It's not the length of sample, but the timbre of the sound itself. What you have to bear in mind is as a diesel engine increases in speed, the timbre of the sound stays consistent- for example the clattering of the injectors. If you were to simply use one sample for the whole range of engine speeds, it would sound very tinny and unrealistic at higher speeds, and too low and clunky at lower speeds. I should really get around to making a video demonstration of what I mean by this.
I will release them as a downloadable sound pack when I get round to it- same with the Merc OM904 and Cummins ISB6.7 sounds. :-) Prices to be confirmed and depends also on whether they will be used commercially or not. Watch this space. :-)
+Chris Richmond thank you for the response! i will use them for a private proyect, but probably i would request a little donation to pay the sounds and share the bus to the people who helped me. The bus is a Marcopolo Gran Viale, with a low entry euro 3 B7R. the maker of the body is a brazilian company. Greetings from Chile!
Not sure if you can buy this in Chile, but I have just hosted those sounds on my new webstore along with a few other bits and pieces: my.digitalgoodsstore.com/product/dg4wf
+Chris Richmond wow, thanks!, i have a master card... so i think there is no problem here. when i get payed i would buy the sounds, thanks for making them :)
OH MY GOD, PERFECT OM904LA SOUNDS! It's rare! You will upload it?
nicely done sir!
is the mercedes engine still available to download anywhere?
Not yet...
I really would like to get an Optare Solo/Versa pack together and release it as part of that.
@@ChrisRichmond that would be amazing mate, can't wait 👍
@@ChrisRichmond Hows it going? Im looking forward to the 904LA because its a very overlooked engine
Any pitch shifting needed?
Oh yes, but only a little as there are about 10 samples between idle and the redline.
@@ChrisRichmond Would one sample of an engine from idle all the way to maximum rpm be too large for OMSI?
