- The Surf Perch fishing conditions were pretty good in the Bay Area this weekend and I happened to find this “Perchy” looking honey hole.
Used sand crabs on a Carolina Rig with 1.5 oz weight and size 4 circle hook
Man, that got to be a lot of twists! 😮
Reeling in while the fish is pulling drag will cause line twist. Never reel in, against the drag on a spinning reel! It's a good way to ruin you're fishing line!
Thank you Jim!
What bait worked??
deng..lolol...I was at ST Francis beach HMB yesterday, low tide, and conditions were NOT to good...where did u go.
I was in the Santa Cruz area yesterday. Overall conditions weren’t great overall but after walking a while I found a real nice calm area with minimal wind and a nice downward slope in the beach
wewalked about 2 miles SOUTH of Francis Beach..beautiful day but ocean conditions were not good.. 550kJ..and big crashing waves...@@JoeG480
I was at Francis yesterday. Very rough with frequent waves. 2 weeks ago it was good. Nothing yesterday! Is that your go to spot,
personally I prefer Pescadero State Beach ..matter of fact I will most likely go there tomorrow..looking at conditions should be ok@@ronmodafferi8202
Hi Ron Santa Cruz County in general is my go to spot. There are several good beaches and that’s what I’m familiar with. I also want to try Pacifica, Monterey and half moon bay.
Sand crabs, I always use nothing but sand crabs
Are they always available? Surf digging or wading out to get them?
Sand crabs are typically available if you can find really sandy portions of the beach. I use either a little net or that metal rake looking device and always end up finding them in the end.
There are some great videos on RUclips on how to locate and catch sand crabs. That’s how I learned to find them.
Are you in SoCal? In NorCal at times I see their V dimples but lately I see no indication of them after waves roll out@@JoeG480
Thanks!!
whats your rod and reel setup?
Hi Alex, I use a 10 foot Fenwick Elite rod with a Shimano Saragosa 5000 reel. I use sand crabs 100% with a Carolina rig with 1.5 oz sliding weight and size 4 finesse circle hooks.
You need a new phone or better sense of your filming dude. I can go to the beach and watch waves😂
