before she fully took them over and even then she could only fully control Jack and Marguerite full time, Mia part time, and Lucas and Zoe kept their own minds most of the time. So Marguerite probably did go to the doctor before the control was complete.
18:11 me in hyper demon pressing the quick restart button as soon as i realize that im about to dash into that 1 skutter that didn't die from the ricochet
Of course, she really is just acting like a child. Children need to be taught what empathy and compassion is, and they need to learn by example. She never really had that. She doesn't understand what she's doing, not the way we would as older folks. It's not because she's evil. It's because she doesn't know better. She's throwing a tantrum like any child would, but she's more dangerous than a normal child. She wanted a family, so she made one the only way she knew how. By doing what she'd been taught.
Watching 21 is brutal when you realise Clancy survived, only to burn to death during the "birthday" video tape in the main game. Lukas truly was a basterd haha.
When I saw those contraptions around their hands at the beginning of 21 I already knew that's not something I'll wanna do to myself by watching that. So instead of a finished video I offer you a comment for the algorithm. A fair deal, I'd say.
I watched the game on release and to be 100% honest although I appreciate it as a good horror game but thats what it is to me just a horror game, (upset fans now gonna give me grief, lol.) I'm old school and I prefer all the other Resident Evil games over this one because of the RE buzz, the virus, the evil self centred company , the mass of zombies, other deformed creatures and all that comes with them, the atmosphere of the games grabs me much more in those other games, I have never seen this stuff and I'm excited to watch it by the way I would say 99% of watchers love gamers exploring so always explore away in whatever you play. 21 gets so intense, especially when you play against a corpse. I'd spend so long playing that game mode
Especially on survival since you can literally go against an opponent who's half molded
