Finally got over to H-Town last week. Mainly stayed around Sugar Land, but I did drive to all of the major suburbs outside of the 610 loop. I must say, it looks a lot like South Louisiana except much less densely populated than Louisiana.
Not certain but I believe that in places like Virginia, NC, it goes back to the US Revolutionary War and the participation of General Marquis De Lafayette. As for Fayetteville Tx, it was named after the North Carolina city.

Love Fayetteville, about an hour and a half drive from home.
Man I drive by there on 71 allllll the time but this was my first time visiting. It’s a really awesome place!
