For me the best option is the Original Console + Flash card + CRT TV or
    a PC + Emulator + CRT TV

Nice video ! The answer is find a balance between them all......... FPGA based systems!! FPGA consoles with modern HDMI scalers - FPGA based carts to handle the ROMs and saves and even expansions! This means Analogue Interactive consoles - not the cheapest option, but pretty amazing... MISTer is probably your best bet for multiple systems. Everdrive and Terraonion carts use FPGAs to recreate the special chips (SuperFX etc.) and unique features of game cards and run everything from SD card. They can be used on the original machines and the Analogue consoles and go some way to negate those pricey rare games. I like to have original games too, but i'm not paying over £30 for a 30 year old game cart - screw that. Factor that in and the Everdrive pays for itself. MegaSD (and now the Mega Everdrive Pro) is an FPGA based Sega/Mega CD which runs all the ISOs from an SD card. It's even got the Sega Master system FM sound chip core baked in - Every 8/16bit Sega game running from a 256GB SD card ! (you can run it in a 32X too apparently)

There are ways to go from analog to digital without lag, have a look to the RetroRGB channel on youtube for ways to got about it.

Probably emulators are better as hardware has improved a lot since then but only if the emulators are stable and properly optimised

Your point is valid! I believe this varies based on hardware. Some people I know had no issues with their emulators, but for some reason, I still ran into a few lagging and framerate skips no matter how high I optimize different emulators. I'll keep this in mind for next time though
