Hey, family. Thank you so much for the warm-felt comments on this video. I noticed that I made a typo at the 1:51 mark. *5241* was the bus that made its final run on the southbound M55 bus route and will retire. Apologies for the mixup.
Being 23 years old and living in los angeles i was never able to go to new york to ride these beasts one last time. I hadnt rode these since i was a kid and miss them dearly. I feel mixed emotions from sadness to anger since now these rts's will be part of my memory forever. R.I.P i will never forget you.
Me too im going to miss those RTS buses i used to seeing it in the Flatbush bus depot and East New York bus depot now it not going to be around any more it makes me want to cry
I like the fast takeoff from 5249, the last RTS made for MTA and fittingly the last to retire and the last to depart from South Ferry, as it is being delivered to the New York Transit Museum. I rode the RTS for Long Beach Transit (The first RTS operator), OCTA, NYCT (MTA), and Disney Transport. The MTA was the only agency I rode a Series 50-powered RTS
These RTS buses could carry more passengers than those low floors anyday. True NYC buses that took a beating everyday and never seen a broken down in my 32 years of living in NYC mostly in The Bronx. Going to miss these legends.
Yes, it was a pleasure seeing you again. Even though with me talking, running around with a camera, and chasing after these buses, these behemoths will be dearly missed.
Every time I was waiting for the bus I was like, “I hope it’s a RTS” Now I say when an old Xcelsor bus comes, “well it wouldn’t of been a RTS anyway”. I miss these!
Fantastic footage!!! I will never forget these great buses. 5241 made the very last run which is quite historic. I wish they would save it for that exact reason.
This is really a good bye present because, I just transferred out of Micheal J.Quill. #5249 is really the #1 RTS for history. This is also going to become my first time seeing a NYCT RTS with black trimming and black black. I have seen none with those since I came to USA in 2007. Thanks for giving credit to my depot everyone !!!
You're welcome, my friend. It was written in stone that the Michael J. Quill bus depot will be the last depot in the city to run the Rapid Transit Series.
@@TransportationHub I was stuck between FB and MJQ with RTS', which is the last to run ? Now since I transferred to ENY last weekend, still if the RTS' were here today in service they're still not as best as Quill's RTS'. #4970 was my main RTS fav from ENY Depot while I was still at Quill.
The XE40 bus was pleading for the rts bus not to retire, but the stupid humans wasn't listening to the xe40 bus. Xe40 was there only for support for the rts bus, they're friends.
So, that's it. After 38 years, the Rapid Transit Series model of buses are retired from service in the bus fleet of MTA Regional Bus Operations. Rest In Peace RTS 1981-2019
@@trainluvr The D60HF is the city's first-ever Articulated bus that was manufactured by New Flyer between 1996 to 2004. It retired from service last month.

I'm going to miss these buses, too. I spent a good portion of my life riding them, especially when I visited my cousin.
NYC really doesn't feel the same without them anymore. It's like London without the Routemaster.
I know. This is a post RTS world we're living in now.
Thank you for preserving the memories with this amazing video
You're welcome.
I'm gonna miss those buses. Used to ride the B6 Bus like that. Last ride was back in 2016.
Me too im going to miss those RTS buses i used to seeing it in the Flatbush bus depot and East New York bus depot now it not going to be around any more it makes me want to cry
SonicWilliam25 mines too in September or December 2016 was the last time I never saw it again I never knew it was Nova bus now I know
So long to the greatest era in the world the 80s 90s and early 2000s

I drove these Buses for the MTA from 1982 till 2008. They were the Best. A lot of good memories Rocking them around Manhattan.
These buses were the best indeed. Glad this video help give you memories.

Nova Bus made the best RTS buses in my opinion. Riding them on the B52 as a child was always amazing. As a side note, I now follow you on Twitter.
Those words could've never been more true. GMC and TMC also made the best RTSs in their own right as well. I will check my Twitter for you later on.
My last ride was around March... Gonna miss these old hunks.
I'm gonna miss these buses in Southeast Queens.
Awesome work. I will miss these buses for sure. The streets of New York City will never be the same. I loled when I saw myself in your video.
Yes, it was a pleasure seeing you again. Even though with me talking, running around with a camera, and chasing after these buses, these behemoths will be dearly missed.
It’s sad but all good things must come to an end at some point in time.
I already missed these while operating on New Jersey Transit. I'm gonna miss them on mta.
The RTS platform will be missed by transit fan and systems worldwide.
Awesome Video

I feel ya. Same here.

Thank you. 5249 has now been preserved as a museum bus for the NY Transit Museum.
@@TransportationHub so that means I can go see it with my mom
@@aaronsamuel2823 Yeah. They're only available during BusFest. Otherwise, its housed at the Amsterdam Depot.
@@TransportationHub Where's the bus fest going to take place and how much does it cost?
@@aaronsamuel2823 It normally takes place at Brooklyn Bridge Park (underneath the bridge) and it's free.

I wish i was there. I had school. This is everyones childhood bus even me! Also im pissed they ran an XE40 behind it
The reason that XE40 was there was to showcase the zero gas emissions fleet. On other hand, the RTS farewell retirement ceremony went well.
The XE40 bus was pleading for the rts bus not to retire, but the stupid humans wasn't listening to the xe40 bus. Xe40 was there only for support for the rts bus, they're friends.
Those buses were the 🐐 trust me... But we all will miss them
Got that right😎.
Those RTS buses were part of my childhood and adulthood years and I’ll forever miss it.
Great Nice Work
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

That's that. The RTS era is over.
It’s so sad that those RTS buses are really not coming back and they’re gone for good.
They look soo cool and imposing like they dominate the streets a symbol of american and californian engineering
Man these buses were great and DJ Hammers filmed this but rip the RTS
I know that because I saw him there. But on the other note, these buses will always be the powerhouse of NYCT's bus system.
These NYC rts buses were used for the Olympics in Atlanta Georgia
I know. It was also the year that our prestigious baseball team, the New York Yankees won the World Series.
8971 was one of the 1996 RTSs used for the Summer Olympics and it's being preserved in the museum fleet as well
@@kalelc1996 Oh, cool☺👍👍

Is 5241 gonna be scrapped ?!
Yes, it will.
@@TransportationHub wow mta scrapping the best bus in the world that is very cruel
Newer buses more fuel efficient, quiter, easier for some to board.
Could of lasted till 2026 or 2027
It’s a damn shame these got a ceremony and the D60s didn’t
Geoff McFarland • These buses had way more history here in NYC. 38 years
rgales81 true true but the D60s were the first successful artics and really started their own era of artics in nyc
@@tin3216 True. I will miss those as well along with the RTSs.
What is a D60? I stopped paying attention after the RTS and Nova LF came out.
