  • Frank Zappa ...and Play Yer Guitar (at UMRK)
    A sort of "Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar" in studio. All unreleased material 1978 - 1982
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    (If you find something here that you believe shouldn’t be here, please let me know and I will remove it)
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
    Let me say something about this compilation:
    while I rummaged in "UMRK rehearsals"
    (during assembly of the "The Birth of" series)
    I have found fragments of very beautiful guitar solos.
    So I did a job of "cut and paste". Sometimes I combined
    fragments taken from Take1, from Take2, and so on...
    I deleted the dialogues and downtime, I saved only guitar solos.
    I also added here and there some "Leather snippets" to solve some brutal cuts of master tapes.
    I am very satisfied of the job done.
    I hope you enjoy it.

    I personally can never listen to lead guitar the same way after discussing Zappa's lead playing at age 55. These collections from Brtag amount to cultural archiviving of the highest order.

    I've never been more addicted to a musician than I am him. I thought when I was a kid kiss was addictive. It's not even the same thing, it's not even in the same. Stratosphere. I can't go a day without listening to his music freaking addiction. And I haven't been listening to in my whole life. Probably since my late 20s. It took me a while to get into him. But once I started really dissecting his music and listening to his live stuff. It pulled me in and i've never let go I just can't go a day without listening to his music I just don't feel right.

    Dude ... love it. It's SO in the spirit of how FZ edited his stuff together, although you give it a bit of a new dimension (like the "STOP!" in Easy Meat -- I don't think Frank would have ever put something like that out). But that's OK -- this is great. I hope you keep it up, yours is one of my favorite channels.

    Listening to Yo Mamma.. God damn, Chad is amazing! At just 21 he already sounds like a seasoned/mature drummer. A virtuoso to be sure.

    • @subfragment
      @subfragment 7 лет назад

      his family is like that!

    • @tagaudi
      @tagaudi 7 лет назад

      Chad played the drums like a computer. Cool, precise, observant... almost detached. I think that was his main contribution to Zappa's wild solos.

    • @subfragment
      @subfragment 7 лет назад +2

      +udiseus on ship arriving too late, Chad is playing just as wild as zappa's solos, it's incredibly difficult physically to play those rhythms correctly at those tempos, so I wouldn't say like a computer, but his mind is always awake, listening and his disposition is calm, almost Zen-like...but yes, very articulate playing and smooth even feel for phrasing.

    • @tagaudi
      @tagaudi 7 лет назад +2

      I meant his precision his detached precision, even on his wildest nights. As opposed to Bozzio, who was 'inside the music, completely absorbed and identified with it, and Winnie Colaiuta, who many times practically 'competed' with FZ.

    • @subfragment

      It is true, I have a large collection of photos of Frank.
      But the credit is not all mine, it is thanks to all the friends who have shared their photos in the WEB.
      I started many years ago to save in my hard disk all the photos that I found around the web. I also use them to make the CD covers of unreleased concerts of Frank.
