  • Noah is extremely passionate about politics and constitutional law. He believes that our education system is failing to teach students the true importance of civics. Come to Noah’s talk and learn about how and what steps we as a society can take to help reinvigorate productive political activism amongst young people. Noah Tesfaye is a senior at Los Altos and web managing editor for the Talon. He is extremely passionate about politics and constitutional law, and he hopes to major in political science in college. In his free time, he enjoys reading the news, listening to podcasts on criminal justice, and eating great food with friends. His favorite books he’s recently read are Just Mercy by Brian Stevenson and If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin.     Wow, such a passionate kid that cares so much. Another great youtube video on this subject is 'Civic Education is the Solution' on Planet Classroom Network. This is about a boy talking about how a free democracy can thrive with civic education and engagement.

    He does bring up some good points, and I do wish that we could use my college professors classes as a blueprint as it would provide at minimum 4 classes for students to take covering history and civics in America. But I don't have a lot of confidence in that changing things for the better due to the fact that there is no gaurentee that the individuals teaching the classes would be of the same caliber.
    I should also add that many of the younger students have developed ideas that will be changed as they have time as a mote active member of society. I know that for a fact as the news outlets and people I would have voted for at 18 are not the same as those I would gravitate towards at 25.

    I am 37 just about 38 and I never had civics in high school and I still go to high school diploma how about that one is that even right or not can you answer me

    I was 19 when I graduated high school but I never had civics I never had algebra I never had trigonometry or geometry or any other thing in that sort

    They did pass me with a two on my IEP so called for graduation in high school which I graduated in May 23rd 2003 I was an honor student cuz that was the grades I got grades that I got a 3.5 or above and that was a special ed Wilson classes I did not get also I did get some I got gym class regular gym class regular health class I got individual activities and some more gym class group activities I can't remember when was called and that I don't know I could not get civics trigonometry geometry any other of those big classes I was out I could not even get civics they took me out of civics class

    I did have real geography communications communications one and two I think composition one twice I did pass on the reading and the math test basic ones the Winchester and I got you and you're supposed to get a three to pass and yet they passed me on that but I never had civics I did have real geography I had gym class only had health careers 1 I had art class like regular art clay works draw paint art and other art

    I got a high school to pull up back in 2003 and I never had civics class I was supposed to but I never got that class so I never learned about civics don't know about government loss or any of that s*** and of course I got in trouble in 2012 and didn't know much what was going on really but I still got charged with that crime what's a misdemeanor assault charge fifth degree assault when I took the plea agreement and that was a good f****** choice or not cuz I never had civics high School and yet they did have that class in high school and the the teacher took me out of that class I never was to learn that class civics I wanted to learn civics but it never happened
