The black ice mod is particularly cool! It results In a very versatile guitar. Similar things could be done to a fat Strat style guitar. Something Weezer like...
As soon as you mentioned the black ice mod I thought of weezer. Then you start playing Say it Aint So and I'm like DUDE! Great job on the guitar and great video sir.
Heck yeah! Peter from Anamanaguchi told me about Black Ice being a Weezer thing. I am a HUGE Weezer fan but had no idea - I was actually just looking for a non-battery required way to take inspiration from my favorite Fender Master Builder Levi Perry.
Very nice take on an offset, if I saw that guitar out of context I'd be asking myself when Fender made it and where I could get one. The hums were a surprising choice, as was the hardtail, but I realize the trem is hardly the biggest selling point to most people. Anyway, my intrigue is piqued; subbed and eagerly awaiting more! 😁
Thank you so much! The hard tail and humbuckers are really more of my defaults from playing in bands and not being able to deal with keeping a tremolo in tune and preferring humbuckers for distortion. Saying that - next video will have a Bigsby 😂
Your parallel switching tones can really improve if you adjust the screw poles by ear. Low set pickups with raised screw poles. Alter screw poles like a mini EQ pedal. Same way that Strat Quack is maximized by having one pickup low and the other set higher; common for players to lower the middle pickup because it's in the way of picking. Or tipping single coil pickups in opposite directions, one has treble high/bass side low while the other reverses with low treble and high bass side. WRHBs have the advantage of naturally doing that with screw poles at both ends of different bobbins, if they are raised.
I love the way it sounds! It’s pretty subtle to my ears. Reminds me of when I first got a tube screamer and I couldn’t even hear what it was doing at lower settings because I was used to Crate amp distortion 😂 It does lower the overall output to get the clipping, but if you want your clean to not be TOO clean I highly recommend it
I’d love to make one! I’ve done a reverse before, and you basically just turn the template over 😄 All my builds so far are specs, but I’m looking at opening commissions soon and that would be a great way to get into the lefty biz.
@@RoryATX Us lefties get left in the dust usually, awesome that you want to make em! Kurt is one of my heroes, and I agree, the official JagStang doesn't do it for me. Yours looks like the proper interpretation of his ideas. Although Kurt definitely liked to fkk with people, so who knows 🤣

That thing is AWESOME! Color me jealous lol
the passive distortion and palm muting sounds reminds me of the opening to Just What I Needed by The Cars
Totally what I had in mind! Great callout 😄
Man the look is just amazing

Love it! I concur with this design being correct
I love it
Very cool cheers
That pickguard is awesome. Custom job?
Yep! I fashioned it from a blank with a template
I want a lefty version of
that's super nice dude, can you talk about your xp w/ the passive distortion? I'm considering it on a JM that ended up w/ the noiseless off an AmUltra

Do any of these custom JagStang guitar makers do lefties?

Whats the scale length.
It’s short scale (24 inch) like a standard Jaguar and/or Mustang
Looks like a bad Jaguar rendition 🤢
