I'm SO GLAD you love this series as much as I do!! We'll keep screaming about it from the booktube rooftops!

Yeah, this one is definitely in my top 2 favorite series of all time. Normally, I don't mind that I can't write...but gosh I wish I could write something like this that just checks all the boxes and hits this hard!

OMG! Lezlie, did you let out a "Hell YEAH" when Donut gave Bea the business after Oddette's show? And I have to admit, I cried when Donut sang that song at the Butcher's Masquerade. And Miriam Dom and Pony. Wow! I"m currently on book 6 in my third or forth reread of the series.

That was my most replayed part of the audiobook *SPOILERS!*
Donut kept her calm while taping...as soon as they weren't broadcast live "YOU FUCKING BITCH!" I had been anticipating a completely different outcome when these two eventually came face to face with Bea, but this was something I never knew I wanted until it happened. It was perfection!

Did “All Eyes On Me” make you cry? I turned down my phone during it and had a moment. Also, Donut’s use of that Hole spell on the dog was inspired. Is the AI still number one?

So I'm halfway through book 7 and the AI....might not be #1 anymore. I have this horrible feeling that some really bad stuff is going to happen and we'll just have to see once it all shakes out at the end

"New Achievement! You have received the Matricide achievement. You are among the first 100 readers to laugh when told 'I will kill your Mother'"
"Reward?! Psamathe never touched your Mother.
    **Spoilers**
Prepotente's grief was visceral. 😭 That scene took this series from a constantly re-read 'light-hearted' to a constantly re-read 'beloved and meaningful' one. Matt Dinniman found the goldilocks zone in terms of tone when he created this world and working with Jeff Hays & Soundbooth Theater is a match made in aural heaven.

That was the first time the series made me cry - not so much Miriam's death, but the description of Pony's reaction. Like you said, visceral, I feel a physical pain when reading it. What an impact as well - expertly timed in this series so that if we readers had missed the bigger picture or had been caught up like the intergalatic viewers and saw this as a game, this scene was a stark reminder that these are *people* who are trying to survive and regain their right to live. Ugh.
Book 7 got me in the feels last night too. I'm about 65% of the way through and just scared stiff of what may be about to happen in the last section.

@@TheNerdyNarrative Exactly everything you described - the reminder of the scale and importance of events beyond Carl and Donut surviving to continue THEIR fight. I'm so incredibly invested in Carl's refusal to being manipulated, and there are a couple of moments in #7 that show *so is the AI*.
We'll have to help each other through the nightmarish wait for book #8, because I'm already suffering with not knowing what happens next.
